July 7, 201114 yr How did both Coldplay B-Sides make the Hot 100? LMFAO are the first duo to go to #1 since OutKast in 2003/4! (They were the first duo since Yolanda Be Cool to go to #1 in the UK, a much less impressive lenght of time) Edited July 7, 201114 yr by Bré
July 7, 201114 yr ** 98 Big Sean featuring Wiz Khalifa - High (NEW) :o Didn't know this got that much cherrypicking! Why isn't Chiddy Bang credited? :(
July 7, 201114 yr Horrible number 1 :puke: At least Adele had 7 weeks! Loving Queen B's climb as well!
July 7, 201114 yr Great to see Hot Chelle Rae making the top 10, loving that song recently :D Hope it can have the same success in the UK if given a push here.
July 7, 201114 yr How did both Coldplay B-Sides make the Hot 100? LMFAO are the first duo to go to #1 since OutKast in 2003/4! (They were the first duo since Yolanda Be Cool to go to #1 in the UK, a much less impressive lenght of time) It's a song chart so if people downloaded those separately, they can chart.. It's very rare though and they'll be gone next week. And yea they're the first duo since Outkast but what's interesting is that they are actually an uncle and a nephew as Stefan Gordy is the youngest son of Berry Gordy and Skylar Gordy is Berry's grandson.
July 7, 201114 yr It's a song chart so if people downloaded those separately, they can chart.. It's very rare though and they'll be gone next week. I'm aware of that. It's just that I never saw them go particularly high on iTunes and I assume they have 0 airplay so I'm very surprised they've managed to make the Hot 100!
July 7, 201114 yr So... is Party Rock Anthem the first dance song to top the Hot 100 since 1991? I know it's difficult to determine what constitutes a dance song, particularly because Eurodance influences pop so much (Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, even Madonna's Music from 2000). But LMFAO is generally considered a dance act, right? I just went back through the list of #1s and couldn't find any artist since C&C Music Factory in 1991 that I would consider a dance act. Then again I didn't look that closely  Discuss.
July 7, 201114 yr ^ I'm sure there must've been something else since 1991! :o Although nothing springs to mind atm. About the genre of Party Rock Anthem. I'd say it's dance for sure, but it's also pop, and even rap. But even if it's not a proper dance song, it's probably still one of the "most" dance songs (if that makes sense) that they've had at #1 in who knows how long, so it's still quite a big thing. Maybe the US is ready for Tinie to release Miami 2 Ibiza now. :kink:
July 8, 201114 yr 03 01 LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett & GoonRock - Party Rock Anthem 01 02 Pitbull featuring Ne-Yo, AfroJack & Nayer - Give Me Everything Lauren Bennett is british, she should be in purple.... Another British lady at number 1 in the US :yahoo: Edited July 8, 201114 yr by Big Mistake
July 8, 201114 yr :cheer: :yahoo:  :woot: LMFAO at number one!!!!!!! It's taken a long time, but we can now say dance has crossed over to the US. Hip hop is (sadly) dead but we've got something even better (imo) to take over - club beats, party hooks and rapping
July 8, 201114 yr Gosh. Hip hop isn't "dead". That's a bit dramatic. Although it less popular, and mixed with other genres more than before. But there's still songs like Black and Yellow getting to #1. Rock is the genre suffering most atm, I think, although it's been like that for over a year now. Also, by my count, Lady Gaga has one song in the top 100, and Christina Aguilera has two! :o It's official guys. Christina Aguilera is bigger than Lady Gaga! Things are back to normal now. Edited July 8, 201114 yr by Eric_Blob
July 9, 201114 yr Just saying, if Lauren Bennett and Taio Cruz get specifically purpled, shouldn't Eric Turner be specifically un-purpled as he's American?

July 9, 201114 yr http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lipxh0Sa1w1qiu3nbo1_500.png  Point taken. :D Although I don't think that album of remixes that Lady Gaga released did too well. :coffee:
July 9, 201114 yr At least Christina probably has good grammar. Shouldn't it be 'have flopped'? [/bray]
July 9, 201114 yr ^ I don't know about Christina's grammar. Rumour has it that she can't spell "dirty" correctly.
July 9, 201114 yr ^ I don't know about Christina's grammar. Rumour has it that she can't spell "dirty" correctly. Spelling is not the same thing as grammar. You can be completely grammatically correct and still be $h!t at spelling. -x- Anyway, I just noticed Afrojack & Eva S are climbing :o Thought it'd have its one solitary week on the H100 before disappearing! Is it actually getting airplay or are its download sales outside of iTunes just really good? It's only #133 on iTunes  Edited July 9, 201114 yr by Bré
July 9, 201114 yr At least Christina probably has good grammar. Shouldn't it be 'have flopped'? [/bray] Both singular and plural treatments of "none" are acceptable, so "none has" and "none have" are both grammatically correct. I agree that "none has" sounds a bit weird, but if you consider none to be the same as "not one" then it makes sense :)
