Does anyone know what would be considered 'exceptionally high' audience impressions in the US, I mean how high can it go?...

Another million+ increase for Adele :D I wonder how long she can keep this up for. She's down to #5 on US iTunes now, LMFAO already overtook it (but they've still barely pulled ahead at all) and since then 2 newies from Bieber and Drake have overtaken, plus Rihanna & Calvin. Very close between 2 and 5 but Bieber has a lead of over 50% -_-

The record is by Mariah Carey's We Belong Together, it scored 223 million audience impressions in July 2005. And if I recall correctly Beyonce's Irreplaceable ranks second. But the only way to get that kinda numbers is to have an urban ballad to cross over to rhythmic and pop the same time and there haven't been any for a while. Rihanna's What's My Name got to something like 170+m and that is very good this day of age. Interesting to see when there will be another 200+m hit.

Disappointed to see Nicole Scherzinger dropping already, hopefully her new single gets her a new US Peak.

SLY will probably be aiming to match or slightly beat that in that case. Although even if it doesn't match it, to get two songs over 150m in a year must be pretty rare.

I guess for British artists Leona's Bleeding Love may have a big figure? How huge did Rolling in the Deep's get? and SLY has 150mill which is incredible too ofcourse! Amazing achievement for any British Act to get #1 on radio in the US! :o :dance:

LOL, SLY won't get anywhere near 200m, urban and urban ac stations haven't touched it and I really don't see those stations ever starting to play it. And the impressions that it is getting from urban are so low and the increases so small that if it ever even becomes a moderate top 20 hit there it will be falling on other formats by then. So maybe 10m more and that's it since it has no urban support (nor alternative where RITD made into top 20). But still very good for her.

 

The record for a British artist, I'd say it is RITD. The panel expanded big time late 1990s (actually it was only back then when they started to include urban stations into total impressions) and since then there really haven't been that many hits by British artists that have been that big. Bleeding Love topped at around 140m impressions so that probably was the record holder before RITD (if I am not forgetting some huge hit) but after BL especially pop top 40 format has expanded big time and tens of new stations have been added so nowadays it is way easier to get audience impressions there well over what BL got back in 2008.

Can I ask - what is this list, and why are some of the songs not included on the main daily airplay update?

those are the songs who's getting plays on the radio without an official add to the radio stations.. they are official singles mostly but they having the date when they will be added to the main list..

LOL, SLY won't get anywhere near 200m, urban and urban ac stations haven't touched it and I really don't see those stations ever starting to play it. And the impressions that it is getting from urban are so low and the increases so small that if it ever even becomes a moderate top 20 hit there it will be falling on other formats by then. So maybe 10m more and that's it since it has no urban support (nor alternative where RITD made into top 20). But still very good for her.

 

The record for a British artist, I'd say it is RITD. The panel expanded big time late 1990s (actually it was only back then when they started to include urban stations into total impressions) and since then there really haven't been that many hits by British artists that have been that big. Bleeding Love topped at around 140m impressions so that probably was the record holder before RITD (if I am not forgetting some huge hit) but after BL especially pop top 40 format has expanded big time and tens of new stations have been added so nowadays it is way easier to get audience impressions there well over what BL got back in 2008.

 

Well if it's getting pretty close to RITD's peak without the support from urban and alternative radio (and I think it could get to around 160-165m, since it's STILL gaining over a million a day) that just makes its massive airplay even more impressive. I didn't say SLY would get anywhere near 200m, RITD is one of the biggest airplay hits of recent times and still didn't get near 200m, I'm not sure anything will ever do that :lol: It's doing amazingly well as it is, it's unique among Billboard Hot 100 #1s in that it's the only one ever which contains nothing but a piano and a voice.

 

RITD probably is the record holder for a Brit actually. There have probably only been about four or five #1s on Radio Songs by British acts this century.

The difference between this airplay chart and the one Billboard uses meant Someone Like You stalled at #2 again (fourth week there) on the Radio Songs chart last night :( It should definitely get there this Wednesday though surely. Just a shame it's missed its chance at simultaneously being #1 on both sales and airplay (and the Hot 100 obvz).
