Why not? It's extremely summery (arguably more so than the average electro-pop "anthem") and was actually pretty big last summer. It reached it's peak in May, so I guess it could be seen as premature but I still count it as one.

But it doesn't really fulfil the whole 'being a big hit' part :P Granted, it had a decent chart run for its peak but still, it only peaked at #14.

I doubt 'Papi' will be big either. IIY only got to #9 officially so I can see 'Papi' peaking between #17-#25. Although, J.Lo hasn't exactly sold a huge amount of albums.

Yeah because a Top 10 placing is soooo terrible.

I agree, I'm Into You has done very well tbh. I think it's a very good song too, and different to most other songs at the moment.

I remember being so happy when it entered the top 40 on album release week too. :D Although I think it helped that the music video got released in the same week.

After a mega-hit multi-week #1 single and low album sales, you would expect a rather commercial rap-featured follow-up to go at least top 5 (especially with huge radio airplay and video play). I personally think #9 was quite underwhelming.

You have been on the rabbit food again :(

Too right I have. I love carrots. :P

Surely even you Mikey have to admit that Cher Lloyd stands a good chance of doing well. Just like how I don't like the new Jason Derulo single but predicted it'd go #1 (which is looking more than likely, sadly -_- ).

Most people were expecting IIY to miss the top 10 altogether, the fact it got top 10 is amazing.

You have to remember On the Floor was a lot more chart friendly than I'm Into You. It did extremely well, for what it is. Some people thought I'm Into You would flop completely, and that Papi should've been released as the 2nd single.

Swagger Jagger will do OK, I personally think it could be huge - but Cher is too hated :(

Who expected that? Given the amount of coverage it got on radio/music channels, it was more than likely to go top 10 imo.

Also, about people saying that 'Papi' should have been the second single - it is not as commercial as 'I'm Into You'. Having said that, it is a good song and I especially love the first 30 seconds of the song. Whoever thought that IIY wasn't commercial are out of their minds.

Papi less commercial than I'm Into You?

That's ridiculous. Papi is like the MOST mainstream song, like ever. It's so much like everything else in the chart. It sounds like Beautiful People, Judas, Tik Tok, etc. It's very commercial. Maybe 5 years ago I'm Into You might've been the more commercial of the two.

Papi is overrated anyway - I'd rather have Hypnotico or Invading My Mind as the next single tbh. But Papi will do better - surefire top 10, likely to be top 5.

It's just so generic and boring imo (except for like the first 20 seconds). :( I'm sure J-Lo has better songs on her album to release. But it'd do really well, judging by how well similar songs like Dynamite, Alejandro and Sweat did.

Enrique Iglesias' highly anticipated (:kink:) new music video for 'Dirty Dancer' premiered today!

Seems quite high-budget.

Regarding 'Papi', I might be the only one on this forum who thinks that it will miss the top 10 but that doesn't stop me believing it. And, Eric, IIY is extremely commercial. It is afterall a WMN? clone. :P

EDIT: It's just dawned on me that the DD video looks so much like Nero's 'Guilt' video.

I wouldn't have said What's My Name? was that commercial either. At least not compared to Only Girl and S&M! What's My Name? was very lucky imo, due to all the media controversy at the time. I think it helped its sales.

That Dirty Dancer video is wow! :o That's another song that sound the same as Papi btw. Dirty Dancer also sounds like More by Usher and the new JLS song.

In Regina's defence, I also think IIY has done far better than I expected. The fact it utterly bombed in the USA (despite it having Lil Wayne on it and OTF being massive) and still hasn't recovered didn't exactly indicate the song would spend 3 weeks top 10 here :P

I don't think Papi will go top 10 but if it gets enough exposure (like IIY getting put straight on R1's B-List) it might do.

I wasn't expecting IIY to go T10, especially as it had Lil Wayne on it. I haven't heard Papi, but if I'm right about it being electropop and sounding more like her 1st single, I think it could be another T10 hit - peaking higher than IIY but missing T5
