This is the Portuguese version of "Save your love". Carlos Guilherme is Portugal's top opera singer.

I hate hate hate Come On Eileen - clearly I am in a minority.

I don't hate hate hate it. I'd say more just hate hate it after many years of hearing it on a night out, listening to pissed strangers shouting over the breakdown bit soon loses it's appeal. The fact it scored points from me shows just how little I like the rest of the year's chart toppers.

I'm sorry but anyone who gives points to Renne & f***ing Renato is clearly an absolute tit. $h!te of the highest order.

That said Ebony & Ivory is also clearly drivel.

15 pts. The Jam “A Town Called Malice/Precious”

12 pts. Kraftwerk “The Model/Computer Love”

-2 pts. Renee & Renato “Save Your Love”

Yay, Specials through to the final round. Righto, 1982 - I'll probably go very cheesy here, apologies in advance.

+15 Kraftwerk “The Model/Computer Love” Fabulous synth record

+12 Bucks Fizz “The Land of Make Believe” One of my guiltiest pleasures, one of the best pop records ever

+10 Madness “House of Fun” One of their greatest moments

+8 Musical Youth “Pass The Dutchie” A cheeky reworking of Pass the Coochie that made Blue Peter think this Birmingham group were a bunch of primitives

+6 Tight Fit “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” Another fun cover version - so what if the pretty boy didn't sing.

+5 Renee & Renato “Save Your Love” I shouldn't like this, but I do...must have appealed to me as a five year old

+4 The Jam “Beat Surrender” Good chorus, not much else

+3 The Jam “A Town Called Malice/Precious” The studio version's pretty good, but that unplugged version he did with all the audience clapping and "ba ba ba"-ing along...horrible.

+2 Bucks Fizz “My Camera Never Lies” Don't hear this as often as their other number ones, but tis a good 'un

+1 Captain Sensible “Happy Talk” Stupid fun from the soon to become regular on Saturday Superstore Capn. Thanks to him and Rik Mayall I was convinced that red berets were cool as...

Amazingly there isn't a single number one I hate from 1982, the one I like least is George and Co...

-2 Culture Club “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me”

I'm sorry but anyone who gives points to Renne & f***ing Renato is clearly an absolute tit. $h!te of the highest order.

I'm a tit of the highest order! I have it on 7" actually - 10p from a car boot sale.

Mind you, anyone who has a rant like that and then forgets to award his -2 points is a tit of a rather high order too ;)

A poor year for No 1's which is a shame as it was a good year for popular music.

I'm another who falls into the can't stand "Come On Eileen" camp. Do like alot of Dexy's stuff but never could quite understand the huge appeal of Eileen.

Save Your Love is saved the -2 as it can still bring a smile to my face, most probably because of the Kenny Everett parody at the time.

-2 Nicole “A Little Peace” As someone on another forum suggested. The 500th UK number one, and the 500th best at that time!

+15 Irene Cara “Fame”

+12 Culture Club “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me”

+10 Madness “House of Fun”

+8 Tight Fit “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”

+6 Dexy’s Midnight Runners with The Emerald Express “Come On Eileen”

+5 Survivor “Eye Of The Tiger”

+4 Musical Youth “Pass The Dutchie”

+3 The Jam “Beat Surrender”

+1 Bucks Fizz “The Land of Make Believe”

+2 Kraftwerk “The Model/Computer Love”

I don't really care about Dexy's much either. I don't think it's love or hate though - I'm pretty ambivalent - and they had much better songs.

Whoops!

Still I only said gave points to it.

Dunno what it makes if you actually own it and haven't used it as an ashtray! :D
