So upset at the news of Amy's death. BTB was possibly the album of the decade, and her voice was one of the best out there. She will go down in history as one of the greats, I hope, she deserves to. I hope Back To Black as a result can re-peak and mabye even go top 10, even though it wasn't her biggest chart hit at the time, it is really the song she is remembered for and was the most criticly acclaimed. Shame it didn't get the sucsess it deserved without a tragedy like this.

I'm still feeling really sad about Amy, too young :(

Ah well, hopefully she can at least get BTB and Rehab top 40 and TDOTO/LIALG/YKING/Valerie top 100. And hopefully both albums will be top 10 with BTB at #1.

Really hope Amy can finally get a #1 single next week; she's had far too big a cultural/musical impact to go down as not having had any. I suspect a return to #1 on the albums is more likely though... hopefully 'Back to Black' can atleast beat it's peak (#25 or something?) next week.

I suppose so. We'll see in the morning I guess. I really hope BTB can go at least top 10. It was criminal it never went higher than #25 in the first place, an absolutely stunning piece of music I've gained a new love for since I've heard it so much today. It's become the third song for me that makes me feel like crying when I hear it (after Chasing Cars and Bloc Party's The Prayer, but those two were in a bad way)

 

It won't be as bad an effect as it was on Michael Jackson, but the fact she's died at the end of a chart week could adversely affect her positions next week anyway though.

 

(I realise that statement is slightly in poor taste - 'OMG SHE SHOULD HAVE WAITED ONE MORE DAY TO DIE' etc. - but from a chart point of view it is a valid statement :P)

Just read this really upsetting piece on Amy..Had a tear in my eye, her story is such a sad one. I just associate her with drugs and alcohol but before Frank she was actually striving to acheive her dreams and was solely focused on her music and some of her close friends said that no one knew the real her behind all the alcohol and drugs..Plus I don't that performance she did helped the other week where she was booed off stage...

 

Really upsetting especially as Amy is one of the biggest artists around 'my time' as it were...

 

I really hope Black to Black manages to claim the top spot.

Well as people have already said, she doesn't have the amount of material or the legacy that MJ had. Though the former may work to her advantage in this situation as others have mentioned. I'm not denying she is one of the biggest talents of recent years but I don't expect her death to come even close to matching the madness surrounding MJ's. I can only imagine another reaction like that from a massive star such as Madonna and the like.

 

And that's not me being harsh and saying she is not as important as Michael Jackson because every human being is unique whether they're Jacko, Winehouse or in Norway. I'm merely talking from the point of view of the impact her demise will have on the charts.

 

And BTB and 'You Know I'm No Good' should have both been top 10 hits imo but bleh.
