June 17, 201114 yr Interesting to know, I'd assumed that it was another iTunes dominated country, but then the iTunes charts never look anything like the official charts so I don't know why I thought that  He needs to get out there and sign some physical CDs for adoring teenage girls, that will send him back up, didn't he do that at some point last year and it led to a huge resurgence to #1 for Manboy months after Melodifestivalen?
June 17, 201114 yr  Poor Eric. As much as I LOVE Popular though, Sweden do have far better male popstars that he's fairly redundant aside from his appearance. Mans Zelmerlow, Darin, Ola and Danny (if we count his E.M.D. stuff too) are all better on the whole imo. I'm sort of interested in his new album but the last one was patchy - I'm not used to hearing Swedish pop albums that aren't 100% brilliant.
June 17, 201114 yr Clearly his popularity in Sweden has been VASTLY overstated by a certain blogger... And I'm pretty sure he's on Spotify over there, so it's no defence really.
June 17, 201114 yr Clearly his popularity in Sweden has been VASTLY overstated by a certain blogger... And I'm pretty sure he's on Spotify over there, so it's no defence really. I guess the proof in the pudding is how well the album does, his last one got to #1 and has been in the charts for 38 weeks apparently (still top 25 now) so I wouldn't put him in the same bracket as say, McFly here with just a big fanbase single buy first week and nothing else. But yeah, there's no way of covering up a literal one week wonder single is there, he's got to be concerned about that. Had Darin released the same song (and the melody does have some similarities to Love Killer in places!) it would be top five for weeks, and he wouldn't need to do any signings to get it there. That said, it's been a LONG time since I witnessed such a drop off in quality from one single to the next from a Swedish popstar and it doesn't bode well for the album if this is the second strongest song on it.
June 17, 201114 yr I quite like it to be honest...it's not Popular (in either sense of the word) but I wouldn't have said it was a HUGE drop in quality.

Maybe I'm exaggerating but it seemed as if his career had moved up a notch this year and after Popular and then the top 3 at ESC and him wanting to branch out from Sweden and go international I was expecting a killer second single rather than a subdued club banger. My expectations were probably too high.

I don't think it's hugely standout, but I do think it's a move in the right direction and a much more international sound than anything from his first album or indeed Popular. The album itself will be telling...I suppose there wasn't really anything to say whether Hearts In The Air would be the first international single - I doubt it will be now!

The album itself will be telling...I suppose there wasn't really anything to say whether Hearts In The Air would be the first international single - I doubt it will be now! I hope not! It would be about as welcome as Danny launching his international career with an inferior version of a 4 year old song! Oh wait... I just think that he could do with standing out a bit more with his big international debut - Release Me sounded like nothing else on UK radio with the big strings and chorus so people were lapping it up. When we have US artists doing much better club bangers, I'm struggling to see why radio would want to bother with something like Hearts In The Air.
June 17, 201114 yr Eric has been a terrible single seller thus far. Only Manboy from the first album hit the top 40, and both Masquerade and It's Gonna Rain failed to even chart. His under-performance isn't something new, but it is rather puzzling. On the subject of Heart's In The Air, It's no Popular but I am still loving it regardless.
June 17, 201114 yr Author It's hardly THAT big a drop in quality, but inevitably when you have something as good as Popular the followup is going to have to be something pretty special not to seem like a dip.
June 18, 201114 yr Hearts In The Air falls 2-OUT in Sweden  It's still miles better than what Danny's second single from Set Your Body Free did. Danny - "Need To Know" 39-X :drink:
June 18, 201114 yr Why Danny chose to release Need To Know from that album of surefire hits i wil never know  Two clips have been released of Saades new album... Killed By A Cop and Me And My Radio, both rather fantastic
June 20, 201114 yr Someone New: http://www.scandipop.co.uk/?p=6176 It's a ballad, but unlike the slowies from the previous album it sounds very promising. Rich, there are strings!
June 20, 201114 yr Author Oh good, I was afraid it was going to be a plodding dirge with just his VOX for company for the most part. It's actually sounding rather promising and much more in the Break of Dawn school of ballads, rather than the 'It's Like That With You' school.
June 20, 201114 yr I heard 'Me and My Radio' a while ago... it's VERY 'Dancing On My Own'. The intro is basically identical. I prefer it to 'Hearts in the Air', though.
June 20, 201114 yr Oh good god that is stunning, especially in comparison the the ballads from the debut.
June 21, 201114 yr So far I am not impressed and still prefer Danny. Hell, I even prefer Masquerade to this!
