Weird that Jessie J's Domino is at #61 at the moment....

Gaga has started to decrease and is down to #4 -_- ...

Should we know who Lil Wayne is - never heard of him/her

Well I'm guessing you're from the UK (the flag by your name) - maybe not because he's not that big over here tbh, he's HUGE in the US though.

Wow. Is there a new Flo Rida song out? I haven't listened to it yet, but it's made much less of an impression that Right Round did on it's release!! :o

The reaction of America to Flo Rida nowadays. -_-

What? Do people not like him anymore? Low was the biggest song of 2008, and Right Round still holds the record for the highest first-week digital sales I believe.

This is a rather drastic decrease in popularity in a short space of time.

16 different songs in the iTunes T100 - 19 in total (including the Kelly Rowland collaboration). I'm impressed.

The only tracks yet to creep into the T100 from the album are: Track 1 (Intro), Track 10 (Abortion) and Track 19 (Up Up and Away).

(S) = Single Version.

Elsewhere:

61. Jessie J 'Domino'

You missed out a couple of other songs Lil Wayne is featured on that are still in the top 100 - I'm On One and Look At Me Now to be precise.

Flo Rida's career does seem to have pretty much gone to shit in a very short amount of time. Not only in the US but also here (he hasn't had a top 40 hit since Club Can't Handle Me (Where Them Girls At aside))

Wasn't there one of his music videos which people thought was degrading to women or something? Perhaps it's because of that.
No, people just got bored of him and that's about it. He was always a singles artist and when his singles stopped smashing his album sales becamse absolutely horrid. It's a good thing to me. The less singles artists who can't shift albums (neither of his even sold a million!) around, the better.

Yeah, Club Can't Handle Me peaked at #9, Who Dat Girl peaked at #29, and Turn Around (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) peaked at a smashing #98. For whatever reason, maybe it was because the album was only 9 SONGS LONG, Only 1 Flo Pt. 1 managed #107 on the top 200, which is a whole 99 places lower than R.O.O.T.S.

I personally think that the main contributor was the strange and frankly stupid decision to split the album in 2, combined with a strange iTunes promotion tactic (release CCHM and 3 promo singles that WEREN'T ON THE ALBUM) that sunk that era for him. Unfortunately, it looks like this new era is going to be even worse. I remember when Right Round hadn't even come out yet it was unavoidable on radio. This time around, I had no idea he even had a new single until I saw it in the upper 40s on iTunes.

It's a real shame he's flopping this badly. I quite liked Turn Around (5, 4, 3, 2, 1)

It's not exactly a big deal if an artist doesn't sell albums to me. He just sells lots of singles, and not many albums. Just like you get artists who sell a lot of albums and not many singles. Not a big deal to me.

It's a bit too early to tell if the song has flopped I guess. I mean, Black and Yellow and Rolling in the Deep both took like 4 months to get to #1. But it's funny if Flo Rida does flop again, since I think Low is definitely one of the defining songs of this electro/euro/dance takeover we've been experiencing.

No, I wouldn't have any problem with someone being a single artist except with album sales so bad at the moment, if labels are making money off a person who solely sells singles they will be more inclined to just keep releasing singles and not bothering with albums which would be a complete disaster. It's probably quite an irrational worry considering singles have to sell a huge amount to make much of a profit but I worry nonetheless.

Great to see Adele have such a healthy lead! :P and Rolling in the Deep  to #12 too! :D

Set Fire To The Rain also  #48 :o

Maybe to you it isn't, but for the industry, it is. There's the obvious reason: 10 tracks sold individually equals the value of one album so, financially speaking, it's important to sell albums. But, more than that, when an artist can sell singles but not albums, it's a strong signal he is nothing more than a "fad". The artist doesn't have a strong enough fanbase (since those are the ones who buy albums) and, therefore, the second radio stop playing their song, they will fall off the radar (Flo-Rida is a proof of that). Besides, since good album seller = big fanbase, you can argue an artist who doesn't sell albums won't sell concerts or pretty much anything at all.

Would Ke$ha be an exception then as she hasn't faded yet... (6 top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits consecutively) but she's nowhere near a big album seller..

Not necessarily, there are plenty of album selling artists that don't sell concerts, and plenty of singles artists that sell out arenas. I know it's a bad example, but Katy Perry, widely regarded as a singles artist, is currently selling out a nationwide tour. You make a valid point, but the thing is singles artists can have huge fanbases even with terrible album sales.

The thing is, Flo Rida's songs previously sold in such enourmous amounts simply because the songs were good, not because of his fanbase. Isn't that a good thing?

I mean, fanbases and high album sales are the reason why artists like Lil Wayne and Eminem can get to #1 on iTunes and in the album charts with songs/albums that aren't very good. At least with Flo Rida's massive hits, you know they did well simply because of how brilliant they are, since he has no fanabse. Same with Taio Cruz (who has been around for years now).

SLY has such a comfortable lead, hopefully airplay sores up and she gets her second consecutive BBH100 #1!

Not necessarily, since fanbase usually knows when the artist release the songs so normally it's the first week sales that are fanbase sales. So technically it's because songs that are good that they reach #1 and have casual buyers.
