Later today, someone should post a poll on this forum predicting who will win the September 4th chart battle. :kink:

It'll be Diva Day all over again. :kink:

I predict it will go (obviously based on what I've heard of Leona's song):

#1: Leona Lewis - Collide

#2: Pixie Lott - All About Tonight

#5: Sugababes - Freedom

I completely agree with this, I would predict exactly the same positions for the songs. Its going to be intresting to see 3 big female comebacks in the one week.

What is it with the need for Leona to engage in big bitch-off battles with other big females? :o

Back in 2008 there was that big battle with P!nk, Britney and Beyonce (I think that were the 3 of them), if not also the Sugababes then as well! :o

And that was with the stupid decision to release Forgive Me on a Monday. :(

And the album battle with The Spice Girls in 2007 (which turned out to be hugely one-sided!)

And of course there was the HUGE battle with Rule The World and Bleeding Love in 2007 - repeated again in 2008 with the release of Run and Greatest Day. And then Happy vs. Meet Me Halfway.

Arrrgh Leona!

Well... the Sugababes are defintely out of the equation they are so yesterday, I don't think their new single will trouble the top 10 imo.

It probably be more of a battle between Pixie more than anything, but with 7 weeks before Leona actually releases the single she is bound to bring it out a week or 2 early. So far I can't see a battle for the #1 yet on that week, its so early to call it.

And there is no need for a topic for a Sept 4th battle, release dates could change.

Looking in to where the three of them are on the promo schedules (including video, studio version premiere etc.) it would make sense for Pixie to bring here's forward to the 22nd or 29th August, Leona to stay on Sept 4, and Sugababes put theirs back to Sept 11 or 18 :)

But I want to hear Freedom studio version ASAP!

^ I don't even mind the differences in opinion that much tbh (since I like songs such as My Humps, Beep, Ayo Technology, Heartbroken, Game Over, etc. I do have to get used to people mocking my music tastes ).

It's just the overratedness. They way people were obsessed with her in 2009. I've never seen anything so ridiculous in my life. People were calling her "Queen of pop" BEFORE Just Dance had even charted in the UK. Queen of pop before you've released your first single!? Seriously? I mean, come on people! I know they got popular in other countries the year before, but that just seemed so ridiculous to me. Then I heard the song (Just Dance or Poker Face) and it was so terrible.

It's probably how some people felt disappointed when they heard Born This Way due to how much hype it got, that it didn't live up to their expectations. Except that's what I had with Just Dance/Poker Face. It might've been different if I had listened to them early 2008 before all the hype.

I really liked the first era, although I feel there is a massive slip in quality for the 2nd one. That fan just annoyed me I suppose.

Arrrgh Leona!

It was (in order of highest charting that week):

Beyonce - If I Were A Boy #2

Britney Spears - Womanizer #4

Leona Lewis - Forgive Me #5

Alesha Dixon - The Boy Does Nothing #8 (wasn't officially part of Diva Day)

Christina Aguilera - Keeps Gettin' Better #14

The bookies even ran bets on who would win!

Yep!

And wasn't it P!nk holding @ #1 for a second week, completing a female dominated top 5/10?

2 hours until 'Collide' premieres!!! :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

Pink's 'So What' was released in late September so it couldn't have been her.

It was 'Hero' by The X Factor Finalists. :)

You're right - it was XFF.

Why did I think it was P!nk? Although she was still @ #10; and Girls Aloud were #3 and Katy Perry #7.

So that made 7 female tracks, one primarily female ensemble (XFF), one female/male duet and 1 male solo track in the top 10. What a load of females! :phew:

The top 10 went that week:

01. The X Factor Finalists - Hero

02. Beyonce - If I Were A Boy

03. Girls Aloud - The Promise

04. Britney Spears - Womanizer

That top 10 was absolutely brilliant - although I can't remember the #6 track.

'Hero' was actually a pretty decent track, and far better than the follow-up charity singles, but that might be down to my crazy Alexandra stanning around the time. :smoke:

'If I Were A Boy' completely deserved to win the Diva Day battle. It was the best song out of the 5 imo. 'The Promise' and 'Womanizer' were probably one of the best tracks from GA and Britney respectively. 'Forgive Me' was obviously great, more the video than the song itself although the tour version is exceptional. 'Hot N Cold' is a good pop record despite me not being crazy on Katy Perry at the time. 'The Boy Does Nothing' was really infectious and 'Die Another Day' and 'So What' were great!

I miss late 2008 - mainly due to the best XF ever and the great music. :( Early 2009 was pretty decent too. I have to say though, 2010/2011 have been great years (despite some of the biggest $h!t ever being released -_-).

They should be playing Leona Lewis soon - I'm actually looking forward to it. Hopefully Leona can pull this Ibiza sound off - she could either mess it up real bad or make a perfect dance/pop song.

Right now they're playing Akon 'Beautiful'. -_-

It's on after Pendulum!!!!!!!! :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

 13. Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall - Coldplay

 14. Little Bad Girl (feat. Taio Cruz & Ludacris) -David Guetta

:w00t:

 21. Pumped Up Kicks - Foster the People

Back up to its iTunes peak (unless it went top 20 before 8pm on one day and dropped out again) :D Should hopefully re-peak officially this week!

 29. Down With the Trumpets - Rizzle Kicks

Really don't get how this is doing so well, it's very average IMO. Then again How We Roll got all the way to #2... maybe average UK urban is a new thing in the chart? (Cue vidcapper)

 33. Till I'm Gone (feat. Wiz Khalifa) - Tinie Tempah & Wiz Khalifa

Could just sneak into the top 40 this week (maybe Tinie's 5th song to be #40 at some point in 2011 (and third song to enter there) :kink:)?, if not it'll definitely be there next week. :D

 34. Champagne Showers (feat. Natalia Kills) - LMFAO

Looks like this'll definitely go top 40 this week then :( I was enjoying how it kept just missing out

 40. Jar of Hearts - Christina Perri

 Hope this can become a big hit

 50. Fix You - Coldplay

Definitely no top 40 for this then :( Especially as it's down to #40 in the mids

 51. Hitz - Chase & Status & Tinie Tempah

Climbing again :D But go top 40 already

 66. Hawaiian Air - Friendly Fires

I half-expected this to immediately turn tail and start plummetting again, but it looks like it could actually have some lomgevity! Hope it can somehow get them a second top 40 hit :D

 68. I'm On One (feat. Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne) - DJ Khaled

Should go top 100 this week then after just missing out last week (well, it was #110)

Pendulem "Watercolour" :yahoo:  This song really helped drum and bass get noticed last year, I was amazed this could get to number 4. The follow up sadly flopped :( I loved that too
