I'm pretty sure this idea has been done before, but not recently. What I've done is combined the sales and airplay charts to make a Billboard-type chart. A number one would have 40 points, number two 39 points etc. for both charts, so a song can have maximum 80 points if tops both the sales and airplay chart. Ties are broken by what song has sold more.

These are the number ones:

Sales - Jason Derulo 'Don't Wanna Go Home'

Airplay - Aloe Blacc 'I Need A Dollar'

And this is the Billboard-type chart:

1. Example ‘Changed The Way You Kiss Me’

2. Alexandra Stan ‘Mr. Saxobeat’

3. Aloe Blacc ‘I Need A Dollar’

4. Pitbull feat. Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer ‘Give Me Everything’

5. Calvin Harris feat. Kelis ‘Bounce’

6. Bruno Mars ‘The Lazy Song’

7. Lady GaGa ‘The Edge Of Glory’

8. Rihanna ‘California King Bed’

9. Nicole Scherzinger feat. 50 Cent ‘Right There’

10. LMFAO feat. Lauren Bennet & GoonRock ‘Party Rock Anthem’

11. Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull ‘On The Floor’

12. Jason Derulo ‘Don’t Wanna Go Home’

13. Katy Perry ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)’

14. ADELE ‘Set Fire To The Rain’

15. Jennifer Lopez feat. Lil Wayne ‘I’m Into You’

16. Jessie J ‘Nobody’s Perfect’

17. Ed Sheeran ‘The A Team’

18. Vato Gonzales feat. Foreign Beggars ‘Badman Riddim’

19. Chris Brown feat. Benny Benassi ‘Beautiful People’

20. Coldplay ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’

21. David Guetta feat. Flo Rida & Nicki Minaj ‘Where Them Girls At’

22. ADELE ‘Someone Like You’

23. Tinchy Stryder & Dappy ‘Spaceship’

24. Jessie J feat. B.o.B ‘Price Tag’

27. The Wanted ‘Glad You Came’

28. The Saturdays ‘Notorious’

29. The Black Eyed Peas ‘Don’t Stop The Party’

30. Dev feat. The Cataracs ‘Bass Down Low’

31. ADELE ‘Rolling In The Deep’

33. Snoop Dogg vs. David Guetta ‘Sweat’

I don't think that you should include songs that are not released yet. (e.g. Dionne Bromfield, JLS, and a few more)

But other than that, it's a nice idea. Does look very Billboard. ^_^

It's only fair that unreleased songs with good airplay can chart - just as songs with good sales but not much airplay can chart too. I get your point, but I'll keep it this way unless more people think unreleased songs shouldn't be there. :)

Agree, it would be better if it was only the songs that have actually been released.

I think its a good idea though, and if this is a weekly feature, I will most certainly be intrested to follow it.

If it creates enough interest, yes, it will be weekly a bit like my gender charts :)

And this is the chart with songs unavailable on iTunes taken out - it doesn't look much different but here it is. Mike Posner is still T40 this way :o

On the real Billboard chart unreleased songs can chart from airplay alone. Obviously, it's just a lot rarer since they do nearly everything on air, on sale (and if not, it's usually just one or two weeks of airplay before they release it).

Wouldn't it be better to do the top 50 for each chart? Since it's available to everyone and makes the list more accurate. (You could go down even further but only the airplay top 50 is public domain I think)

I'm assuming you mean the T50s for the unavailable songs in and unavailable songs out. And I'm not going down further because 50 is a nice number, and yes there are 50 positions available for airplay but I only use the sales and airplay top 40s. I could do both charts, and the Ytd chart every month or when I feel like posting one.

Mike Posner, Taio Cruz and Adele [RITD] still in the top 50 - no thanks.

Nice idea though, interesting to see Aloe Blacc would've spent a few more weeks in the top 5 and Derulo wouldn't have cracked the top 10 - although I imagine the chart from this week would have him in the top 5.

No, I mean why don't you just use the top 50s for each chart anyway? It'd make it more accurate.

RITD is still top 50 in the real chart...

I see what you mean - use the UK top 50 and the Airplay Top 50, and give 50 points to number one etc. to make up the Billboard-type top 50 :)

Why is Adele repeatedly spelt with all capitals?

Because that's how it's spelt on iTunes, and I've grown into the habbit of putting ADELE in all caps like them

Sales - DJ Fresh feat. Sian Evans 'Louder'

Airplay - Coldplay 'Every Teardop Is A Waterfall'

And this is the Billboard-type chart:

It was a very close battle this week as only one point separates numbers one and two, but Example came out on top for a third week with 90 points, 47 scored from sales and 43 from airplay. DJ Fresh and Loick Essien, the official top 2 would be numbers 9 and 16 respectively if airplay was included in the UK chart.
