I hope this is alright to do, maybe I should have checked with Jonjo and/or Silas. But alas, I didn't. Sorry guys.

Basically, I am going to countdown my top 50 Glee songs from 50-1. And please feel free to comment because that would be awesome ta.

I'll get started right away wth Number 50 guys.

TAKING CHANCES - Lea Michele/Rachel Berry

Season One, Episode Four

Powerhouse Lea Michele shines in this cover of a Celiné Dion song. Rachel sang this song when she auditioned for the role in Sandy's musical when she felt musically pushed aside in New Directions, that led to her quitting the Glee club at the end of the episode. Not one of my favourites on release, Taking Chances has benefited by me growing slightly tired of other Glee songs and this is probably one of my favourite Rachel solo's to date.

I'll let this one sliiiide. (As long as others don't start jumping on the bandwagon lol) But seeing as you regularly post in here, it's fine.

Nice choice to kick off this countdown. 'Taking Chances' always annoyed me when Celine did it, her voice goes through me, but I adore Lea's version. Her voice has a lovely tone. If I were to do a top 50 or whatever I think this could pop up, probably in a similar position. :D Nice start Gaz!

EDIT: Oh and it always annoyed me how only about 15 seconds of this was actually shown in the episode :drama:

Oh I agree. I didn't like Celine's version at all, Lea's version kicks Celine's versions ass.

ANIMAL - Darren Criss & Chris Colfer/Blaine Anderson & Kurt Hummel

Season 2, Episode Fifteen

Darren Criss and Chirs Colfer covered this awesome song by Neon Tree in the fifteenth episode of the second season. It was through their cover version which led to be listening to a bit more of Neon Tree (I don't think much of them, Animal is still an epic tune though). Darren sings this song better then Chris I think, but it's still a brilliant song and controversially it's probably one of my favourite Warbler performances.

Whilst you're doing this, when can we expect the next part of the Season 2 song survivor?

Never paid much attention to 'Taking Chances' before, just because I wasn't as big a fan at the time and there wasn't much of the song in the episode. Do love 'Animal' though, and I would agree with it being one of the best Warbler performances (found some of the other overrated personally).

PURE IMAGINATION - New Directions

Season 2, Episode 21 [Funeral]

Kurt, Finn, Artie & Tina have solos in the song that New Directions performed at the funeral of Sue Sylvester's amazing sister Jean. Pure Imagination is a song taken from the hit movie Charlie & The Chocolate Factory and Finn and Kurt get the idea to sing the song at the funeral after Sue tells them that Charlie was Jean's favourite movie. An utterly moving performance with some brilliant vocals by Jenna.

I LOVE NEW YORK/ NEW YORK, NEW YORK - New Directions

Season 2, Episode 22 [New York]

The first of two songs from the series finale of the 2nd season to appear on the countdown. I Love New York/New York, New York shows the Glee kids arriving in New York and talking of their love for the city (in which they have never been to before!). Great solo efforts from Finn, Santana and Brittany make this a good song.

SWEET CAROLINE - Mark Salling/Noah 'Puck' Puckerman

Season 1, Episode 8 [Mash-Up]

A tribute to his own personal Jewish hero, Puck takes to New Directions to sing his first solo of the series 'Sweet Caroline' in the eigth episode of the first series. He sings the song after Rachel tells him that she needs a man who is brave enough to perform a solo in front of the group. He suceeds and they briefly date. Mark has a brilliant voice and it really shows in this cover of the Neil Diamond classic.

'Pure Imagination' is 'nice'. Nothing more or less to me. :( 'I Love New York'/'New York, New York' is one of the best mash-ups. It's fantastic. But 'Sweet Caroline' is absolutely incredible  Really, really love it and I think it would definitely be within my countdown if I were to do one

I totally agree Lea sings TC SOOO much better than Celine

And I sort of want to do one of these too now  I might just post mine in simple text only format all in one post at the end of this thread or something.

HATE ON ME - New Directions

Series One, Episode Seven [Throwdown]

Hate on Me is sung by 'Sue''s Kids'. Sue joins New Directions as a co-director and wants to paint Will as racially insensitive so splits the groups into two- taking all the minority students (Basically everyone that isn't Rachel, Finn, Puck, Brittany & Quinn). The gang sing on Hate on Me to liven thier spirits up, and it of course features some brilliant warbling from Queen Mercedes.

TIME WARP - New Directions

Season 2, Episode Five [The Rocky Horror Glee Show]

The Time Warp is an epic song from an epic movie and I was kind of worried when I heard Glee would be songs from the camp classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The Time Warp is by far the best performance of that episode, and it has some amazing singing from the likes of Tina and Quinn who rarely get to show their voices off. And it's even more funny when you see Kurt as Riff Raff. Chris Colfer rocked that look.

Hate On Me  LOVE IT! Not keen on Time Warp though, although my mum loves the original and plays it far too much so maybe it's distorted the whole song for me.

Wait.. You DON'T like The Rocky Horror Show?

This is just DISTURBING news.

I've not even seen it - but I'm in my tender years so when I inevitably become a rubbishgai I'm sure I will!
Eww. 'Hate On Me' is dull. 'Time Warp' is epic, just because it features mostly Quinn

LOVE 'Hate on Me' - and the performance of it will always be one of my favourites. Queen Mercedes's lead vox in series one were so much better than the series two ones! Hopefully there's more performances like that aided by Amber in series three. I also really liked 'Time Warp' - and I too haven't seen Rocky Horror. I loved how it included more of the less-used Glee vocals in it too; notably Britt, Tina and Quinn.

Oh, and great rundown so far! :D

JUMP - New Directions

Season 1, Episode 12 [Mattress]

Originally by Van Halen

Glee's version of 'Jump' has made the list at 43. Full of awesome choreography which involved dancing on Mattresses's, this made a rather lacklustre episode all that much better. For sure, it made the list more for the dancing then the singing, the song is rather annoying, but it's one of them Glee song's that although it isn't amazing- it just works somehow.

ME AGAINST THE MUSIC - Santanna & Brittany/Naya Rivera and Heather Morris

Season 2, Episode 2 [britney Vs Brittany]

Originally by Britney Spears and Madonna

Brittany and Santanna made this epic cover of the Britney and Madonna classic for the 2nd episode of the second series 'Britney vs Brittany'. The pair dreamt this song whilst under anestic at the dentist and it's full of sexy dancing, smouldering moves and awesome singing. And it's one of the first times in the series where you see Brittany as something other then just the dumb blonde- she's actually quite sexual in this. A definate favourite duet from the whole show, and one of my favourite Brittany performances to date.
