Prompted by Adele's imminent membership of this exclusive club, is there a defintive list of million sellers in the forum somewhere?

I assume you mean JTWYA? Grenade won't go near 1m, he's still 225k-ish off the mark and is currently all the way down to #67.

 

I also think PT will pass a million this year as XF will almost certainly rape it. PRA has a chance too, it has under 240k to go, which equates to around 9.2k/week for the rest of the year. I think it could manage that as it'll be above that for a while still and it will probably be used quite a bit on XF as well.

I'm sure Eminem is over 900,000 now. He was like 850,000 last year alone, and was still top 40 at the beginning of this year.

 

LTWYL's sales have dropped a lot though. It was nearly always between #90 and #100 on iTunes for the first few months of this year, until it got made 59p, went back in the top 40 on iTunes, and now it's dropped all the way down to like #130 or something, which is the lowest it's been in 12 months!

I'm sure Eminem is over 900,000 now. He was like 850,000 last year alone, and was still top 40 at the beginning of this year.

LMFAO making 1 million would be one of the highlights of the year for me in music :wub: I think it can happen, let's hope some guys take after Cher Lloyd and do PRA as their audition song :dance:

Adele has become the first UK artist to sell 1m downloads of a song domestically with Someone Like You.

 

The former UK number one single passed the 1m mark today (Tuesday), 162 days after release.

 

In doing so it becomes the first single released this decade to sell 1m copies – two tracks from 2009, Lady GaGa’s Poker Face and Black Eyed Peas’ I Gotta Feeling, were the last to pass the milestone.

 

In total 16 singles released since 2000 have reached the million sales mark (see table below) according to the Official Charts Company - and only eight in the past five years.

 

These include a number of singles from British artists, including Will Young, Gareth Gates and Alexandra Burke.

 

But many of these were released on multiple formats – several were from X Factor winners which traditionally sold well on CD single - while Someone Like You was only available as a download.

 

Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot said breaking the 1m mark was “another huge achievement, in a year of huge achievements for Adele and her label XL Recordings”.

 

“It is a real coming of age for the digital market,” he added.

 

Earlier this year Adele became the first artist to sell more than 500,000 digital albums in the UK with her second album 21.
