Katy Perry's currently winning airplay...

03. Lmfao - Party Rock Anthem 65.9%

07. Katy Perry - Last Friday Night 51.9%

27. Katy Perry & Missy Elliot - Last Friday Night 22.1% = 74% Combined. Number one is very likely for Katy this week.

I think releasing a random duet these days is the only way artists do in order to hope to get a billboard number one, Rihanna with S&M was random as hell.

I'll be waiting for a Lady Gaga one soon just to join in the pop star collaborations

Katy should get #1 then :o :D

To people who understand Billboard's date system - if she does get #1 would it be more likely to happen tomorrow or next week?

Edited by Bré

The chart tomorrow won't include any sales from Monday, Tuesday or today, so that could make next week more likely if the remix keeps climbing.

I see. Hopefully the remix won't plummet then because it'd be really annoying if LFN(T.G.I.F.) got to #1 on both sales and airplay but was screwed out of being a 'real' #1 because they peaked at different times...

Adele top 300 update:

16. Rolling In the Deep - ADELE

42. Someone Like You - ADELE

72. Set Fire to the Rain - ADELE

93. Rumour Has It - ADELE

234. Turning Tables - ADELE

287. Make You Feel My Love - ADELE

Someone Like You climbing nicely :D Hopefully should be another big US hit for her. Rolling In The Deep is starting to fall a bit now, but it's still doing really well, it wasn't exactly going to stay top 10 forever. Pleasing to see Set Fire To The Rain and Rumour Has It both holding up in the top 100 and Turning Tables still hanging around in the top 300. I wonder why Make You Feel My Love is selling so well though? Is it being used to soundtrack stuff in the US as much as it is here? :o

Who Gon Stop Me at #13!!!!!!! :o :o

Wow. That's incredible! :o They should release it as the next single instead of Lift Off imo.

 3. Pumped Up Kicks - Foster the People

 4. Party Rock Anthem (feat. Lauren Bennett & GoonRock) - LMFAO

:cheer: :yahoo: :w00t:

I think Pumped Up Kicks could get to #2 soon as Drake isn't likely to hold up that well. Can't believe how amazingly it's doing now :D It's certainly taken its time though. Hopefully it'll eventually go top 10 in the UK...

Hot 100:

#1 LMFAO (185,000 - 146.7million AI)

#2 Katy (136,000 - 146.9million AI)

#3 Nicki

#4 Pitbull

#5 Bad Meets Evil (78million AI)

#6 Lil Wayne

#7 Britney

#8 Maroon 5 (158,000)

#9 Adele

#10 Hot Chelle Rae

Not that close then, the remix needs to make up the sales for next week which I reckon it could potentially.

I guess it'll be between Katy, LMFAO and Maroon 5 for next week then. Although not sure about the latter, due to airplay, but Katy and LMFAO have started decreasing in airplay now.

Opposite of Adults by Chiddy Bang in the top 100! :o Didn't this famously flop when it was released originally?

What I'm curious about is whether it'll chart as the album/single version credited to Ellie, as the Bassnectar remix credited to Bassnectar feat. Ellie, or as the remix credited to only Ellie as it appears on iTunes.

This is its position:

85. Lights - Ellie Goulding

It did end up charting on the BBH100 this week, but with no Bassnectar credit to be seen. :( Oh well, at least Ellie gets an entry!

At least congratz to Ellie for a Billboard entry :)
As much as I love Katy, I really don't want to see her match Michael Jackson's record. Someone incredibly worthy needs to and I don't know if Katy is.

It also borders on feeling like cheating to get the record.

Yeah. Two features to get there. :(

I love Katy but their two albums can't even be compared. Not because Katy's album is weak, but because MJ's album is so strong!

I love Katy but I do agree it's slightly like cheating, adding a rapper to get a number 1. Though Rihanna did the same with S&M (well she added a singer, not a rapper) and Britney boosted TTWE with the remix (though it didn't get number 1).
And the thing is.... these remixes are so frontloaded and usually die down after 2-3 weeks after release and cause the song's original version to freefall
Honestly though, I do enjoy Katy's music close to the same amount as I enjoy MJ's music. I'd like to see her beat it (no pun intended) because she's truly the hottest thing out there right now, and 5 #1s, features or no features, show that. Besides, how many people are buying the TGIF remix off of Missy Elliott's name? It's all about Katy.
There's nothing wrong with remixes imo. Urban artists have been doing it for decades, and nobody has complained, but once pop artists do it everybody whines about it. It's not cheating or anything. I can't think of many artists that haven't released remixes. All the #1s so far this year have had remixes, whether it be a "G-mix", an acoustic version, a Country Road version, a Britney Spears remix, and so on.
