August 12, 201113 yr So was there a date when the "Official Chart" changed from a Top 75 to a Top 100? I was still under the impression that only Top 75 was "canon" It changed to a top 100 for a while from the late 70s to the early 80s and it changed to a top 100 again around mid-2007, but most people do, as you say, still seem to say that only the top 75 is 'canon' (including Music Week) Since that week in 2007 the OCC has published the top 100 on their website for both the singles and albums chart, not the top 75 - I fail to see why it would appear on the Official Charts Company website if it isn't 'official'? August 14, 201113 yr No one is saying that the Top 100 Singles & Albums Charts are not 'Official'. They are just not used for UK Chart Books. Only the Top 75 is used. Nor does 'Music Week' use the Top 100's - only the Top 75's. Also - Almost all UK Charts Facts & Feats, & 'All Time' Statistics, are based on the Top 75. So that my own Lists match those in UK Chart Books, I only use the Top 75, too. Edited August 14, 201113 yr by zeus555
August 14, 201113 yr the new thursday release is weird, it doesnt affect my purchase every week in whsmith but the chart coverage on the back pages includes midweek info, making it quite confusing!? how much is music week to buy monthly? does any regulars on here actually work for music week?
August 14, 201113 yr how much is music week to buy monthly? Depends on how desperate they are to get you to take out a subscripiton. I did the 4 week free trial a couple of years ago and they rang offering a deal which was slightly lower than what was on the website. I turned them down and they reduced the price a bit more, I turned that down as well and the price dropped again to something quite decent which I took.

You can also try a 4 week free trial of the Digital Edition but again you have to phone Music Week directly. If you go to www.musicweek.com there is an advert for the 4 week trial and clicking that takes you to an information page regarding subscriptions but you'll see no price is listed. The current full package (digital plus print edition plus full access to musiweek.com) was £235 per year that last I checked which would work out as £19.59 per month but as shakfy fan says under the old subscription company you could sometimes negotiate a reduction on the subscription price. I don't know if this will be possible any longer as Music Week have brought the subscription services in-house.
August 14, 201113 yr thanks for the info so you save 2 quid a month and get the extra digital info and e-mails!!
August 16, 201113 yr Anyone got a link to this weeks PDF charts? They make it bloody impossible to find them.....
August 16, 201113 yr Anyone got a link to this weeks PDF charts? They make it bloody impossible to find them..... Here you go: http://www.musicweek.com/Pictures/charts/M...harts150811.pdf
August 16, 201113 yr Author Thanks! Would be a lot simpler if they just put a link on the home page..... :) I wish they added an icon button next to the singles chart itself, I just didn't know where to look.
August 22, 201113 yr ...and as if by magic a link on the main story on the home page! And it appears the PDF charts can be downloaded by non-subscribers too..... Edited August 30, 201113 yr by Shaky Fan
August 30, 201113 yr Looks like non-subscribers are limited to 3 news stories per month! And once again the charts are hidden this week.............
August 30, 201113 yr Author This week's http://www.musicweek.com/story.asp?section...1046411&c=1 You need to log in, always look in the all news section where the article says This week's chart now online
August 30, 201113 yr Must have been late this week as I'm permanently logged in and I'd swear it wasn't there when I looked earlier! Thanks for the link....
August 31, 201113 yr Author They have incorporated all the mid info along with the sales now, on the analysis pages, which means less sales information each week. They do have a little column what new tracks are charting this week in the singles and albums. And they have dropped total album sales from the album releases page, bit annoying that as I would like to know the last total album sales for such and such.
September 1, 201113 yr I've been buying MW for 16 years now - primarily for sales info. Back in the mid 90s they gave away very little info, but they had loosened up a lot over the past few years. This now feels (to me, anyway) like they've talen a backward step. Not pleased. And it won't help Vidcapper when he comes to calculating YTD lists and so on!
