Also, you can generally get the CD for around the same price or cheaper than a download. Plus you don't need to worry about losing a computer file or your hard drive knackering.

Though that shouldn't be too much of an issue, as your iPod/MP3 player effectively serves as a back-up...

Not really, no. If you can't tell the difference, your speakers/headphones aren't very good quality.

Or your ears, as you get older...

i love CDs for album as it is something there can I can keep and collect. I have and download far too many singles so downloading is the quicker and easy way, aswell as saving me space.

download for singles- I can't really be bothered to go out to just buy one song, FAR more convenient to just download on itunes or even rip off youtube (although the quality isn't great then :P )

however for albums, physicals- I'd rather hear the whole thing on CD than get it all on my ipod and then have to delete tracks I don't like, I always buy physicals for albums

Songs - Physical and Download. If it's one of my favourite artists, I buy their single physically and if I only like one song, I buy it via iTunes

Albums - Physical. ALWAYS physical as I love to have the copy of the CD in my hands with the booklet <3

Interesting poll results - while the physical/download split for albums closely reflect real sales patterns, those for singles are massively different!

Only 1% of singles sold are physical, but roughly 1/3rd of people here would/do still buy physical singles!

It seems record companies, once again, are missing a trick - clearly many people are only buying download singles because they have no other choice. :( Even allowing for the small sample size, there is clearly still a far more significant market for physical singles than record companies are prepared to admit.

I would definately by more CD singles if they weren't so expensive. I do buy them when I have a little spare money, but £2-3.99 for a 2 track single that I'm only gonna listen to one track of just isn't worth it. And they lose my sales because I don't like downloading my music, I'd rather only get the album... :/

I hate it when a single isn't released on CD or Vinyl as well...the first time it happened, it really cocked up my collecting my personal chart #1's lol

Good point - I'd forgotten about the cost element of the equation.

physical albums, download singles....not enough single cds about nowadays...

Can't believe people find it really expensive to buy single cds in the UK when they're around £1.99-£3.99 and in the Japan single cds are around £11-20

Downloads for single and physicals for albums. I like having everything neat, and if I physically bought all my singles, I'd have far too many CDs than I'd know what to do with.

Singles - Downloads - easier, cheaper, quicker etc

Albums - Physicals - I like actually having the artwork, booklet, CD etc

I like Physical albums, albums I do not download never did and never will, I like having a CD collection and a disc to pop into my stereo, as for singles it's got to be download, It's more convenient and easy access, I like getting music instantly to put on my ipod with a click of a button.
Physicals for both. I don't like paying for products that I can't touch.
it's a practicality thing with me - we hardly get any physical singles in Ireland any more so I have to download one if I want to have it. I also download an album to investigate it but I buy the physical if it's by an artist I support.

For me almost the same - first of all download to catch if i like it and then buy physical vinyl cd.

Of course downloads' part will grow, cause that's just more comfy and quick.
