April 14, 201114 yr Really? That's stupid, you don't see a quarter of the sales of P!nk's box set 'album' that went top 10 in 2009 being added to the sales of the four albums in it...I agree. The OCC have now apparently stopped counting additional sales of the two Queen album sets towards the individual albums though it's not much of a loss now as the two sets have now been deleted...
April 14, 201114 yr So, Adele should make the Top 20 at some point this year.I'd say it's highly likely...
April 14, 201114 yr Robbie, The BPI List, (To Mid June 2009), was the most recent 'All Time UK Albums' List that The OCC provided. (I'm sure that they will up-date it, before too long). However, The BPI List has flaws in it:, 1) It gives 'Greatest Hits II', by Queen, a release Date of 2000. It actually came out in 1991. 2) The Oasis Album came out in 1995 - not 1996. 3) The Sales of both 'Bad' & 'The Immaculate Collection' are exactly the same as they were in the November 2006 List. The BPI List makes it look like neither of those Albums sold even 1 copy, between November 2006 & June 2009! 4) 'War Of The World's was a 1978 release - not 1985. SALES - I believe that The OCC added about 560,000 to 566,000 Sales of 'The Platinum Collection', to both 'Greatest Hits' (One), & 'Greatest Hits II', by Queen. (Plus another 560,000 to 566,000 to the Sales of 'Greatest Hits III'). Basically, the UK Sales of 'The Platinum Collection' were divided by 3, & each 3rd was added to the previous 3 Queen 'Hits' Albums Sales. However - even with those Sales removed, the first Queen 'Hits' Album would still be No.1 in the UK's All Time Best Selling Albums. 'Greatest Hits II' would drop from 8th place, to about 14th or 15th, with the Sales removed. Edited April 14, 201114 yr by zeus555
April 14, 201114 yr So, Adele should make the Top 20 at some point this year. I doubt that... After the two million mark her sales will be sharply reduced, she won't sell 3 millions in 2011! After all this list is slightly outdated. I am not talking about new entries but some of these albums have sold a few more... (Leona, Amy, TT, Robbie, perhaps even Blunt...) + There must be a lot of albums at 2,5 mil. (for example some of Robbies oldies or new entries such as KOL, Gaga, Bubble even Progress untill 2012...) There should me more than 50 albums over 2,5 millions sales....
April 14, 201114 yr I doubt that... After the two million mark her sales will be sharply reduced, she won't sell 3 millions in 2011! Well, it has 1,131,124 left as of last week's chart cutoff point and there are 38 chart weeks left of 2011 (I make 37 but that's a different matter :P) so it'd need to sell 29,769 per week on average for the rest of 2011 to pass 3mil. Given she'll still be exceeding that for quite a while and she's nowhere near done with the album campaign anyway (at least one more single coming off it) plus there's still a potential boost if she performs on X Factor / Britain's Got Talent and her Christmas sales will probably be big as well... not to mention if they put out a deluxe edition that'd be another huge boost... I can see her managing 3mil by the end of 2011. She'll definitely pass 3mil at some point anyway.

Still: 1) It looks like there is some kind of barrier at the 2.000.000 mark with UK albums. I think it could be the 'capacity' of the albums fast selling period. 2) She is decreasing now and we don't know how fast it could be. I remember the same thing with Progress. TT went from selling 200k to less than 50k and now they do less than 10k! And they recently had a lot of airplay + the brits + a new single + happy now, still nothing could help the album that much anymore. I believe Adelle's album has something like 3-5 strong selling weeks left. (including the one that is already in progress) (in case of XF or Deluxe it will definitely get an additional boost for sure) Edited April 14, 201114 yr by 7heDreamer

I believe Adelle's album has something like 3-5 strong selling weeks left. (including the one that is already in progress) (in case of XF or Deluxe it will definitely get an additional boost for sure) TT would never have sold as much as they did if they didn't release in the Christmas period - as soon as the Xmas period ended, as you say it dropped from 200k to 50k. Adele hasn't needed the Xmas boost to sell huge amounts on a weekly basis (and has somehow managed to obliterate the record for consecutive weeks over 100k in a period where #1 album sales are usually at their lowest) so isn't going to make such a drastic drop-off. I think there's simply not been much interest in TT since Xmas, Kidz didn't exactly set the charts on fire and while The Flood was pretty big it was hardly another Rule The World for them, whereas there's obviously still massive interest in Adele as she has 2 massive singles both still in the top 20 plus 19 is still selling more than every other album around at the moment aside from Foo Fighters (who are surely frontloaded anyway). I don't think her sales will drop that quickly at all, she'll probably still be selling at least 50k per week for a few months yet. Edited April 14, 201114 yr by Bray
April 15, 201114 yr I dont think there's any comparison of Progress and 21. If anything we should look at how Duffy and Amy Winehouse's sales continued throughout their first year. I'm not one for rash predictions but I dont think she'l have any problem doing another million and could well do it by the end of Oct - which is still 6 months away.
