If we presume that half of the people who voted for 2000-2010 are voting for it because they're too young and don't know any other decade, then we can safely assume that the 90s is kicking ass on this poll :kink:

I voted 1990s :(

I didn't realise it was multiple choice- but I voted 00s as I know the most music from there and most of my all time favourites come from there - that said, the 90s would be very close behind- an amazingly varied, great decade which also had some great songs
My 10 year period would be 1998-2007 I guess, although I prefer 1997 and 2009 to 2003/2004...the late 90s (as in the final two years) are absolutely unbeatable for me though.
00s for me, I don't know a whole lot from before then. What I do know from the 90s is very good, however, I just don't know enough to get a good picture of the decade.

1994 - best year ever

Parklife

Grace

The Holy Bible

Dog Man Star

Under the Pink

Music for the Jilted Generation

The Downward Spiral

Dookie

Dummy

No Need to Argue

The Division Bell

I guess this will mostly just depend on your age!

Yeah.

I voted 2000-2010, kind of by deafault. I can only remember music from the last few years of the 90's. Obviously, I know lots of music from before then, but still quite a miniscule amount in comparison to what I know from the 00's.

Not necessarily. I was only 8 years old in 1999 yet I still love the 90s and consider myself a "90s child". I guess the fact I just caught the end of it (1998/99) meant I got totally sucked in, and now I know an awful lot of 90s music because of my desire to get to know the decade better.

Plus Bray is like 13(?) and voted for 1990s - although I wonder how much of that has to do with The Prodigy being at their peak then :D

But seriously, I suppose it depends on your age and your willingness to travel into the past. I'm still trying to get to know the 80s better. I have to say a lot of stuff from the 60s I struggle with though - I guess it's just the fact that the production seems like a million light years away from what we have now in so many songs. It's so hard to get in to (for me) unless you're more used to it, I guess. The 70s I'm a bit better with.

14. And that's part of why I voted for the 1990s but not the whole reason :P Most of my favourite songs of all time are from the 90s

Edited by Bray

I originally was going to choose the 1970's, because the first music I was into came from that decade. :D

However, I have decided to pick the 1980's, for 2 reasons:

1) I am an 80's child

2) Most of my record collection is 80's music

So the 60's didn't exist then? It's only the most important and essential era in the foundations to modern music.

This poll shows the age of the forum members doesn't it? :D

2000-2010 is voted by people 18-28yo

1990-2000 is voted by people 28-38yo

1980-1990 is voted by people 38-48yo

Pretty much. Although there are quite a few exceptions if you read through the thread.

Also, quite a large proportion of people here are actually under 18. Most of them said they voted 00's, and a few said they voted 90's.

00's, but mainly because that was the decade during which I started to discover and develop my love for music (ie. I was a teenager) and it's easier to do that with current stuff. The 80's aren't far behind though and the 70's and 90's are tied pretty much.

Well I'm one of the oldies!

I first got into the charts at the end of 1980. I was 11 years old. Every Sunday I wrote down and recorded the Top 40! I carried this on until the mid 90's.

I love the 80's but the period up until '95, '96 still had high quality.

My musical taste changed from the 80's New Romantics with acts like Duran Duran, Human League and Spandau Ballet to the Dance/House/Rave era of the late 80's into the early 90's. Then I discovered Indie!! Early Indie bands such as Lush, Curve, Ride and The Charlatans took me to a different place! Fell in love with bands such as Oasis, Echobelly, Sleeper, Salad and Blur.

I still check Buzzjack for every chart update and listen to the Top 40 every Sunday and there's loads of great stuff charting but unfortunately, as a 42 year old, Reggie doesn't quite cut it with me! His inaccuracies, dreadful chart "games" and interviews with his mates every week are aimed at 8 - 14 year olds! I mean what the heck's that chart numbers game?? I've heard him say it's his highlight of the show. I think that says it all! <_<

Oh, and if he does that thing when it comes to J-Lo and plays people singing Lambada ending with the line...."official chart" I'm seriously gonna punch a wall!!!!

Hey, as long as Buzzjackers (even old ones) can have a wee rant it can't be all bad! :)

^ Well, I think they would be aiming at an age range for like 11-20 than 8-14, surely?

But even a lot of the teenagers on here find him annoying.

I don't mind him too much. And on quite a selfish level, his "mates" that he interviews are probably the ones I'm most interested in hearing, so I don't mind that.

The most annoying thing is those games like "celebrity chart numbers" and that "Happy Birthday" thing they're doing at the moment. And it also annoys me how he shows bias towards songs a bit too openly considering he's presenting a chart show on Radio 1.
