This is pretty good, definitely a lot different to her past material. I only really truly liked 'Ice' though if I'm honest...

OMG this is stunning <3 LIGHTS never fails to impress me! Loving her 'new'sound, My Boots and this really show great development without comprimising quality.

(TORONTO – August 4, 2011) – Canadian electronic-rock maven, Lights is back with the release of her sophomore full-length album, Siberia (Universal Music Canada / Lights Music) on October 4, 2011.

 

“Making this second record was similar to making my first in that I completely discovered myself as an artist all over again,” said Lights. “I've evolved and I've grown more into myself; I'm so excited about the direction of this new album.”

 

Siberia was co-produced by Lights and her trusted collaborator, Thomas “Tawgs” Salter. Special guest producers include Graham Walsh & Brian Borcherdt from the Canadian indie-electro outfit, Holy f***. The duo initially met Lights to record a couple of songs, but their artistic synergies clicked and eventually they completed nine tracks (including “Everybody Breaks A Glass” “Toes”), peppering Siberia with Holy f***’s edgy organic grit and merging them with LIGHTS’ trademark synth-pop sounds.

 

"Thankfully, Lights was open to letting Brian and I take a hold of her songs, and really mess them up. In the end, I think we were able to add a very interesting dark stain to them...in a good way!" - Graham Walsh, Holy f***.

 

The first official single from Siberia, is the infectious dance track “Toes” co-written and produced with Tawgs, featuring Holy f***. “Toes” will be serviced to radio tomorrow, while fans can purchase the song digitally on iTunes August 16.

 

Lights fans were treated to a sneak peak of Siberia on July 17 when she leaked the track, “Everybody Breaks A Glass” (“EBAG”) on www.iamlights.com. The track features an appearance by Toronto’s lyrically gifted rapper, Shad who Lights met through a mutual friend and eventually collaborated on two tracks (“EBAG” & “Flux and Flow”). True to her artistic form, with magic markers and laptop in-tow, Lights created a lyric video for “EBAG” which has generated almost 120 000 views in less than two weeks. See it here

Lights’ debut full-length, The Listening (2009) garnered Gold Certification and featured the singles “Saviour”, “Second Go”, “Drive My Soul”. In 2009, she took home the coveted Juno Award for “Best New Artist”.

Toes:

I'm quite liking 'Toes'. But dunno if I should listen to this album (the last album is decent) when it comes out or leaks, 'Everybody Breaks A Glass' sounds a bit horrible. LOL

I love the two tracks. I'd have to say out of the two though Everybody Breaks A Glass is better but I really like Toes. Looking forward to this album so much easily one of my most anticipated albums of this year.

LIGHTS is easily one of the best popstars of recent times. I wish she'd get more success :(

I love this album so much, I ordered the Vinyl deluxe version. I love the influence of dubstep on here. Holy f*** done a great job :wub: Not sure how it matches up to the first but it's a pretty good album. The odd meh track that didn't really appeal to me as much as the others but overall I approve.

I've listened through twice, but it's a very strong album! Especially the singles, Banner and Siberia.

Ah, still need to download this! Don't know why it's taken me so long tbh haha.

Not a huge fan of 'Toes' though, perhaps that's what's stopped me from getting it so far.

She's releasing an acoustic version of the album next month and I always love the acoustic versions of her songs. Sometimes more than the original. She recently performed 'Where The Fence Is Low' and I really hope the acoustic album has this kind of production with a bit more than just a guitar.
