TBO summary

So, as is probably about par for us, we've managed to get one entry past the first stage of each version of TBO. In the DNQ corner, and as we had less DNQs than Qs for once (well, I've never had more DNQs than Qs thankfully but because I'm so balanced it's been 5/5 the past two years), I wasn't expecting to do so well but the three entries that didn't make it actually all came PRETTY close. We were especially pleased with the performance for Scandal, our best-entry-this-year™, coming within 1 point of progressing. And then the entry we got through with, PinkiePieSwear, is currently being tipped to win, and we're very excited, having never won a single contest before. A Rejects win would be a good start. Yeah I know it probably won't happen but I'm still excited for this results show I'm probably going to miss.

Over on the TBO side, things didn't seem to be going as well on nominations night with our highest finisher this year, Porcelain, narrowly missing out, but miraculously, it turned out it was a great decision to send The Hardest Mistakes as I got that through to the semis. We don't expect to progress, having never gotten an entry to the TBO final, a track that came 12th in its original contest looks unlikely to break that. But we'll still be cheering it on, and we're very indebted to it.

 

 

And in the Christmas spinoff, we've entered one of the better bands that we haven't gotten around to entering yet, Relient K, with a track off their Christmas album. It's a lovely little pop-rock track, it has a great title, and it's too sweet. I'm looking forward to seeing how it does.

I have fully gotten into Brony songs so glad to see "Love Is In Bloom" in the top 20 as well. :wub: :wub: I'm also approving of the praise for "LUVORATORRRRY!!!"! Possibly the best Singerpurear entry to date (I honestly don't get why people go bonkers for Antichrist, I've always seen it as another song people play Call Of Duty to).

i always feel like seyetana is one of those countries i never reach demographically so very happy to have 3 entries in your EOY!! it's been a great read so thanks for doing that!

A Requiem in Trance for Séyetana

 

 

Last month, I got my song from an anime. This time, it happened in reverse, I found this song, and from there discovered a pretty niche comedy/horror anime, Tasogare Otome x Amnesia. Or The Dusk Maiden Of Amnesia, from which there's a few songs, this one sung towards the end of the series (as such I'm looking forward to seeing how it fits in). What I've entered is a remix done by little-known Finnish producer Stygia, who has done a completely wonderful job in turning a song of sadness into something quite wonderful and epic by putting the original song to some delightful hardcore trance. I haven't been able to get enough of this so far in January, it's pretty much been the only song I've been listening to.

 

I hope it hits all of you with the same feelings it's done me.

So, RWBY is a thing. An anime thing. That isn't Japanese. And largely exists to show off incredibly cool fights between people with outlandish weapons. And just finished its third volume in style.

 

Also no one on Buzzjack seems to have mentioned it before so I presume I can get away with sending one of the best (and most underused) songs on its soundtrack. A fantastic piano production piece with a stunning vocal from Casey Lee Williams (as is the case with nearly all of the songs from RWBY, it's like she was made to be singing in a favourite band of mine or something), I've been a little obsessed ever since I heard it, it's a good thing it occurred to me to send here. It also coincidentally fits in with my continual attempts to send diverse and unique-sounding entries.

 

I've entered it as an extended edit that makes the entire song feel more complete, the original 3-minute song was made for a trailer with

and the 5-minute one feels a lot more complete as a song and builds better. I hope all anti-long song people understand that.

Es hat viel zu lange gedauert für ein Lied im Deutsch eingegeben werden, vierte Sprache von Séyetana, nach Cornish und wahre Seyetan, obwohl nur eine kleine Minderheit Sprache. Aber Faun & Santiano sind bis zur Herausforderung und und werden versuchen, Erfolg zu bringen. In diesem Beitrag enthalten ist die Musikvideo, das ist leider zu kurz, um sich selbst zu senden. Deshalb braucht sie eine Ausstrahlung, weil es wirklich Spaß macht. Auf jeden Fall hoffen wir, genießen Sie dieses mittelalterliche Volks Abenteuer. Um den Sieg!

 

 

It has to be taken far too long entered for a song in German, Séyetana's fourth language, after Cornish and true Seyetan, although only a small minority language. But Faun & Santiano are up to the challenge, and will try to bring success. Included in this article is the music video that is unfortunately too short to send itself. Therefore, they need some airtime because it's really fun. Anyway, we hope you enjoy this medieval folk adventure. For victory!

Eluveitie to continue the Celtic-Germano theme Faun excelled at last month

 

 

This sort of Celtic-Germanic folk music really is the best isn't it? Especially when combined with one of my biggest loves, that of symphonic/gothic metal. As such, we've gone for an fairly pop-esque anthem (for that sort of band) by Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie released on their latest album, Origins, back in 2014. It's an uplifiting beast of an ode to the Alps, enjoy my proper return to the rock anthems.

 

It also comes at a time of sadness for Eluveitie fans as three important members of the band just left this month, leaving the future of the band very uncertain. So even though I'm entering this two years after the fact it comes at a somewhat appropriate time to rally behind one of their best songs. Eh, it's just coincidental timing which is the only reason I'm mentioning it, but if that's the sort of temporal coincidence you like the sound of, feel free to donate me some points xx

I've had it at somewhere around the top of my list for a while now - you should definitely check out 'A Rose For Epona' by them if you don't know it, it's very awesome (and got a fairly decent result in one of the older UPs).

 

But yes, very glad you're on board - hurray for random youtube adventures.

LSD by Trippple Nippples

 

 

Let it never be said that Séyetana don't do vaguely sexual and decadent Asian entries well. LSD is all sorts of crazy Japanese electro with reggae-house influences (source: the guardian article on them). Trippple Nippples are a band of three Japanese women, who, like Babymetal, use the band name to make up the last name of their stage name, so they are Qrea Nippple, Yuka Nippple and Nabe Nippple. This is all completely clean stuff.

 

Also, for the third time this year, the only video that exists of our track is one that is too short for the whole length of it so I'll have to deal with putting it into the national thread and hoping people watch it. Because it's quite crazy.

Also, yay, we have Japanese craziness in the final, that is a goal I always love fulfilling. And this is now our second-longest qualifying streak, overtaking our 4 in the middle of last year and behind our 9 in 2011-12, how long we keep it up?

This is strangely infectious. So glad it's through! Admittedly, the first time I listened to it, I really was not sure what to make of it, it just seemed completely bonkers, could not decide whether I liked it or not. It was an ~experience~ from the beginning though. I'm fully on board now :D

 

(Also, I thought it said "I lick my ass", but the thread subtitle suggests otherwise :P)

Safe to say that without any other knowledge of Eluveitie, i was quite taken aback by how it errr wasn't quite as easy listening as TCOTM is! :lol:
