May 27, 201114 yr Author #18 & 17 018 || Mira Craig - I'm The One [FNT Nickodonia - XV] jya22mwYnwE An enquiry is underway to discover why this isn't top 10. I'm The One, complete with it's Video of Life, is straight up epic an it's about time Mira got some love here. 017 || Tone Damli - I Know [Tinnmark - XV] mssXKVKXPSk Here comes the loon, loon, loon, loon, here comes the loon, loon, loon, loon. It's no secret I'm actually in love with this magnificent woman. So it should be no surprise to see the weakest of her 3 entries make the top20.
May 27, 201114 yr Author Would you count Butterflies as a 'risk' or was that a one off 'let's get a hit' entry? Because it was about as risky as me sending the likes of Shackles, Brittany McDonald, Anna Abreu and Sheelah - i.e. not particularly :lol:It was a most certainly a ARRRRGH ENOUGH WITH THE FLOPS HERE HAVE THE SONG OF THE YEAR INSTEAD entry
May 27, 201114 yr It was a most certainly a ARRRRGH ENOUGH WITH THE FLOPS HERE HAVE THE SONG OF THE YEAR INSTEAD entry  I remember commenting somewhere that you'd be foolish not to send it as there's no way it wouldn't make the top ten. I was right  Still, the 12 from Mdice is still the most shocking thing to ever happen in BJSC, perhaps only slightly more shocking than Uh Huh Her's win.
May 27, 201114 yr Author The Ashton entry rank - #13 13 || Natalie Bassingthwaighte - Turn The Lights On - XXV 5vDmyp-T8iw What happens when a stunning and mind-blowing pop ballad is drawn into the most ridiculously indie semi of all time? IT DIES  This is one of my all time favourite ballads, so raw and powerful and and and just stunning

I was right  Still, the 12 from Mdice is still the most shocking thing to ever happen in BJSC, perhaps only slightly more shocking than Uh Huh Her's win. I know right! I most certainly did not see that one coming  A lot of Tone's points came from surprising places.
May 27, 201114 yr I know right! I most certainly did not see that one coming  A lot of Tone's points came from surprising places. Some of the indie crowd would have snubbed it to save face no doubt, even if they loved it, so massive kudos to Ben for going ahead with that as his 12 pointer :o
May 27, 201114 yr Author #16 & 15 016 || Booty Luv - Say It [Hendinia - XVI] _4sILJLsJsQ Coming straight off the back of my trip to Sydney where I played this on repeat for almost the entire four days, this insanely uninspired entry is a favourite of mine purely because of the memories it brings back. I'm sure reminding me of climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge is worth of a top20 placing. 015 || Siobhan Donaghy - Don't Give It Up [baNG - XXI] jgCOxDiN4Bo Released a year ahead of its time, this trail blazing pop/indie epic from original Sugababes [RIP ] member Siobhan [That ginger one that got lost in a toilet in Japan] is the first track in the top15. Such a criminal flop, this song is just incredible and far better than anything noted cunt Ellie Goulding or Marina/Florence et al have released.
May 27, 201114 yr Author Some of the indie crowd would have snubbed it to save face no doubt, even if they loved it, so massive kudos to Ben for going ahead with that as his 12 pointer :o It's hard not to love  Iirc Ben gave it 12 because it really shocked him, he expected to hate it because of the ESC connection but it turned out to be rather brilliant and hence the 12. This is partially why I insist that Butterflies should still be at #1 now.
May 27, 201114 yr Author The Ashton entry rank - #12 12 || Gabrielle Aplin - The Liar And The Lighter - XXVII g7MXAIVjwcY A cover of the You And Me @ 6 track thrust Ashton back into the spotlight the contest before taking their début victory. This is a sensational cover by a very talented lass who is surely destined for big big big things. This entry really refocused Risks FTW and it's since turned into a very successful strategy for us. If you haven't heard any of Ashton's entries [and by now you should have been listening as we go along] everything from here onwards is essential as it describes Ashton's sound completely.
May 27, 201114 yr Author #14 & 13 014 || Kate Miller-Heidke - Words [Dalisska - XI] xoCNFFBaOek Yes Sean, you do have a track in this countdown. Words, aka the best entry from BJSC XI and Dalisska, is a glorious piece of pop music and is criminally underrated on this forum. SORT IT OUT ASAP. [The video suits this song PERFECTLY] 013 || Mira Craig - Headhunted [FSR Rontvia - X] Lhuwf8oxAkI The most marmite BJSC entry of all time starts off the FSR Rontvia lovefest. If you don't love this not only will you make the baby jesus cry, but you are just straight up wrong. This song is sheer amazingness from beginning to end with it's trashy lyrics and fantastic melody. Then there's the video, dear god is freaking fabulous [And I don't use that word much].
May 27, 201114 yr Author The Ashton entry rank - #11 11 || Cristina Rus - I Don't See Ya - XXIX DZF7i2wjVoo For our host entry, the Federal Republic turned to Romania for a slice of Dance/Pop perfection that the country has suddenly become a unspoiled fountain of. This fantastic track, Ashton at it's finest, provided us with our first back to back top 10's since BJSC 8 and 9. Clearly we are going to have to return to Romania in the future for some more epic.
May 27, 201114 yr Insanely high for one of my DNQ's  After the DNQ it was further insulted by not only some mediocre Sophie Ellis-Bextor track, but also the Saturdays' debut single beating it in the Rejects final - terrible, it's the most iconic 'reject' of all time. (Hyperbole and bias may have been present in the preceding sentence). Mira is a god  Words is amazing too, file next to Headhunted in the marmite/under-appreciated section. At least it reached its respective final though...
May 27, 201114 yr Author #12 & 11 012 || Maria Haukaas Storeng & Mira Craig - Mine All Mine [FSR Rontvia - VII] uV7gV2aEi7o The UK Airplay #1 that never was :( Utterly fantastic collab between Maria and Mira here [They NEED to do an album together ASAP] This track perfectly captured the sound that was ruling the charts at the time and is just amazing. 011 || Markoolio & Linda Bengtzing - Värsta Schlagern [FSR Rontvia - XXVIII] d5Z1Mhemupk While allies Ashton were busy winning the 28th contest, FSR Rontvia were entering a MF Parody which accidentally happens to be the highlight of the Absolute Schlager CD. This song is pure camp schlager amazingness that channels Abba to such an extent that they surely have writing credits. The lyrics are fucking GENIUS.

