That comment was made before it properly grew on me! I was actually going to chart it next time around :P

May I remind you that I publicly on this forum rated Lena's Satellite as a 7.5/10 on the first listen. It later topped my 2010 EOY chart after spending 9 weeks at #1...

I know. :D Gotye's track is the only track I've discovered in the last month that I've liked enough to enter. I noticed a few other songs from various countries that were "contenders" but I didn't really feel happy sending something stereotypically Buzzjack that I thought was ok at the most. :( As it goes, some of those have been entered into BJSC XXXVII anyways.

Isn't 7.5/10 a good score? :o Oh well, if there are people who discover the track and like it then my work here is done (for this month at least!!! :D ).

Yes it's a 'good' score, but hardly the sort of mark that I should have been rating what eventually became my favourite song of the year! I've always been more of a 'songs grow with more listens' person though, 90% of songs go on to peak in my personal chart higher than they've debuted.

Poor brave Nadine. Curse of that massive debut at #1 with 'Insatiable' last year. Where did it end up in your Top 100 of 2010 after what seemed like a dramatic exit after such a big debut?

Yes I know, I've trodden more carefully with Nicola's singles, thank goodness I didn't debut Beat Of My Drum anywhere near #1

That said, I do still really like Insatiable but perhaps it shouldn't have quite been a #1! It managed to finish 37th in my top 100 of the year which isn't the disaster that it could have been...I've had #1's that have completely missed my EOY top 40 before!

Batidas had the honours of hosting the final of BJSC XXXVII whilst Isconia put on an excellent show during the semi final stages of the competition. It was a pleasure to work alongside such a wonderful country. Last night, the final of BJSC XXXVII took place at the Batidome where Farahtyn ended the night celebrating their first ever win.

As for Batidas, we were unable to break the BJSC record for most consecutive top 10 finishes for a debuting country. Gotye featuring Kimbra, who represented Batidas, finished 13th on the leaderboard. The Daily Hits caught up with Kimbra after the ceremony had concluded at the aftershow party to ask what she thought of the overall results "we should've performed the HI-NRG disco version instead to appeal to the FANZ".

The search is now on once again to see if we can discover our next entry. Whether Batidas is able to see themselves return to the top 10 is left to be seen. :D

Just realised that I was 10 points from 4th place, insane how close the final was this time round! :o

You would've been 4th or 5th most definitely although that does depend on who else would get points. I know Chris posted what his votes were but neither of us got points so had he voted, not only would've ChrIseland stayed comfortably inside the top 10, but his own votes would've pushed us further down the scoreboard.

I call it fate. It was meant to happen. If only Utopia had voted, can't say for certain but I think Batidas could've been looking at 100 points too but still miss the top 10. :(

Semi Final 2:

21. Batidas: Andre Ola feat. Hèlene- Erase You

The identity of the Batidas entry for BJSC XXXVIII has been revealed. Representing us this time round is Romanian singer Andreea Olariu AKA André Ola whose entry 'Erase You' is the 21st track in semi final 2. The 14 year old (yes 14!!! we thought she was 17 or 18 :D ) has become an internet sensation since winning Italy's Jury Prize on an Italian music show, and invited to audition for America's Got Talent.

'Erase You', featuring Hélene, is by far the most "pop" entry to represent Batidas. With so many pop loving nations participating in BJSC, we're hoping quite a few others will make a discovery with this song.

The results of BJSC XXXVIII have been revealed and Batidas have failed to qualify for the live final. At a press conference this afternoon Chryss Topfér, the president of Batidas, said "hahahahaa! No, I'm not disappointed. We wanted to cater to the overly pop loving nations and they just didn't like the song enough. I'm shocked at a couple of the live final qualifiers. Having heard all the songs myself, there are a couple that have made the final I expected to sink without trace".

Have Batidas lost their BJSC touch? Topfér doesn't think so "We haven't lost our touch yet. If we fail to qualify next month with a song we love then possibly".

