She's one of the judges so as low as J. Lo

Haha. I get it. J-Low! :D

Seriously though, the only explanation I can think of is that Marroon 5 and Christina performed as the guest performers on there, except they put those performances up for download too. I think if this version is doing so well, it could be a hit when the real version comes out.

Personally, I think these shows produce mostly crap because the more there are these kind of "reality stars" the less the shows produce true stars. They might have one charting song or two but will never have a decent career. I wouldn't pay any attention to these Dias and Javiers until they sell 200k per week - albums or singles.

It's an official Maroon 5 single featuring Christina as I said. She's a judge on The Voice alongside Adam Levine whose band his Maroon 5. Not that hard to understand. It just says performance by The Voice because they performed it on the show live.

Now at #3.

The thing is, the download on iTunes US store is NOT a live performance. It's the official single mp3.

Thank you for explaining. :) I was a bit confused because I know literally nothing about the show.

iTunes Popularity Bars

The Voice definitely having a big effect on the US iTunes. Do you think the UK will have an similar effect with the verison of 'The Voice?
Dear lord, what on Earth is this 'The Voice' rubbish?

This

RITD has sold another 188k for the most recent Digital Songs chart (I would say 'in the last week' but I don't think that's how the US chart date system works)

Up to 3,768,000 total sales now :D Should pass 4m in 2 or 3 more Digital Songs weeks. That link doesn't have any sales info for E.T. though, so we don't yet know how much RITD gained on E.T.

EDIT: Actually, we do know RITD gained on E.T. by at least 65k, as it gives Bruno's sales at #10 as 123k and E.T. is lower. So the gap between E.T. and RITD is now 164k at the absolute highest (probably lower) :D

The Voice is a singing talent show, with Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo Green, Blake Shelton and (I think) Adam Levine as judges. I don't actually watch it but AFAIK it's like X-Factor but the mentors (Xtina and co) have a bigger role and I think they have blind auditions. It's very popular in the US, I'm quite interested to see it when the UK version starts. That's not till 2012 though.

I see. What an utterly horrendous list of judges bar Cee Lo Green though

Why is Mick Jagger suddenly a THING in music? TiK ToK and The Time (Dirty Bit) both mentioned him and I assume this Maroon 5 thing does too.

Cheryl Cole is apparently judging the UK version :manson:

And you forgot Swagger Jagger by a certain hated favourite of r Chez :kink:

Not too sure, but I doubt it. I'm quite surprised The Voice performances appear on the feed, as American Idol performances don't. X Factor performances also didn't appear on the UK feed last year, so I'm not sure whether The Voice performances will be allowed to appear on the UK feed. If they are, I don't see them having as much impact as in the US.

Tbh, I don't see Cheryl Cole doing the UK version. She doesn't seem like the right fit - the show is meant to be about the voice, after all?

Cheryl has a decent voice, and I don't think you need to be a good singer to judge other people's singing anyway.

But I don't think she'd do it. I think she knows it'll only get her even more hated (if that's possible).

All of that's true except 'Cheryl has a decent voice' :P With The X Factor being massive I think The Voice will only have Must Be The Music type success in the UK, unless with the new panel TXF really goes down in ratings and the media ignore it (which is 95% not going to happen - media just LOVE The X Factor season)

Ooh, I missed this article when I was looking at the Billboard website earlier:

Adele #1 for a 7th week as expected :D And she matches a multi-format airplay record (also held by I'm Yours). Bizarre that RITD is charting on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Latin Pop Songs... is its appeal really *that* wide? :o

Katy up to #4.

(Teenage Dream, previously the only album to have 4 Digital Songs #1s on it, is now the only album to have 5 Digital Songs #1s on it  So it now still has the record even if you exclude E.T. which went to #1 mainly on sales of the Kanye version not on the album)

Afrojack has entered at #96 with Take Over Control :o! Very unexpected, especially considering it's currently only #168 on US iTunes. Always great to see a European dance song charting on the H100. Badman Riddim next :kink:

The top 10 continues to be ridiculously stale overall (but slightly more interesting than it was a couple of weeks ago with Katy, GaGa, Jason and Nicki entering I suppose):

1 Adele - Rolling In The Deep

2 Pitbull feat. Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer - Give Me Everything

3 LMFAO feat. Lauren Bennett and GoonRock - Party Rock Anthem

4 Katy Perry - Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)

5 Katy Perry feat. Kanye West - E.T.

6 Lady GaGa - The Edge Of Glory

7 Jason Aldean feat. Ludacris - Dirt Road Anthem

8 Nicki Minaj - Super Bass

9 Bruno Mars - The Lazy Song

10 Lupe Fiasco - The Show Goes On ( What is this seriously still doing here?!? It peaked at #49 in the UK over 4 months ago!)

It is NOT a performance song! It's an official single by Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera. It has the tag "The Voice performance" because M5 performed it on the show last night.

It's now at #2 on the chart, wouldn't be surprised if it hits #1. Will inevitably start dropping with lack of radio airplay. Hasn't gone for adds yet. Rolling Stone has called it the perfect summer tune. It's gaining momentum as I thought.

Just going to paste the latest news from Maroon 5 directly so people stop thinking this is a performance release.

"NEW TRACK "MOVES LIKE JAGGER" FEAT. XTINA!

The new Maroon 5 track "Moves Like Jagger," featuring Christina Aguilera premiered live on last night's episode of NBC's the Voice! RollingStone.com praised the collaboration, saying "the two singers have a terrific chemistry, with Levine's chill vibe acting as the perfect counterbalance to the diva's fiery intensity."

If you missed it, you can hear what MTV.com calls the "perfect summer song" NOW and (be the first to learn all the lyrics) at the M5 Facebook page! And pick it up today as it climbs the charts (currently up to #3) in the iTunes store! "

Rolling In The Deep on Latin Pop Songs? I can just about see it appealing the R&B/Hip-Hop audience but wow at it being played on Latin radio! :o
