BJSC Halloween: Brainbug ~ Nightmare (Sinister Strings Radio Edit)

 

 

So yes we have sent this spooky instrumental trance minor hit (UK #11, 3 weeks top 40) to the first Halloween themed spin-off. It's probably our favourite song that relates to the theme so we're glad to be able to send this.

Brainbug is a symphonic electronic trance music and progressive house project from Venice, created by Italian producer Alberto Bertapelle.[1][2] Brainbug became widely known after the release of his first single, Nightmare (1996), because of the unique blending of string instruments, haunting atmospheres and house beats.[3]

 

Nightmare appears soundtrack in several movies, (Human Traffic, Playing by Heart, Freddy vs. Jason and A Night at the Roxbury),[4][5] and is currently played during the second half kick-off at Leeds United home games at Elland Road as well as being the entrance music for the 2013 Elite League Nottingham Panthers Ice Hockey team. The music video was directed by Tim Claxton and was inspired by 1950s science fiction films, and the films of Ed Wood.[6]

 

Several remixes by various artists have been released on Brainbug's singles, and not all of Bertapelle's originals are obviously titled. "Nightmare (Sinister Strings Mix)" and "Benedictus (Exitiale Mix)" are examples of this. The Maxi-CD release of Rain also features those original mixes, although "Benedictus (Exitiale Mix)", while not labeled as an edit, was edited slightly shorter.[10][11]

 

Brainbug has also added his symphonic trance touch to other artists' works through various remixes.[12]

In the recent Halloween themed BJSC spin-off we sent another instrumental trance song, following the success of 'The Orange Theme'. It seemed to work too as we finish top 10 again, this time finishing at #10 - becoming our third #10 finish following KSHMR 'JAMMU' in BJSC77 and Camille Jones vs. Fedde Le Grand 'The Creeps' in 00s Dance Anthems. It also is our sixth top 10 finish in a spin-off [3 of those in TBOs]

Juventa give Danaelanda 9th Qualification Of The Year

 

 

We weren't sure of our chances of qualifying for the BJSC final but it seems that we have indeed made it out of the semi, for the 9th time this year too - with only poor brave Christina Novelli DNQing for us in 2015. So remember to #VoteDanaelanda ^_^

Juventa outperform nation's expectations

 

Whilst #29 is still considered a flop position, the DISCC (Danaelandan International Song Contest Committee) are said to be pleased with the position, as they knew it was a risk to send this and it eventually outpeaked last contest's '(Don't Go) Running', which they felt would be a certain hit and was a massive underperformance.

 

We next look out to TBO Rejects where our only entrant Christina Novelli is set to be looking out for justice, and to BJSC Christmas II, the first Christmas spin-off since 2009 and therefore the first we are taking part in...

A nice little house song which became another top 20 hit for the nation, but sadly there had to be a last-placer and it in the end became this. We still enjoy the song but just not as much as our other efforts.

This also only made #31. What is up with us and hitting that position with absolutely excellent songs? This also sounds like a minor chart smash that got away, sadly it didn't even make the Radio 1 dance anthems playlist even though it sounds perfect for that show.

Now we get to the top 3 which to be honest are far better than the rest. We start off with this BANG!ng entry, helped by the deep house production and the amazing vocal of April - and even Sandy himself steps in to harmonise in the second verse which sounds lush (I think that's him singing). It did manage to make the top 20 anyway which we are proud of.
