April 16, 201114 yr We're not really discussing her other songs though, she's had a lot of huge hits in her career already yes, they dont need to be compared every song she brings out, right now we're discussing the significance of an iTunes position.
April 16, 201114 yr Its a sign that its the most downloaded song at that moment in that country  Quite a significant sign i'd say, and to be #1 on MULTIPLE iTunes stores across the world, is also a sign, that, that song is very popular at that time. The problem of Itunes is that it updates too frequently to be a really significant factor in terms of chart success. It's not a real chart when there can be several number ones each day. If a song is performed somewhere it can suddenly appear very high (Glee, X Factor etc) but still never reach Top 20 on weekly charts. You can run 100 metres as fast as you can and never win race of 400 metres. But I love Gaga and I'm not saying that BTW wasn't a hit and Judas will be one too.

Yeah I see where you're coming from, but iTunes, especially in this day and age, is a very very significant part of music and the charts, whether we like it or not. iTunes has probably the biggest impact on charts in the 21st Century music industry. Also once she hits iTunes the #1 boost will really help her, and when we see the top 10 boost, and even just adverts on the main iTunes page, all have a significant impact.
April 17, 201114 yr Nothing against the person who started this thread obv but do people really care? It's not a guarantee or even a reliable sign of any long term success. People were fussed about BTW's record breaking entrance in the US and it became nowhere near her own biggest hit neither in sales nor airplay let alone one of the biggest hits overall. I don't think anybody is claiming that it is an indication of the longer term sucess of the track. You can't extrapolate that from a day and a half worth of sales on iTunes. It is merely interesting to see when and indeed *if* she makes no.1. And I see this morning that she is still no.2.
April 17, 201114 yr I've gone for never, as it has peaked at #2 and is now dropping (currently at #3). Plus I don't think the video will help it reach number one, not from what I've read about it and the fact that it is 12 minutes long.

I just did never also, the fact that it dropped already doesn't make it seem like it has a chance to climb to the top, video or no video.
April 17, 201114 yr Why has she done a 12 minute video?! She's a musician, not a film-maker! They'll cut it down to 3 or 4 minutes for regular MTV play though, and probably only play the full length version when each channel premieres it and during night-time. Also, on youtube isn't there a 10 minute limit on videos? Or is it different if you use Vevo? Edited April 17, 201114 yr by Eric_Blob
April 17, 201114 yr i wish she'd stop doing such long videos for a while. if it's good i don't really mind, but bad romance proved you can have a normal length video and it can still be an event, having such long videos would be nice from time to time but i don't think it's necessary all the time

April 17, 201114 yr Probably sometime before May 17th, she's on Graham Norton May 13th, so I suspect she'll be doing more promo around that time.
April 17, 201114 yr Her song sounds just like Kiss's "I was made for loving you". The "Ohhhh I'm in love with Judas" part! I can't post a link because I have less than 20 posts but here's the link if you remove the space: http:// www.youtube.com /watch?v=CM30iNH8TqA
April 17, 201114 yr Adele has derailed the GaGa steam train I'm afraid. We're trying to be convinced by her record company she is some iconic genius with all these long holier than though videos, but the public are starting to wake-up and smell the coffee. BTW was a disaster and this latest single isn't upto much either. And oh, who cares about Itunes? Stop paying over the odds for your music and feeding fat bosses at Apple. April 17, 201114 yr ^ What has any of this got to do with Adele (apart from the fact that Adele's having the success now that Gaga was having 2 years ago)?

April 17, 201114 yr GaGa looked like she was going to take over the world a year ago but she's faded in the light of the Adele storm. Adele is a proper artist GaGa just a very poor man's Madonna. Adele is what people want now, not GaGa.
April 17, 201114 yr what has any of that got to do with Adele? I guess Adele has got success from releasing brilliant songs with 21 of the back of her voice + how fantastic songs are. As opposed to GaGa who seems to want everything to be controversial in order for her to sell a record - it cant get their on its own merrit - their has to be some form of a 'statement' or glorification for her to sell.
