May 7, 201114 yr And apparently Gary Barlow has been confirmed for the UK's X-Factor. Has no-one told him its more usual for people to jump sinking ships rather than jump on them! Kath
May 7, 201114 yr X Factor UK is not exactly a sinking ship... look at American Idol. Everybody thought it would be over once Simon left but in actuality people have taken to Jennifer Lopez and Stephen Tyler amazingly well and the ratings are as strong as they were last season. The last season of UK X Factor was the highest rated to date which makes this the perfect time for a refresh.

The last season of UK X Factor was the highest rated to date which makes this the perfect time for a refresh. The difference with American Idol though (as far as I can remember - and I may be wrong) is that not many (if any) 'novelty' acts got through to the finals. It has always been about musical talent - even Simon Cowell took his role there more seriously than he did on the UK show. With its current panel - it REMAINS about the musical talent so the show hasn't changed. I think Barlow may be under the impression that he can bring some normality to the show - which isn't what a Saturday Night British Audience wants to see. We want to see an entertainment show - and the judges are an important part of that (on the UK show - the contestants are just a by-product). I think Gary Barlow is great with Take That - he should know his limitations though - as his speaking voice could send a glass eye to sleep - I don't care how much more musical credibility he has than Simon Cowell. I can't see Gary Barlow being nearly as entertaining as Simon Cowell (unless we get another fresh panelist to liven things up too ... I'm thinking Lily Allen or Amy Winehouse). Knowing us - we'll probably end up with Alesha Dixon or someone equally as boring (yes - I've heard Kelly Rowland's name being mentioned - but she's a bit dull too). Kath
May 7, 201114 yr I don't think I could bare to watch it if Gary Barlow is a judge, actually cannot stand that man. It's a shame as I love x factor

May 7, 201114 yr Oh come on. :o Gary Barlow might be "boring" but I'd much rather see him on The X Factor over that blasted Irish twonk Louis Walsh. :manson: I'm disappointed that they've let Louis back for his seventh series. The WHORE!!! When does he retire again? :(
May 7, 201114 yr Steve Jones & Nicole Scherzinger have apparently been confirmed as co-hosts of X Factor US
May 7, 201114 yr Steve Jones & Nicole Scherzinger have apparently been confirmed as co-hosts of X Factor US How much worse can this whole line up get-really hope the show flops big time.It seems past it and tired in comparison to what The Voice has to offer.
May 7, 201114 yr Author Gary Barlow? Seriously? :manson: We get rid of CuntCole for it to be replaced by TakeCunt? URGH. I still hold out for someone like Lily Allen, who would be AMAZING. @Hits - Louis doesn't need to retire, it needs to be euthanised.

The WHORE!!! When does he retire again? :( Yes, he is better than Louis, but both of them at the same time?!?!?!? MOST BORING THING EVER. Nicole is the US presenter :(? Oh dear, she is far more popular in the UK and I doubt she would be a good presenter, she is too gentle? WE BETTER GET SOMEONE AMAZING IF NICOLE ISNT DOING IT!
May 7, 201114 yr @Hits - Louis doesn't need to retire, it needs to be euthanised. Yes, ideally that would be better. The music industry would finally have something to celebrate.
May 7, 201114 yr Aw I love Louis  & I think people are writing off the show too soon. I doubt this will flop, although it probably don't do as well as it could have with the likes of Cheryl, Steve Jones etc.. Really hoping the final judge isn't Paula though. How predictable would that be Pretty sure the UK show will still do well too.. as long as the manage to find decent judges. X Factor is still massively popular over here and I doubt people would stop watching just because Simon and Cheryl won't be there
May 7, 201114 yr Aw I love Louis  In the absence of Simon Cowell ... Louis has suddenly become the most interesting thing about X-F. Kath
May 7, 201114 yr I don't mind Gary Barlow tbh- he seems a really nice guy, although I probably wouldn't exactly want to hear his voice over and over again  I don't mind Louis that much :o I find him quite funny really, although as a judge, he's pretty $h!t, but then again, Cheryl wasn't great and Simon has gone downhill
May 7, 201114 yr I will be really annoyed if Paula is the last judge as well... She always acted like she was drunk/high on American Idol, I didn't like her on it. I love Steve Jones so yay for him but (much as I love her - she's one of my favourite singers atm) I think Nicole won't be a good presenter. I've got high hopes for the next UK series too, as has been mentioned American Idol's shake-up did it wonders - this is my fave series to date (even though the awful Scotty is the certain winner, Queen Pia exited FAR too early and Lauren was bottom 2 this week following two flawless performances!) Louis is so awful, he needs to leave ASAP! Silas' comment was the funniest thing I've seen in AGES :D
May 7, 201114 yr The other name that has popped up to take over from Cheryl is Kelly Rowland is discussing a possible contract, not sure how true it is, it was published in the Sun with the announcement of Gary Barlow.
May 7, 201114 yr Author And we all know that even Uncyclopedia is more reliable than The Sun.....RIGHT GUYS???
May 7, 201114 yr Can totally see Kelly Rowland doing it tbh. She's quite popular in the UK and could work really well with Dannii. Gary Barlow though? Boring. And X Factor USA just screams 'FLOP'.
May 7, 201114 yr I hope Kelly is a judge - she may not be Beyonce but she is a really nice person and really talented. She has a lot of experience, has experienced the highs and the lows plus will be able a great addition, showing you don't always have to have the biggest stars to make a show great (like when Dannii came, instead of Kylie). I can totally see Kelly being my favourite judge if she takes over - LOVE the woman! As for XF US flopping, all I know is I can't see both AI and XF US staying, most countries don't have both Idol and XF - and there must be a reason (ie one flops). With the consistently strong ratings and brilliant reception Idol is getting following the refresh, I'm thinking it doesn't look good for XF US... I wonder if Simon will come crawling back to the UK, or at least American Idol, if it fails?
May 7, 201114 yr The other name that has popped up to take over from Cheryl is Kelly Rowland is discussing a possible contract, not sure how true it is, it was published in the Sun with the announcement of Gary Barlow. If it turns out to be true, I will be very chuffed with myself as I was the first one to suspect her as a possibility for UK X Factor. I think she would be a great judge, she comes across very well, knows what she is talking about and would bring some life to a dull looking panel (apart from Dannii obvcourse). She, along with Nicole, was a guest judge on 'P Diddy's Starmaker', a talent show shown on E4 and also T4 on Saturday mornings, for an episode, and I remember being very impressed with her critique. Here are the William Hill odds for who's landing the UK jobs: Eminem - 66/1 Madonna - 50/1 Victoria Beckham - 50/1 Pete Waterman - 50/1 Emma Bunton - 25/1 Alexandra Burke - 25/1 Charlotte Church - 25/1 Lulu - 20/1 Pixie Lott - 20/1 Kelly Rowland - 20/1 Ronan Keating - 20/1 Natalie Imbrulia - 20/1 Lily Allen - 20/1 Kylie Minogue - 16/1 Geri Halliwell - 16/1 Leona Lewis - 16/1 Sinitta - 14/1 Michael Buble - 10/1 Paula Abdul - 8/1 Robbie Williams - 8/1 Nicole Scherzinger - 8/1 Sharon Osbourne - 4/1 Gary Barlow - 4/1 Katy Perry - 7/2 - Favourite Edited May 8, 201114 yr by Davidson
