How would you rate the singles chart at the moment, slow, fast, boring, etc etc, will it change in a few years time, or will it stay the same. This week is fairly exciting as you have at least 4 British acts in the top 5, and the race for #1 can be a 3 horse race.

How would you make it more interesting.

I just wish a few major artists just release new stuff, it seems there isn't any big acts releasing new material.

If you asked this about a month or so ago, then my answer would of been slow as we had a period where there was very little movement, but over the last few weeks we have had at least 3 new tracks in the Top 10, which has got rid of the deadwood that has been hanging around for months on end e.g sweat, Beautiful People.
The first few months of the year were fantastic! I'm not sure why but I got really excited when the charts were revealed! Now they don't seem to be - some of the songs are great (although there are some really awful want-to-rip-my-ears-off songs!) but everyone seems to be doing the same genre - dance (Example, Pitbull, LMFAO etc) There aren't many songs that make me go "WOW! OMG", but the ones that do seem to fall from the charts quickly or not do well at all! (Gaga, Nicola Roberts, Take That - Love Love). I hope they get better when we get further into the Summer

this is kind of my thoughts as well

I do think that with Summer here, the charts will start to speed up a little bit, which I like as it makes more interesting and songs hanging around for umpteen number of weeks in the top 10 and just going down a few places each week is just horrendously boring, it was the February/March period I was verging on not listening to the charts any more as it was SO slow,

But if songs don't hang about they will sell hardly anything (or less compared to those that do) and people won't even remember them the following year!

^I know that, but I just find it incredibly tedious at times, it felt like Sweat and Beautiful People were in the top 10 for years, and I don't think I can ever listen to them

I like seeing change and competition in the charts, I'm alright with some songs hanging around, but as long as SOMETHING is happening somewhere, which it wasn't in the period I stated

In terms of chart activity. Like songs moving around, that time in February and March I think, where Price Tag, Someone Like You, Champion and Yeah 3x sat in the top 10 for 2 months, it was DREADFUL. And it didn't help that the music was very poor.

In terms of chart activity, it's a bit better now. I can understand Sweat hanging around for so long, because it was genuinely the only good thing out, and was a grower, and other than that, whilst it has been poor, it's not as bad as it was. I wouldn't describe this as "exciting" though, and certainly not "fast"!

In terms of the music, it's very boring. No variety at all. 2011 is probably the worst year in chart music I've ever seen, after 2009 and 2010. The music all sounds the same. A song like Mr. Saxobeat, for example, it may be a good song in its own right, but it needs to get out of the chart asap, because it sounds too similar to everything else. I just feel dismayed everytime another dance-pop or europop song gets popular. It's really just become a joke now. In like 2007, for example, it was like "Wow, this is interesting, this is different", but by late-2008 it was already becoming OTT. But I never thought it'd get to this level.

When Sorry by Madonna came out, I was like "Wow, this is the best thing I ever heard", but if it got released now, I'd be :puke:.

I went for the final option, the album charts have been far more to my taste this year  I'm on the verge of switching the #1 preset station in my car from Radio 1 to Radio 2...
