I will see if the Justin Bieber song is good, I judge on the song and not the character :D

EDIT: It's not actually that bad...

Agreed, I'm ready for the hail of criticism but it's actually not bad at all. He does sound shockingly like Colbie Caillat, though.

Ugh. Well, at least he didn't knock Adele off #1 since she'd already been knocked off first by Snoop and then by LMFAO.

From the look of those pop bars, I think We Found Love could finally get to #1 on US iTunes fairly soon. I still wonder how it stalled at #2 in the first place. I'm sure it'll give Rihanna yet another Hot 100 #1 (which would be, what, her 11th? She could be challenging The Beatles for the most #1s eventually :o)

^ I think We Found Love didn't get to #1 because Rihanna isn't that popular, and the song isn't as US friendly as something such as What's My Name?, for example.
My K-Pop girls are at #391 with The Boys :cheer:
That's great for them :cheer:

What do you mean she's 'not that popular'? Did you miss her getting her TENTH Hot 100 #1 earlier this year? Did you miss her breaking the solo record for quickest time to 20 Hot 100 top 10 hits just a couple of weeks ago?

WFL failed a bit by not getting to #1 AFAIC, although it's holding up well now (back up to #4 overtaking Adele, with Drake at #3 and LMFAO still #2, Bieber #1 with a massive lead unfortunately -_-) so it could make up for the poorer-than-expected start and get to H100 #1 in a few weeks' time like Only Girl (In The World) did - although that DID get to #1 on iTunes as soon as it was released.

In America Rihanna isn't really that huge. She's got good single sales but she's not got the hugest stanbase ever and for a song that is vaguely left of centre in the US market it's not surprising to see it didn't ever quite manage to hit the top spot. I think it's hard to imagine Rihanna not being that big when you're from the UK but her album sales have never been spectacular in the US.
Rihanna has a great chart history in the US, yes, but I think it's just because she's constantly releasing catchy songs. I don't think many people are fans of her, as an artist, like people are with Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, etc. They're just fans of some of her songs. You tend to find a lot of people like half of Rihanna's songs, and hate the other half, whilst with Lady Gaga, most of her fans love 95% of her songs.
She's not quite as big in the US as she is in the UK (and she's also not as big at least fanbase-wise as the likes of Gaga and Taylor like you say) but I'd still describe her as being "that big".

Eric got to massively disagree with you there, Rihanna is one of if not the biggest artist of the moment. (Adele being the obv one) She has millions of hardcore fans, and even those who arent 'hardcore' like her. She's already put herself in music history even if she stopped making music. Think how young she is, and she's not only a great artist, a great businesswoman, she's going to be around for a very very long time. Definitely one of the biggest selling/most influential female artists of all time.

WFL will be #1, especially with video out tonight.

You sound like a crazy stan there. In the UK Rihanna is probably the biggest star. Worldwide, she probably is. In the US (which is what we're discussing) she's surpassed by both GaGa and Katy Perry. And how exactly has she been influential? The only song of hers that I think has been the slightest bit influential is Don't Stop The Music and it's very difficult to prove whether that actually had any impact on the future electropop craze.

I wouldn't say she's 'influential' but to be fair very few artists are influential. You can be massive without being a trendsetter which is what I would describe Rihanna as.

I know I read back and definitely stan there :heehee: I just genuinely think she's huge, and has put her stamp on the music history books. How can you undermine her success in US though? All those #1s, incredible!..and the list is just going to grow & grow.

Perry & Gaga are clearly huge in US, but Rihanna is up there with them without a doubt.

I agree. I'd have to say the same thing about Katy Perry as well.

Well she did trick a generation of girls in the UK that red hair can be pulled off by everyone.

Britney up to #106

Up about 50 spots in the past 24 hours! Hopefully it can hit the top 40 this week, and continue to rise as airplay increases.
