Well no, of course it's not... I just love the track I sent this time (and the track I awarded 20 too I love also) so therefore I hope that other people will love them also, why enter if you're not hoping to give a song that you hope people will like?

 

Agree. And if I remember correctly... No Love will get points from here - maybe 20, maybe not ;) :)

Apologies, I've been out this evening and am probably more excitable than I should be! I didn't really mean my comment to come across as egotistical as it possibly did.

 

You're right, as long as some people find something they love then the contest has served it's purpose. :D

I'm actually a bit surprised by the lack of love for my entry, thought it'd blow the competition away. Also the lack of love for No Love and Photograph strikes me, both were definitely among the better tracks in my opinion. Safe and sound sounded slightly generic to me on the other hand, but seems to be doing well (I did love the 0:33-0:40 part though).

 

Anyways I like the way the table is set up, though I'm not sure the "not revealing 20points" bit is as good as expected, makes the initial revealed points seem somewhat less important. (and as Thomsen says, prohibits us from expressing our love for favourite tracks.)

I am surprised I'm doing this well, I've grown content with doing awfully in these contests. Glad so many people seem to have at least enjoyed my entry, it's one of my favourite discoveries of last year, I must have listened to it over 100 times by now.

Pleased with the results so far. Many of my favourites are doing well.

Rememeber there's still 10 more voters left and then the big 20 pointers. You could still claim victory as Pavel has said he wanted these results to be exciting. I'll be surprised if current frontrunner Air France win the competition. I suspect the scoreboard will look very different at the end.

Yeah I know... I was just trying to get some conversation going in my semi drunken state. It's not about my song winning either, I just had high hopes for it - certainly not hopes of bottom 5!

 

I wasn't sure what else I could discuss, I don't want to give away where my 20 points went by discussing that track (even though I do think my 20 pointer will win in the end)... it's difficult to talk about anything other than your own track under these rules without potentially giving clues away to everyone else that could spoil Pavel's plans for the results.

Indeed. At this stage, if you discuss how great is a track, anyone can figure out if it's "the 20 points song" missing from your Top 12...

You could also discuss your 10/12/15-pointers actually, or just post theories on how this is going to finish! :o

Aw, I liked "No Love" a lot - I can't give away how many points I gave it (because my votes have yet to be revealed) but it was more than 0, and less than 21. :P

I'm a bit shocked at how the results are panning out so far to be honest, but I expect quite a dramatic turnaround once the 20s are given out - I think three are around 3-5 songs that aren't even Top 10 that I would expect or think are likely to be there when all's said and done.

Oh no, I'm not surprised at the results at all. They've been left in mid-air with still a lot to be revealed. The results as they stand I'd say are fairly typical of what the voting looks like after only a certain number of votes. As I posted above, I'm sure the final results will be quite different.

I discovered Austra about a month ago. My friend played me Lose It which I really liked. The vocals were very striking so I downloaded the album. Always on the look out for songs to submit to UP I set about getting to know it and after a few days The Choke started to emerge as my favourite. It's really Depeche Mode in places and it's exactly the kind of simple riff that I want to create when making retro electro pop stiff.

My favourite off the Austra album is Beat and the Pulse which I think is much better than Lose It. In fact that's probably the most annoying song on the album. Find the vocals started to grate after a while. Really like The Choke though and IIRC gave it points.

My top 12 were such a lottery. I could have chosen them in quite literally any order.

Austra are an interesting band and remind me of The Knife a bit.. I do prefer Lose It to The Choke though.

 

My choice (Rubik) was pretty obvious as I wanted to enter something Finnish and a proper pop song. If you like Laws of Gravity, please listen to World Around You which perhaps lacks the twist of LoG but is a great song nevertheless.

 

I've downloaded Austra's album this morning. I'm impressed with the song 'The Choke' and 'Lose It'.

I'm actually downloading Austra's album at the moment. Liked Lose It. Can't say the same about The Choke. :(
