August 23, 201113 yr Love the video, really gone off on the song though. Radio has hammered it out over here, it's unlistenable for now at least. Wow. Do you live in the US then? Here in the UK I heard it a fair bit for like a month after the album was released, but since then I've only heard it a couple of times. I think the airplay here will increase again now we've got the music video though, especially if it returns to the top 40. I'm not too worried about overplay here tbh. Rap songs can't get overplayed in the UK. Infact, the vast majority of them are underplayed imo. Some of the biggest radio stations in the country never play rapping at all. August 24, 201113 yr Yeah, I'm over in the US. The thing is, radio LOVES upbeat songs here. For example, this summer has had Party Rock Anthem, Rolling in the Deep, Last Friday Night, Give Me Everything, Good Life, Super Bass, I Wanna Go, and Lighters on repeat for MONTHS. Literally months. Other songs get decent play, but those have had the life hammered out of them. By the time summer is over, you CANNOT stand hearing them. They absolutely love anything moderately rhythmic, but you'll hear something like Jar of Hearts or Pumped Up Kicks once a week max. I still love all of those songs, but I can't listen to them until at least fall - except Super Bass, LOVE that song. Rap songs get the most overplayed. Rap is kind of like America's dance music in terms of overplayedness.

I quite like the sound of that if I'm honest! Compared to the songs that get overplayed in the UK (Just the Way You Are, Forget You, The Lazy Song, Jar of Hearts, Empire State of Mind Part II, The Flood, Someone Like You, etc.), those songs seem much better. I went to the US last summer for a few weeks, and I found the same thing really. Except back then it was Break Your Heart, Teenage Dream, Airplanes, Not Afraid, No Love, California Gurls, Alejandro, Somebody to Love, Bulletproof, Gettin' Over You, Dynamite, Take it Off, Love the Way You Lie, Ridin' Solo, Imma Be, Your Love is My Drug, and so on. All those songs remind me of that holiday. But those songs were EVERYWHERE. I quite enjoyed that tbh. :kink:

Honestly, that summer was MUCH better in terms of hit music. I still love every single one of those, even Somebody to Love in a weird, guilty pleasure kind of way. Near the end of summer they even played Cudi for a bit with Erase Me. Honestly, though, I wouldn't mind a bit more Alicia on our radio.

She had a whole album of songs which could be played on the radio, yet Empire State of Mind, Part II is STILL in the 10 most played songs on some radio stations. :drama: Kid Cudi's actually had a few radio hits here. There was Day N Nite which was HUGE! And also Memories with David Guetta was quite popular. And there was also this song he did with Kanye West which sampled Poker Face which was played a bit around the same time Day N Nite was popular. Edited August 26, 201113 yr by Eric_Blob

Still wish Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart was more played over here... Really? Make Her Say was all but a flop here. I wasn't aware Day N Nite got big over there either, was it the Crookers mix? I'd think that'd be more suited to the popular music of the time. Memories was a hit pretty much everywhere.
