Insane speed for JLS, #1 is never really in doubt for their lead singles though is it - well not for me at least, I know some people had their doubts.

Interesting to see who I still perceive to be the UK's biggest 'new' boyband (i.e. non Take That who are a bit old/veteran for that tag!) knocking the second biggest off the top. I'm trying to think of the last time a boyband replaced another at #1 in the UK, I'm thinking late 2003 when Westlife's Mandy knocked Busted's Crashed The Wedding off.

I had doubts until I heard the song, then all doubts vanished :P I still didn't expect it to go to #1 this quickly though and it'll probably end up selling far more than I predicted before its release (I predicted about 90k IIRC? And I said about 60k before I heard the song but it'll probably have sold nearly that much by the Tuesday mids at this rate...)

Like I said earlier, it's looking like my revised 100-110k prediction might even be a bit low, this could be their biggest first week seller. I'll put it down to a combination of a few things;

-> Catchy, has a very 'in' sound with the RedOne club banger usual 'London to wherever' refrain

-> Held back for 8/9 weeks?

-> Huge loyal fanbase

-> Far better song than The Club Is Alive that itself opened with a respectable sales figure considering the song quality

Not sure that I'm going to attribute Dev to any part of its success though, she's completely unnecessary on the song and it would have done just as well without her...

I think Dev might be a very, very small boost from some of the 'Like A G6' crowd potentially paying more attention to it than they otherwise would have. But the 4 other reasons are much more significant, as you say.

Part of the reason I didn't think it'd do that well until I heard it was because there were loads of people saying it's just as bad as, if not worse than, The Club Is Alive. But it really isn't. As I say, it's personally my favourite song by them now.

I'm not sure that Dev has any sort of fanbase to speak of so far! She's very much a Taio Cruz sort of artist imo in that if the single she puts out is boring/crap, it will flop completely, if it's good she'll get a hit (even so, Like A G6 could have had anybody singing her parts and been just as big). I'm absolutely certain that her album will do nothing when it's released in September, low top 40 and out at very best.

I'm not going to pretend that I love it, because I don't. Eyes Wide Shut, One Shot and Love You More are my favourite three JLS singles by a mile.

That said, it's decent enough and certainly not on the scale of the horrendous The Club Is Alive.

Yeah, if she did have any effect it'd be a very small one. But there's not really any way to judge it.

JLS rate time :kink:

Beat Again 8/10

Everybody In Love 2/10

One Shot 7.5/10

The Club Is Alive 6/10

Love You More 3/10

Eyes Wide Shut 9/10

She Makes Me Wanna 9.5/10

I don't think TCIA is anywhere near as bad as anyone says it is. I really liked it at the time. I've gone off it a bit now but I'd still take it over either of their wet ballads :puke:

I never thought JLS would make such an early impact, seeing boybands at the top is pretty unheard off these days, One Direction is yet to come.

Personally the Amy Winehouse tracks are going to start trailing off, she doesn't seem to be progressing any further, I wouldn't be surprised if Back to Black will chart around Top 20/30 ish, while the rest will start to plummet as the week progresses, hopefully we get a clear picture tonight, her sales should show signs of decreasing on iTunes..

And I just got ear raped by Six D on first listen, that's pretty awful, british music standard has slipped dramatically. :(

SMMW is their weakest single to date imo.

Beat Again 6/10

Everybody In Love 8.5/10 (Only coz P Money Remix )

One Shot 6/10

The Club Is Alive 7.5/10

Love You More 5/10

Eyes Wide Shut 8/10

She Makes Me Wanna 2.5/10

For me it's:

1. One Shot

2. Eyes Wide Shut

3. Love You More

4. She Makes Me Wanna

5. Beat Again

6. Everybody In Love

7. The Club Is Alive

SMMW is decent enough, but not their best for me. Still happy it's #1 though

I'll look forward to the 3rd single as that will obviously be their best as usual..

Is it? JLS regularly top the chart and The Wanted have had two #1's now. They're back in vogue, One Direction should be the third big 'new' boyband when they finally get going.

The pop boyband concept sort of died off for a few years after Blue were really the last big pop one before JLS surfaced. There were Busted and McFly in between but they didn't really fit the image of 'typical boyband' that we'd come to expect - and then Take That had a few #1's but are more of a man band these days.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm sick of these rates that crop up every so often and clog up the thread!

Lets be honest - most of the posts on the Itunes thread clogs up the thread

If Maverick and Amy/Six D can go top 10 knocking out Jason and Calvin, we'll have 7/10 Brits in the top 10 :o Make it happen public.

And if Amy and Six D can somehow both go top 10 we'll have 8/10 Brits with Beyoncé and Katy the only non-Brits! (Pitbull being the third of course)

Especially when you get 2 boy bands back to back at #1 its like buses when you get two No.22 together

Anyhow... moving on... ding ding...

Very true...but it's normally the fools that moan about this that start them!

Anyway...before turning into a hypocrite...

Example down to 12!! Excellent news
