Hardly surprising seeing as the contest went out 4 hours before the end of trade, there'll be more in there next week.

HE WILL BE POPULAR

I like trains. Especially if you go with a bunch of people you know. It's a lot of fun!

And i've never flown before. :( Plus trains are much cheaper.

Flying can be just as fun, plus its sooooooooooooooooooooo much quicker.

It can actually be far cheaper to fly to London than it is to get a train. It's also cheaper for me to Drive to Edinburgh than it would be to get a train.

Not really...

I could get a return flight to Sweden for £30, to get there by train I'd need at least £300-£400 and about 3 or 4 days spare.

Granted a £500 return flight to Azerbaijan isn't cheap but I don't even want to entertain how much it would cost to go by train from here, let alone how long it would take!

I suppose an Interrail ticket would be an option, but the cost of getting to London then through the Chunnel makes it so much cheaper and easier to fly.

It's more expensive for me to drive from Wrexham to Brighton than it is to go on the train, but that's what happens when you have a Young Persons Railcard and a car with a 2.2 engine  Without the train discount and with a cheaper to run car it would be a no-brainer to drive it.

I've always been intrigued by those but I'm not sure of the restrictions and how/when to use them exactly...

1.4 and Scotrail makes driving far cheaper in Scotland.

I can imagine

Just looked up the Interrail prices - not bad, but the furthest down they go is Turkey, so you'd need to get across to Azerbaijan from there and it would no doubt be a logistical nightmare! Not that I'd EVER go that far by train anyway, I'd need a good 2 or 3 weeks off work to do it all.

I cant believe how cheap it is for a return from London to Sweden is!! :o

As for Azerbaijan been searching and its looking round £350 for flights :o

Bear in mind this is with Ryanair and going from London Stansted to some obscure airport on the outskirts of Stockholm  Still, you can get them for incredibly cheap prices.

There was no way I'd ever travel through the arse end of Europe, into Turkey and then through to Azerbaijan by train. It'd take forever, involve a million changes and not to mention I'd be terrified of getting robbed. I'd fly there, but I couldn't travel that far on a train. They are too small and cramped.

By the outskirts of Stockholm, you mean Dublin yes? :heehee:

I completely agree, like I said, it would be a logistical nightmare. The amount of planning involved and booking reservations in advance is too much to even think about

Close enough

Travelling there by train would be so stressful I'd need a holiday just to recover

Could always road trip it to Sweden. Ferry to Esbjerg then drive across the mainland, over the bridge to København, then over the bridge to Malmo and up the E4 to Stockholm

Exactly

I wouldn't mind that at all funnily enough :o As long as I wasn't driving!

Thinking about it that could actually be a pretty amazing holiday.

Overnight ferry [that part I don't like] then stay the night in Copenhagen and spend the day driving to Stockholm. Could easily do it in a single day, but this way means I'd not spend like 12hours driving and there would be frequent stops for things like CD's in Sweden :heehee:

Agreed.

I suppose it could be done by train via Esbjerg as well without taking too long. I actually don't mind ferries, how come there aren't any ferry links from the UK to Sweden or Norway anymore :(

It would be great seeing Denmark as well, and interesting to see the culture difference in the south of Sweden and Stockholm.

Agreed.

The more we talk about this the more I actually want to do it.

Denmark->Sweden->MF would be a stunning holiday

I'll be needing a full time job and the ability to save at LEAST £500-£1000 by February before even considering going anywhere :drama: Could be worse, I could be one of those stans who religiously goes to Eurovision every year, good luck saving for/getting to Baku :D

I love Eurovision, but I can't imagine what it must be like to live for it. Working and saving all year long and the only holiday you ever have is pre-determined by where the contest lands - I hope they grew to enjoy Ireland in the 90s

I'm moving back home in a Month which should save me money, but America is going to cost a fortune.

I was questioning that figure there, but then I realised my CD budget would be atmospheric.

It might just be achievable. Especially as each bit would be payable at separate times.

I doubt I could go to ESC every year like that. I like travelling and exploring, and there would be no way it'd do any exploring in ESC week  When I went to the Grand Prix I saw nothing of Melbourne.

Likewise, thank goodness as I've missed Brighton more than I thought I ever would!

Quite  And then factor in £10 per alcoholic drink!

Same here, visiting a big city for two weeks just to spend the whole time watching the same performances over and over again looking for flaws and not having time to go out and do or see anything else in the city sounds like a nightmare to me. I'd rather go for a week and just have tickets for the final.
