Please tell me why Olly Murs - Busy isin't doing that good! It's one of my favourite songs atm and my favourite song from him

Probably cos it's the 4th single off the album. Although having said that I'm still surprised it's not doing a bit better than it is.

Olly hasn't exactly been doing any promo. Well, unless I've missed it all.

It's really annoying how the pop bars on my iTunes are always out of date.

So as said at the start of the week and as per their other lead singles; the Sats start to fall on Wednesday - no matter what the release stratergy

You're sounding like a broken record. We will see next week what happens with The Saturdays.

Yeah, that's because their label has hyped the initial release a lot, although they went for a "on air/on sale" strategy : lots of video teasers, a TV performance, a video, exclusive pre-orders, promotion on social networks, etc. They really pushed the release, even without radio airplay.

It's not like "Price tag" for example, or other "on air/on sale" singles, who go on sales with no advertising AT ALL, and only gradually get promotion and hype.

Erm.... Yeah.... I've been on a couple of times in the past few days on here and hardly even mentioned the Sats...

Plus the Saturday looning never sounds like a broken record

I think the Saturdays have really shot themselves in the foot. If they're going to use the OA/OS strategy, they should have released the CD single this week too. They also should have done more promo.

I really want Katy Perry's 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)' to start gaining momentum even if it hasn't been sent to radio or hasn't got a video. It's such a great track. :P

THIS!

The whole point of OA/OS strategy though is to gradually build hype and gain momentum. If they do a big promo push first week along with a physical CD, then it means they will probably peak first week, and there is no real point in a OA/OS strategy anymore...

But it'll help the Saturdays a hell of a lot.

They're going to start to plummet once they fall out of the top 10 and, since the video is out already, they will have to rely on the dying physicals and a few minor promo platforms to reignite interest.

He's on Paul O'Grady Live this week :D

Paul O'Grady should help him get out of those 60's then! Seems to be stuck at low 60s for weeks now.

Video support isnt huge, its okay:

40 40 Olly Murs Busy Epic/ Syco 150

..cant see it in top 50 on radio. :o

Oh, but don't get me wrong, I totally agree with you.

It's like they wanted to go for a OAOS strategy, but they feared it could cost them a top10 placing, so they put a lot of effort into the initial release (lots of teasers and social networking, video, TV performance, exclusive pre-orders), but this is not the "spirit" of a OAOS strategy, when a song gradually builds momentum.

So yeah, this will ensure them a good first week placing, but now they have to count on airplay a lot in the coming week. It's a bit of a "inbetween" strategy really.

Yeah and the "inbetween" strategy is the least successful kind. :P

I can see their single having a chart run like this:

7-18-27-41-56-38-[OUT]

That rise in the 6th week being promo/CD release week.

They have did well without much airplay,tv play and much promotion I think Notorious will do fine :).

The looning your claiming is quite ridiculas this has been quite calm compared to previous months of fans. When an artist who is liked releases a song many people wish for it to sucedd not just saturdays.

If you think that's going to be the chart run you really are dellusional.

Well, I think there's no 'spirit' of OA/OS to be honest... The whole thing was introduced because loads of sales were being lost due to the late releases of songs. The main idea of OA/OS is that you can buy the song once you heard it on the radio or somewhere and liked it without waiting for pointless several weeks just to buy it. Loads of people don't wait and download it illegally which leads to losses for record labels. And how do you promote the song during on air - on sale is just the matter of "taste" and exact strategy record company uses.

Personally, I think the release was handled excellently. Maybe I would indeed push the physical release forward, but I don't think they should rush it and release it this week. It would cost more for the label (like all things doing in a rush), but the return wouldn't be that big... Plus, it's the matter of what, 2-3k? Not going to help them really.

If the song doesn't have longevity with this strategy then it simply didn't click with the public and it would have bombed even more with the classical release, just with a higher peak, e.g. Forever is Over. But I can see quite a few of top-20 - top-30 weeks for 'Notorious'.

The 'management on holiday on the single release week' bit was very hilarious though.

"Realistic" would be the word I'd use.

Why not using the live Pop Bars link on the first post/first page ;)

Alexandra Stan top 5 :cheer:

Saturdays down to 8- can't say I'm surprised

Templecloud 15th now :o these songs in adverts really do connect with the public, I think this could go top 10 if its shown prime time like during BGT
