Didn't Set Fire to the Rain get to #1 in some countries like 3 months ago? Because some of them got RITD before the UK, and then got SFFTR as the 2nd single.

It's mainly the UK and the US which still need the song to get promoted now.

Adele doesn't need to promote in Holland because she's HUGE there along with Alexis Jordan. Most european countries Adele doesn't need to promote as well.

I would love Adele try to crack into Japan like some of the female pop divas because she's practically cracked everywhere apart from Asia, although that said, the success would be very limited since Japan loves all pop music and they're not really into the music Adele is... But afterall, Japan is a big music industry and if you succeed you earn money too :D

Well, Adele has elements of pop in her songs. She could give it a shot.

You're right though. In in the Netherlands aswell, Set Fire to the Rain got #1 back at the beginning of April (and replaced Rolling in the Deep at #1!!!!! :o :o :o :o).

And Alexis Jordan #1 for 10 weeks. I love the song to be fair, but that would drive me insane!!

Holland has such limit taste in music xD

It's like the UK 3-4 years ago with a ton of songs having consecutive weeks at #1 :P

I don't really think Rolling In The Deep classify as doing so well WW but rather a decent success worldwide when you look at other countries charts (US excluded ofc).

Are you serious, it has been one of the biggest songs this year worldwide with it getting to no.1 in most countries and could easily end this year as the best selling song worldwide

It's not one of them massive success worldwide like Poker Face, Tik Tok, Love The Way You Lie, Just The Way You Are kind of thing though..

The thing is if rolling in the deep isn't comparable to the songs you listed then I don't know what is from this year and what will be as big as rolling in the deep?

Well fair enough but it's not a massive success compared to the songs I listed though which I deem them as massive success. Plus Born This Way matches the success of Rolling In The Deep this year imo.

I suppose but in the long run, rolling in the deep will be a bigger success shown by longevity on both the billboard and uk charts

Rolling in the Deep has been the standout song of the year WW so far (which will probably remain till end of year too) because of its WW success and the fact its the lead single to the biggest album of the year and one of the biggest albums of all time by end of its chart run (which probably wont be over for another year or more). Its like the Bleeding Love level i'd say.

Born This Way is probably the best-selling song of the year so far worldwide, but it'll be close between it and Rolling in the Deep (and RITD is currently selling more, so will probably overtake in a few weeks or months).

But yeah, it doesn't seem like we've had any I Gotta Feeling/Poker Face sized hits so far this year. BTW and RITD have been big, but they haven't been massive smashes in almost every single country (just most of them, and still big hits in the countries where they didn't "smash").

I wonder what the biggest-selling song of the decade is worldwide aswell. California Gurls and Love the Way You Lie were the two highest-selling at the end of 2010 (and very close in sales too, I think). Just a question of if Adele and/or Lady Gaga will overtake, or if they already have.

Cue Eric's "Bleeding love 2 million sales in the uk" comment...

I'd say love the way you lie would because it would have overtaken California gurls and it is close to 5 million in the us, the biggest music Market in the world while rolling in the deep has sold 3.5 million while born this way has sold only 2.5 to 3 million compared to this. While Dynamite is the only single released in this decade to have sold 5 million in the us, it's sales in other countries have not been as strong as love the way you lie

They could be though. Bleeding Love was the best-selling song of 2008 in the world I think, and RITD looks a likely candidate for 2011.

I believe in 2007 it was Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne, 2009 was Poker Face by Lady Gaga and 2010 was California Gurls by Katy Perry.

Yes, that's true. But I really think Rolling In The Deep is such a weird #1 song and even more, a weird #1 single of the year worldwide if it's that by the end of 2011. (but I love the song :P ) It's just not one of these #1 songs that you'd expect :P

I agree. It's a good song, but I never thought it would do so well in all those European countries, and especially not the US. Same for E.T. with regards to the US. Really surprised at how big it was.

I don't know for sure if what he said is true, but I wouldn't be surprised. I was there just as the song was getting popular, and it was insanely popular. More popular than any song in the UK has been that I can ever remember. And the song was still in the top 10 on iTunes at Christmas I think, even though it was released in the summer. And it didn't get #1 either! :o

Need You Now has sold more than 5million downloads. California Gurls last update was 1month ago and that was on 4,800,000 So I'm expecting around 4,850,000 as it's still selling quite well. Love The Way You Lie meanwhile was 280,000 off 5million and I think they have sold over that in 2months (since last update)

It's a quarter after one, i'm all alone and I Need You Now... (ok 5 mins past but still)
