You sound like a crazy stan there. In the UK Rihanna is probably the biggest star. Worldwide, she probably is. In the US (which is what we're discussing) she's surpassed by both GaGa and Katy Perry. And how exactly has she been influential? The only song of hers that I think has been the slightest bit influential is Don't Stop The Music and it's very difficult to prove whether that actually had any impact on the future electropop craze.

I've thought about what caused this electropop craze we have at the moment a LOT, and I do think Rihanna songs (mainly SOS) have something to do with it.

But I think about 30 other songs in the mid-00s helped pave the way for the mess we're in now, so it's not special. But SOS seriously, is so ahead of its time. The beat of it is practically the same as Sexy Chick, which was a massive hit in the US in 2010, and Europe in 2009, and the high-pitched beeps in it are the same as the ones in Party Rock Anthem. Which is ironic, since SOS is also very old-fashioned, sampling the whole beat from Tainted Love.

But as I said, it's not only down to Rihanna's club songs, so it's not a big deal.

I don't think she's very influential (musically). She just has a lot of catchy songs. I think her producers, Stargate, have been quite influential, particularly their songs with Ne-Yo, where they combined RnB and dance.

Well she did trick a generation of girls in the UK that red hair can be pulled off by everyone.

Gosh. I remember.

Drake is up to ~94.2% as of the last LPB update so should knock Bieber off #1 promptly :D

Ooh, deffo gonna give that a listen!

 #70 for my ladies, but they dropped considering their peak was #64 I believe...

The video for 'Paradise' is out now apparently so hopefully it'll be back in the top 10 in both the UK and the US soon :D

Looking forward to finding out if Foster The People have spent an eighth straight week at #3 on the H100 later on today :P

'Rolling In The Deep' is down to #26 now which is the lowest it's been for months and months. Really brilliant to see it have such fantastic longevity and hopefully Someone Like You will stick around for a similar length of time. I also hope RITD can reach 6 million sales in the USA in a few months. :D

Nicki Minaj feat. Rihanna - Fly is only #40. I'm really surprised at how poorly it's doing in the USA, but then again it's only been a reasonably big top 20 hit in the UK where Minaj's album has sold far less I suppose.

Coldplay top 300 update:

15. Paradise - Coldplay

59. Fix You - Coldplay

104. Viva la Vida - Coldplay

116. Clocks - Coldplay

117. Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall - Coldplay

165. The Scientist - Coldplay

202. Yellow - Coldplay

Nice climb for Fix You, was in the low 90s yesterday :o Anyone know why it's climbed so much?

Also, does anyone have an updated US sales tally for 'Viva La Vida'? :D

Hopefully 'Princess Of China' will be big in both the US and the UK.

FUCK YES.

 3. We Found Love (feat. Calvin Harris) - Rihanna

Video effect starting to kick in I guess. So the #1 might change hands for like, the fifth time in about 2 weeks  (Adele -> Snoop Dogg -> LMFAO -> Justin Bieber -> Drake -> Rihanna - there may have been a brief period between Snoop and LMFAO that Adele was back at #1 again as well?)

^ No LMFAO went to #1 straight after Snoop Dogg. The reason they managed to overtake Adele in the first place was probably due to her losing the "#1 effect".

Possibly, although they were very close to overtaking anyway. They never really pulled very far ahead of Adele, although they lost their own '#1 effect' after only a couple of days at #1 too. Even now Adele is only ~6.1% behind them.

This week's Digital Songs top 10:

1 Adele - Someone Like You 207k (down 5%)

2 LMFAO - Sexy And I Know It 206k (up 13%)

3 Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris - We Found Love 174k (up 21%)

4 Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks 174k (down 1%)

5 Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger 166k (down 11%)

6 Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa feat. Bruno Mars - Young, Wild & Free 159k (new)

7 Gym Class Heroes feat. Adam Levine - Stereo Hearts 136k (up 2%)

8 David Guetta feat. Usher - Without You 129k (up 7%)

9 Cobra Starship feat. Sabi - You Make Me Feel... 107k (up 26%)

10 Lady Gaga - Yoü And I 96k (up 6%)

RIDICULOUSLY close between 1+2 and 3+4. Great to see sales generally increasing in the top 10 (apart from Adele and Maroon 5, but it's good to see the latter decreasing quite quickly now :D) Foster The People still holding up fantastically.

It's strange that there's a song called Dancing in the Dark by an artist called Dancing in the Dark.

It's a cover of Dev's In The Dark! Why people buy music obviously from cover artists continues to amaze me...
