The ninth series begins next Sunday (31st), BBC2, 9pm and introduces a new dragon:

She's called Hilary Devey (pronounced de-Vay), has an assortment of rather fabulous wigs and shoulder padded blazers, and is replacing James Caan (just as well, he was a bit boring bless him).

She looks like a woman who would always sit in the corner of my convenor's. GENUINELY CREEPED OUT BY HER :(
I've not been interested in this AT ALL up until now, I now HAVE to see this, even if it's only for her!
SHE IS AN ACTUAL DRAGON.

Ha! This.

She just doesn't fit in with the lineup

Will judge her properly when I see her in action but I have a feeling, I'm out...

YOU'RE ALL MISERABLE

It was a great first episode! Hilary is rather a joy and Deborah was on good form too. I'm a bit disappointed Peter didn't have one of his cough and splutter moments but I guess he didn't want to blow his load too soon (so to speak).

She wasn't as bad as she looked, she seemed quite friendly actually - certainly when watching the opening pitch!

So glad it's back and that James 'monotone' Caan is no more :D

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this actually, it seems to have improved a lot! Hilary is WONDERFUL as well. Much better than the godawful James Caan.
Hilary is a PROPER northerner.

Ha. This.

I was surprised when she spoke - I expected something more Cruella-esque.

I thought Hilary was great: Spoke sense, gave good advice and was pretty fearsome when she got angry.

I loved her :D

I just wish she'd get rid of the shoulder pads

Saying that I'll probably love them by the end of the series

Starting to wonder if she changed her surname especially..

I think I'm in love

This, basically.

She was fantastic. I reckon she's got the balance of being nice and being a fearsome bitch so perfectly. She is a brilliant and much needed addition to this show. She actually spoke a lot of sense. Roll on next Sunday!
