Yes, completing an album counts as +1 for the album and -1 for any previously bought singles.

What? Really? Completing an album counts as -1 for any previously bought singles? That seems like a really strange rule. Does that mean that in theory, if only a few people bought a song one week and lots of people completed albums, a song could actually end up with negative sales??

I still think she'll easily go over 200k, probably 250k. And I don't think it would never open to less than 200k, even without her London promo trip.

At least it doesn't sound like other people's songs.

Guess you never heard of Madonna then

And lol, I don't know in which planet her team is expecting for 30M in sales. That's not even a possibility.

30m sales would normally be unheard of in this day and age but if she's tapping into the Chinese and Indian markets I wouldn't be so sure.

A song could theoretically have negative sales in one particular week but it can't have negative sales overall because then the number of 'complete my album' -1s would have to outnumber the people who bought that song before which is impossible :P

Those are huge countries population-wise but their markets are microscopisic. Legal music is basically dead in both and, even if she has imprescedent sales over there, it won't be even CLOSE to the amount it will probably sell in the UK, for example. So basically, it doesn't make any difference at all the fact she's tapping into those markets. At least, not for her total album sales.

And 30m sales would normally be unheard of in any day and age. Currently, it's simply impossible. And let's be honest here, Gaga probably won't even reach 10m. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if she couldn't match Adele's sales.

i don't mean to sound rude, but are you retarded?

You do sound rude though.

I'm not retarded myself, are you?

Have you actually listened to album lmfao?

Can you really see chavs bopping about to the likes of 'Marry the Night', 'Scheibe' and 'Americano'?! I assume you're not from the UK and therefore don't actually understand what a chav is.

You're right, I'm not from the UK and I may not fully understand the meaning of a chav although I was already explained it here, on this site.

If I used the wrong word, sorry. What I meant to say is people who don't listen to music for its quality but for the fuss and buzz around it. Simply because it's it's trendy and all around on the media, but most of all because it comes from America, which is absolutely ridiculous.

Of course I haven't listened to the album, it didn't even come out as far as I know.

I haven't even listened to her first album in full. The singles are enough for me to say it's not my cup of tea. Cheap, catchy bubble-gum pop, that's it. No artistic value whatsoever.

Yeah that's what I meant, negative sales in one particular week. I know it will never happen in practice but it still seems like a strange rule to be deducting sales!

As I said, 30m is an EXTREMELY ambitious target, but I think 10M should be easy enough with this album. I can't see Adele finishing with higher sales either.

It's very common in the USA, because promo singles are more prevalent there than in the UK. Taylor Swift's Mine went 9-21-14 or something like that on the week of the album release because of negative sales. I don't know if those are correct positions, but I know she was Top 10, fell out of Top 20, then climbed back into Top 15.

after hearing this album it doesn't deserve to sell anything. But I voted for 50-100k

haha. Oh I love you Nick

You haven't heard the album, how can you say it has no artistic value? Please stop making statements on subject which you have little to no knowledge of. Such as suggesting everyone that buys Lady Gaga's music is a chav... A downright stupid statement in itself, you probably couldn't be further away for the truth.

And who are you to say people are listening to her for the wrong reasons? Maybe people just LIKE HER and your opinion isn't fact. These things are subjective and always will be, no one's opinion is right and no one will always agree and enjoy exactly the same things. Please get over it.

I predict around 180K, it will no doubt be a huge hit around the world, though it may not match the 23 million copies that TFM has managed (which is still selling extremely well right now). It could come close though over time, there are plans to release a huge amount of singles from it, and after listening to it i can safely say that is not a bad thing :)

I never said that this album had no artistic value. I said her music is bubble-gum, primitive pop. I based it on the singles, fair enough.

It's obvious that my opinion is not a fact. This thread is all about opinions though, not facts! To be honest, forums in general are for people to express their opinions, aren't they? I expressed mine and no-one asked you to interact with me. You can agree or not. In the second case, feel free to post your opposite opinion but stop telling me what to do or what to think. Having said that, you should really get over it, not me. For me her dumb dancey singalongs are classified as chav music which is why I don't want her to sell a lot, full stop.

Well, she's already released four...! :P

30M isn't ambitious. It's impossible. It's like saying it'll sell 1 billion.

"The Fame", which her record lablel claims it sold 23m, sold that with a re-release, two versions and couting all of the singles sales.

She's released two and two promo singles (one of which will supposedly be promoted to full single soon).

Fame and TFM combined have sold 15 million as of April 2011.

UK Pre-Order Charts

Amazon

1. Born This Way (=) (At #4 (+3) on OVERALL Chart)

2. Born This Way (Special Edition) (At #6 (+2) on OVERALL Chart)

HMV

1. Born This Way (Special Edition) (=) (At #1 (+1) on OVERALL Chart)

Play

1. Born This Way (Special Edition) (=)

2. Born This Way (=)

Does anytone know TT or Adele's pre-order positions, with which we could compare these? Obviously the PRE-ORDER Chart positions are impossible to better, it's the OVERALL Chart positions that I find most interesting.

The single sales aren't included in the 23M  I don't believe the 23M figure though. 16.5M is the official number for TF, TFM and TFM (EP) combined, so I think 14M is a realistic number for total album sales. Still, I don't want to say 30M is impossible, because I don't think ANYTHING can happen, but I think this album will finish up with similar sales to TF.
