She looks the part; Sam Mitchell without the rotting nose.

This evening's episode was suitably mournful. Highlight of course being DAME LAILA MORSE's thespian masterclass, snivelling on the sofa with all the believability of Ben Mitchell pretending to be a heterosexual. A fitting tribute to Dame Pamela.

I thought Mo's performance was RATHER moving! It's nice to see Mo being something other than some sort of lame panto villain.

As Shoat said, a suitably mournful episode. Janine remains my favourite - she's just as good at the emotional, heartbreaking stuff as she is at the catty remarks and bitchiness and she's bringing it in the wake of Pat's death. (Is there a picture of Pat on her desk yet? She has Lydia and Frank!) Carol's little moment was also lovely.

I like the new Lucy.

Anyhow, the Pat Tribute show after Eastenders was actually pretty good.

I know he was a villain and everything, but I find it strange that we never saw an actual funeral for Yusef. I'm sure past villains in soap have received one - John Stape in Coronation Street, for example!

Evil soap characters don't usually get full-blown funerals. Plus he did get a wake at the Masoods' so I think we're to assume he got a fast burial.

Excellent performance from Pam St Clement, deep down I wish they didn't kill her off, she could have just pack her bags and gone to New Zealand for good to be with Simon. In the end it was very sad to see her go, as I remember the first time she strode into Albert Square, by been very bossy towards Pauline Fowler.

I have massive admiration for Pam St Clement - to decide to leave a show with no option of coming back (unless they do a Dallas Dream Theme!) I hate those people who leave 'but the door is always open' for them to come back should they flop in anything else they do (I'm not citing just EE in this - other soaps are guilty too - EE does seem to have the biggest share of 'returnees' though).

Having said that - I'm so glad Michael French is back (even for a short while) he's far and away the best actor in EE at the moment.

Ha! You can never just give due praise and then leave can you Kath? God bless.

Nope! The rest of it was pure pants.

I AM glad Michael French is back though - I'll be watching as much as I can now that he's in it!

Sounds like a really lovely touch. The aftermath to Pat's death has been so well handled (although Carol and David getting jiggy in Pat's old bed seems a BIT DODGY).

Derek is irritating me now-not so much him but the fact that other characters seem to just do what he tells them all the time. You'd expect Max to have a bit of backbone after the things Derek said to Tanya.
If tonight wasn't bad enough, it appears that

Ben kills Heather

.

I do hope you're having a laugh.
I find Ben utterly useless and pathetic and I dislike how much they're using him lately. I've resented him ever since his return meant killing Queen Kathy off-screen.
I wanted Phil to actually kick the crap out of ben on Eastenders tonight? I hope I wasn't the only one!
I was cheering Ben on. He's a brilliant nutjob whereas Phil is just a vile scrotum.

Ben was AMAZING (and who'd have thought anybody would ever be saying that?). Despite the lack of a REALLY convincing motive, he was so completely OTT and ridiculous that it actually added to whole psycho thing he's got going on. I still can't help but feel cheated that we were never gifted with the Charlie "You Need Slappin' Dahn!" Jones interpretation of that scene. It would no doubt truly have been the ZENITH moment of television.

I also LOVE DCI Marsden. I will be disappointed when Phil inevitably gets off and the storyline ends, for it will mean another 4 year hiatus for the saintly woman.

The best part of the ending was when Ben handed him the black envelope and said "Happy Birthday Dad" with that big grin on his face. Just loved it.
Im struggling with the new Lucy,. not taking to her at all, on saying that i was never a fan of the lucy charactor at any stage...i will give the new lucy time though as i didnt like the new lauren at first either but really like her now.