In other news, André Ola featuring Hélene 'Erase You' has been removed from Batidas iTunes after the song only climbed as high as #23 after its initial release two weeks ago before plummeting out of the top 100 within its first 7 days on sale. However, Batidas' other contender - Lykke Li 'I Follow Rivers (The Magician Remix)' - which lost out to 'Erase You' has proved more popular climbing all the way to #1 on Batidas iTunes. We will never know if this was a BJSC final contender in the making. Check out the brilliant track below.

All of this begs the question - Why didn't you send Lykke!?!? :drama: That would have got 6-8 points from FSR Rontvia judging by what I know about my votes so far.

I'm sad to see you out of the final, a BJSC final without Batidas is like a UK top 40 without Rihanna - it feels like something's missing! The FANZ are too unreliable and unpredictable, always go for the song that YOU love the most!

Will Erase You still make your personal chart?

I would have thought Lykke Li would be banned - for similar reasons to M83, I Follow Rivers was quite the success across many poster's personal charts - plus on top of that it's not long since she won the contest.

Though I do obviously agree that it's a better track.

Dandy* has pretty much answered GD's question for me. Considering Lykke Li only won back in April, I genuinely thought it'd be veto'd as too well known like 'Midnight City' was. I guess we will never know. Thing is, had Lykke Li been veto'd, I'd most likely would have gone with 'Erase You' rather than the "Heineken advert" song anyways. :D

Never mind, I've learnt from my mistakes. Roll on BJSC 39. Although I've still got to wait for the BJSC 38 voting thread. This months contest is going to take up the space of 2 contests at the speed it's going. Poor Martyn!!! :(

As for 'Erase You', it's a bit like Eurovision. I've only ever charted my fave songs from the Eurovision final. If I really like a song in a semi final and it DNQ's, then I've never charted it.[/sillychartrules]. So in BJSC I've followed the same method - hence why Dandy's entry last month never made my chart even though I liked it (although it probably wouldn't have made my top 10) so yes 'Erase You' by rights (ie; sillychartrules) shouldn't. Luckily for Gotye, had this happened last month, the success of 'STIUTK' in the HIT30 would've meant the song could still qualify for my chart.

Now, how confused are you after reading that?

It seems as if the mods were being more lenient this month than usual, well according to them anyway! Seeing as it was a remix and also quite a few months old now I think they would have let it through. Karma Karma was just as big across personal charts on Buzzjack many months ago and that was allowed in, plus it's the original and not a remix. As for winning the contest, Charice won more recently than Lykke and has been sent again since so I doubt that would have been a factor.

Ah well, there's always next month Hits, return in style with a win!

You can blame me Hits for you not sending Lykke Li, I'm sure I said I thought it would be disqualified when you asked me. Oooops!

If in doubt confirm it anyway and the mods will soon tell you if they're going to veto it, there's nothing to lose!

I quite like Erase You, first heard it some months ago on spanish radio. Surprised it flopped for you actually.

Lykke Li? She can piss right off :D

They were playing that remix in Jack Wills recently  It's very good, but I prefer the original (and Erase You!)

Batidas ıı Amatorski - Soldier ıı

Kopečka have announced the BJSC IXL Semi Finals with Batidas drawn 8th in SF1. Representing us this time round is Amatorski 'Soldier'.

After the disaster that was 'Erase You', Batidas have gone back to their roots and entered a song we like. It's another trademark haunting indie/pop ballad complete with icy synths to send chills down your spine, and female vocals as fragile as bone China teacups.

Amatorski are a Belgian band formed in 2008 showcasing their melancholic and narrative styles with reminiscences of Portishead, Sigur Rós and Radiohead. 'Soldier' is their latest single released and is currently climbing up the Ultratop Belguim (Flanders) Top 50.

This song won another contest on a german forum 3 weeks ago. Maybe a good sign? :o :D

Out of interest, what contest was this. Was it a German music forum similar to Buzzjack? :D
