I can't see AAT or Freedom challenging for number 1 anyway actually, so we have nothing to worry about really :P

As much as I like 'Collide', I have to say that 'All About Tonight' definetly goes more places that 'Collide'.

All About Tonight (9/10) >>>>>> Collide (8/10) >>>> Freedom (7/10 so far)

It's getting annoying the lack of British releases using OA/OS. It would be nice if radio/tv didn't promote them until release in protest.

No its not, OA/OS has turned out to be an awful idea, and has made every song that was released as part of it flop horribly, bar 'Price Tag'. The more artists stay away from it, the better as far as I'm concerned.

I agree, look at The Saturdays.

It hasn't been awful at all. There have been plenty of successes from it. It's only not worked because record labels have no idea how to use it as a strategy. It works in America and has worked here for American artists just fine, but the Brits just don't seem to be able to get it right, but even then the likes of Noah & The Whale have had far greater success with it than they otherwise would've.

It's just so odd that the Americans (and Europeans) can get it so right, and the Brits can constantly get it so wrong!

Who are now much higher up the chart than any of their previous lead singles have been at the same stage because OA/OS has done what it's supposed to do, give it more longevity instead of a higher peak and a sharp drop.

I don't think they would do that. Holding songs back is really the only way we'll ever get lots of British #1s. They all seem to struggle to get to #1 if on air, on sale. The only one that's managed #1 that way is Someone Like You (and all the X Factor and charity songs). Even Price Tag, was actually held back a few months. The OCC, I think it was, said Radio 1Xtra and Capital FM were playing Price Tag way back in 2010.

Why do people bring up America? American charts are so different from here and America is SO much bigger, the two countires cannot be compared.

I, personally, dont like 0A/0S i prefer 3-4 weeks of radio and 1/2 weeks of TV thats perfect for me.

Okay Example, stop falling now. :(

(Top 100 update coming)

Of the top 20 singles of the year so far....

5 OA/OS (LMFAO, Pitbull, Gaga, Snoop, CB-Y3)

7 post album release singles (so the same principle as OA/OS) (Adele-SLY, Rihanna, Bruno-TLS, CB-BP, Aloe, Katy/Kanye, BEPs)

1 from 2010 (Jessie-DILAD)

4 that crossed over from before OA/OS started (Jessie-PT, Bruno-G, Adele-RITD, Chipmunk)

3 held back singles (JLO, Nicole, Example)

Who are now much higher up the chart than any of their previous lead singles have been at the same stage because OA/OS has done what it's supposed to do, give it more longevity instead of a higher peak and a sharp drop.

Before it was reduced to 59p, it was plummeting like a rock.

So you prefer waiting 4-6 weeks before you can buy the songs you love? Why? I personally can't see the logic, I'd much rather be able to hear a song and buy it! Not have to wait another 6 weeks by which time I'm most likely to A) have gone off it and don't want to or B-) obtained an 'illegal' copy which I don't replace.

Only because they desperately had to drop the price by almost half to stop it being out of the top 100 by now, and also, sales are more important and if it was held back, then the sales would have been bigger, as they have missed the weeks in which they do best and get the highest sales because of OA/OS. Even if 'Nortorious' was out of the top 40 by now if held back, the sales would have been undoubtably bigger, it would have had bigger airplay and they would be making more money out of it as they wouldn't have to nearly half the price.

No i mean 4 weeks in total, first 2 weeks radio and then the video and then 2 weeks then made available. :) I think that gives a song enough time to go round Radio/TV and get the right exposure before being released.