There is no more iconic DNQ than the old guard trio of BJSC X.

The lyrics are fucking GENIUS. :o I really didn't expect to see Värsta Schlagern anywhere near this high! It is amazing though, the video in particular - at least it is to anyone with a passing interest in MF and gets the 'in-jokes'. Perhpas not the wisest choice of entry in terms of getting a potential hit, but at least it brought it some well deserved attention, and gave me a good excuse to chart it in my personal chart :D Mine All Mine is of course incredible, as is the entireity of its parent album. Also; Soul pop ruling the charts >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Identikit club bangers ruling the charts I reject that there is any hyperbole or bias in that sentence at all, it's clearly true. There is no more iconic DNQ than the old guard trio of BJSC X. You would :P Indeed, three excellent tracks snubbed because everyone had a short term taste bypass.
May 27, 201114 yr Author The Ashton entry rank - #10 10 || Lily Allen - I Don't Know (The Fear) - VI q-wGMlSuX_c As soon as this leaked I knew I had to enter this into BJSC. This iconic Ashtonise entry was the first top3 for the country [One of only 2] and our first back to back top 5's [only repeated once since in XXX and XXXI]. Coming second to Quotosibb's legendary début the sixth contest really stepped up the game with two brilliant tracks leading the field. This song is truly legendary and I wish she'd give up this retirement $h!te and knock another album out.

Värsta Schlagern is slowly, but surely, climbing my most played charts. Thanks to the Absolute Schlager CD I'm still addicted. Given how much I adore out and out schlager like Alcazar it shouldn't have come as much of a surprise. Hit or not it just had to be entered, something that Glorious couldn't remain a FSR Rontvian Internal Selection reject. This is very true. Her first two albums were very strong. MARIA ALBUM RATE Hold On Be Strong - 8/10 Breathing - 7/10 Make My Day - 2/10 Scandipop ruling the charts would pwn all :kink: A team of psychologists couldn't figure out wtf happened in that contest.
