June 27, 201114 yr Funny that, I said the same thing yesturday. 1 week Top 20 is laughable  but as long as it sells in the long run fair enough. I think top 20 is a gaurantee this week, three versions top 1000 and 7% ahead of 21, more hopefully after the graham Norton repeat. I hope Radio 1 gives this one more week as it's doing the opposite of missing you and is climbing. Missing You at this time was dropping down to #26 in the charts. I think Notorious will gradually outsell missing you depending on if the radio's decide to support this.
June 27, 201114 yr I think Notorious will gradually outsell missing you depending on if the radio's decide to support this. But they wont. Why would they suddenly start supporting a track that's potentially already half-way through it's chart life? Radio 1 have had it A-Listed for 2wks and it's only peaked at #36 on Airplay and that was before it was A-Listed, and rose to #38 on it's 2nd week of A-List. No other station seems to be playing it much. And worse still Radio 1 will either drop it this week or next as it's already been in their playlist coming up 6wks.

June 28, 201114 yr But they wont. Why would they suddenly start supporting a track that's potentially already half-way through it's chart life? Then what's the point of doing air/on sale if radios are not changing their habits? In the rest of the world acts count on themselves to sell in the first weeks, and then they rely on the radios to play the song, so it can sell for the next months. Now it's the time for radios to pick up Notorious. It's been selling great without their support, people buy the song if they are given the chance to get to listen to it, so they have a reason to keep paying it some attention now. Radio airplay never starts on a peak, it grows very slowly, it's only that in the UK that growth used to take place in the period of promotion when the song wasn't available.
June 28, 201114 yr yes it says right there. Oops yes, sorry miss-read your paragraph wrong. The point is though it peaked higher when it was on the C-List beause other stations where playing it too since it was the first week of release. Then since then not even a week on A-List has helped them to get higher than #36. Then what's the point of doing air/on sale if radios are not changing their habits? In the rest of the world acts count on themselves to sell in the first weeks, and then they rely on the radios to play the song, so it can sell for the next months. Exactly! Radios do need to change their habbits. They've seen Notorious's chart run and not bothered to support it apart from Radio 1. I'd like to think that they'd still support it, but with Radio 1 seeming like the only major supporter of this track, when it's dropped in the next week or 2 from their playlist I don't see their airplay improving unless other stations start playing it, which is unlikely. June 28, 201114 yr Author So... this week 'Notorious' will overtake If This Is Love & Work in sales, and then in a few weeks later, Forever Is Over. Just a question if it will pass 'Missing You' in sales to become their highest selling first single.
June 28, 201114 yr I'm delighted they're looking likely for a climb! Lets just hope they don't freefrall when Radio1 drop them!
June 28, 201114 yr They're technically #18 in the mids as there's 2 Coldplay b-sides in the Top 20 which will be added to the sales of Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall. It's sad to think that if it wasn't for Glastonbury this year, they could have been at #16 in the mids with the absence of Beyonce and Coldplay :( Edited June 28, 201114 yr by 2ndAdventure
June 28, 201114 yr You make it sound like #16 is leaps and bounds better than #18. They should have performed at Glastonbury! Notorious is dropping now they were 5% ahead of Adele yesterday and she's ahead of them. They're back down to 20! Hopefully they can overtake Tinchy? Does anyone know if they're perofrming on This Morning? 16 anyway still a decent climb! I'm sure they will just make it and gradually outsell Missing You. Edited June 28, 201114 yr by lee wallace
June 28, 201114 yr You make it sound like #16 is leaps and bounds better than #18. I'm not sure why there's so much focus on how this single is doing still. I was over the chart performance of this after it collapsed from #8, tbh. Whether it's low Top 20 or outside of the Top 20 doesn't excite me.
June 28, 201114 yr Lee doesn't have a clue. Yeah, Not a main part though :L Even if they did something like Ed Sheeran doing performing in the studio. It wasn't a serious comment. It was a humourous comment. And I do have a clue
