Let's all get the mechanics of this correct though. Does a record label PAY a show to feature their act or vice versa or is it a contract of mutual consent (i.e. one where no money passes either way)? I'd honestly like to know the answer to this as I'm unawares.

I suspect some money will have passed from Nicole's team to ITV. To have been featured on all three of their major primetime shows with what was a very minor solo profile prior. You don't just get OFFERED that sort of thing. It's a gamble as to whether people catch on and buy the records but one that seems to be working at the moment.

She is still producing a very expensive campaign and one that her label surely needs slightly more revenue coming in from album sales. She's had GOOD single sales but needs GREAT in everything to support her elevated campaign structure one would have thought...

I think it's the latter in most cases. It's all down to the management skills, artist's profile and label connections (e.g. mostly Sony acts on X-Factor). Let's just imagine how much would the promo on, say, BGT would cost? 50k? 100k? If yes, those money won't probably be even recouped, let alone make any profit, see Avril Lavigne. Of all BGT performers this year, I can see only Nicole getting some profit if the label/management paid for it. Besides, a performer attracts additional viewers to a TV show, how could we measure that and how should affect the deal price?

And there's no point for a TV show to accept the offer price lower than the mentioned 50k, they make much bigger money from other advertisement etc. I also can't see why the TV show itself should pay anybody for the performance, as the artist wins too, with promo and exposure. So... I think it's the deal without making any money for either sides.

My poor little Nicola down to 21 :(

It's not too bad since she has yet to perform the song on tv, but I hope it can stall in the top 30 until airplay kicks in.

Tbh I'm surprised she even got this high in the first place, there is so much hatred for her its awful. Not just based on the song. I'm hoping Top 25 this week, and then Top 20 when the promo kicks in. I have a feeling it'll be about #24 come Sunday.

I'm the complete opposite. I quite like her & think she's the best vocalist in the group. She comes across with Kimberley as the most likeable members of GA but the song is just garbage. Guess I'm just getting old.

Fair enough if people don't like the song, I just hate when people don't like it simply coz its her and coz she is Ginger and apparently Ugly.

Personally I LOVE the song but I can see why people would find it annoying. Porcelain Heart on the otherhand is pure perfection.

It basically tends to prove that Itunes pre-orders are not showing in the Itunes position. That's the only thing which could explain why she's charting so high in the midweeks.

But they do who, because that's why tracks which have been available for pre-order always enter so high as opposed to tracks which haven't and the gap is quickly closed, or like Example where the pre-order will go to the albums chart instead because of the length of track.

Forget Nicola Roberts! Ain't no one happy that Paramore are already up to #14 :w00t:

I really hope they can get at least top 5 on itunes and hopefully at least top 15, even better top 10 on the official top40

How can Paramore be 14 when it was at 25 this morning...

Is there data missing?

#13 now, it's just climbed rapidly. It was barely top 40 last night.

we could see a rock song in the itunes top 10 for the first time in a long time, i think paramore have a great chance

Why would anyone hate her because she is Ginger-I think the song is a good first effort but it sounds rather like Drummer Boy which did not go down well.I think she has a really good voice and needed something to show that off.
