"Active Child has announced the release of his debut album You Are All I See on August 22nd (UK), as a follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed Curtis Lane EP. One of the tracks, “Playing House,” is a collaboration with lo-fi r&b singer How To Dress Well and recently premiered on Pitchfork. The Fader praised the song highly, noting “The cascading piano line that introduces this duet is too perfect, spiraling like an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ techno-trip into fantasy R&B. Pairing bedroom falsetto connoisseurs Active Child and How to Dress Well, ‘Playing House’ rivals heights of collaborative Auto-warble last seen in Kanye‘s weird work with Bon Iver. The boys always threaten to take homage over-the-top, but ‘Playing House’ is undeniable magic.” Active Child is the musical project from choirboy-turned-indie-pop musician Pat Grossi. His debut collection of songs featured the use of various ’80s-tinged synths to create ethereal soundscapes, punctuated by crisp electronic drum samples and handclaps. All of this lays the groundwork for Grossi’s exquisite vocals, which, with their unearthly sound and evocative lyrics, take on an enchanting, hymnal quality.” (Via Vagrant)

Definitely one of my most anticipated records of the year, the 'Curtis Lane' EP was absolutely ingenious. Initially I was somewhat wary about Active Child ditching his harp for a drum machine but the results are brilliant, throw in that collaboration with How to Dress Well and the entire song is gorgeous. I'm addicted.

New artwork (I'll be using the other):

Aaah can't wait for this. Loved the Curtis Lane EP (especially 'When Your Love is Safe') and this new song sounds just as good. Plus the artwork is glorious.
Cannot wait. Playing House is tune of the month.

I'M DYING I WANT THIS IN MY EARS.
Illuminati triangles? I kid... but it reminds me of what happened to Beyonce in one of her performances, sad conclusions people draw from harmless situations.
Wot? No "I'm In Your Church At Night"? :(

Oh well, looking forward to it nonetheless.

That was on his Curtis Lane EP which came out last year ~ ~ ~

Has it leaked, Ryan?? :o Because I can't find it apart from 'Way Too Fast'.

OMG. Beautiful.

The 4 closing tracks are incredible. Not too crazy about Ivy yet though, but with the quality of the rest I think I will managed to forget about this one minor flaw.

Can't believe that new cover. Boo. I was so looking forward to buying it but with that new cover I'm not sure I will. The original cover art is perfect, I'll definitely be using that one.

As for the album, wonderful!

Definitely a contender for album of the year so far.

Never heard of these/him? until Ryan just posted Hanging On on twitter but my god what a song! Desperately looking for more stuff now
