Wow, this album is practically unlistenable.

Her ridiculously over the top vocals spoil a couple of could-be-alright-tracks, mainly Who You Are, but other than Price Tag, the rest of the songs are drawn out melodies and screachy vocals.

Despite hating DILAD, Price Tag gave me hope that she make be able to make some middle of the road catchy pop songs that would entertain for at least a few days. The album's an absolute mess though.

If Jessie had won the Sound of 2004, rather than 2011, it might have been more understandable! Not that the bloody landfill indie throwbacks The Vaccines would have been any better a winner though! They should have just given it to Adele again, at least this time she'd have deserved it

Overall, a decent enough debut which will no doubt grow on me a lot, but perhaps not as unique, fresh and individual as I was expecting based on the hype. There are a few hit singles on here, but I'm surprised that Nobody's Perfect is the next single, it's far from the most obvious smash on here.

OMG i cant believe how different our views are :D

For me personally, Jessie J is the future.

The way simon used to describe cher lloyd as the next generation of artists, jessie J for me is excatly this.

I cant find anyone out there with a style, voice or music like hers.

I hate it when the likes of gaga get so much recognition and for me personally have, not bad but no exceptional, inspirational music. or tbh the talent. when jessie j deserves.

Anyway i hope its number 1, hope it sells loads, and wish her loads of luc!

God this album really is a love/hate >.<

And whats with everyone complaining over the lyrics "not about the money money money"

sheesh their just lyrics. And if u do thinkg its all about money then im sorry for you :)

Thank you! I feel exactly the same, I have to skip most as soon as the chorus comes on and she starts wailing (Who You Are and Momma Knows Best literally hurt my ears!) and it's like her voice constantly breaks :puke2: it's a shame cos in parts she has a warmth like Kelly Clarkson but then completely ruins it.

On the plus side I found new love for DILAD, and Abracadabra, Rainbow, Stand Up and Who's Laughing Now are ace.

[edit] wow just read some reviews, it's not just me at all is it?!

04.0 Big White Room

:o :o :o :o

'Big White Room' is my all-time favourite Jessie J song, particularly the live version she put on the album. I'm shocked you only gave it a 4/10!

I cant find anyone out there with a style, voice or music like hers.

I really couldnt disagree more here. Jessie J for me is exactly like everyone else without a drop of originality in anything she does. As for representing a new generation of artists, well, we cant rule anything out I suppose but she needs to up her game in my opinion.

I still think it's a nice album if not somewhat run-of-the-mill album though.

After hearing the album, I think the Natasha Bedingfield comparisons are so apt. Trip hop lite and acoustic guitars, with a splash of Nicki Minaj attitude, which is the only thing that distinguishes this from something released 7 years ago.

Price Tag - 9.5

Nobodys Perfect - 8.5

Abracadabra - 8.5

Big White Room - 9.0

Casualty Of Love - 7.5

Rainbow - 8.0

Whos Laughing Now - 7.0

Do It Like A Dude - 8.0

Mamma Knows Best - 6.0

L.O.V.E - 8.0

Stand Up - 9.5

I Need This - 9.0

Who You Are - 9.0

Stand Up is brilliant! I'm guessing it has no chance of being a single...and I hate to keep bleating on, and I won't mention it again I promise, but the VERY reason I love Stand Up is because it's basically a good Natasha Bedingfield song...

Strong debut actually after repeated listens, I do like her stuttering vocal effect on Big White Room and Stand Up! Mamma Knows Best feels a bit out of place on here, maybe it would have been best left as a b-side?

I think so too.. Probably the only song I don't like on the album

Jessie wants Stand Up as a single so you never know. I love Mamma Knows Best! I think the album is so eclectic so nothing feels out of place to me really. It's just a big mix of styles throughout.

Price Tag just went #1 in New Zealand. :)

Why isnt "who you are" on the weekly update chart on bbc. Its not on there at all from 1 - 40 ???
She deserves to be number 1 album this week. Adele's had long enough.

well at least I'm not the only one who thinks this.

I presume he meant the mid weeks, singles airing?

And there's only one explanation for that and that's the fact it hasn't sold enough (clearly) in the last 2 days to go top 40 in the mids.

She deserves to be number 1 album this week. Adele's had long enough.

I prefer Jessie to Adele, but there isn't a certain share of #1, and when the limit is reached another single/album has to be #1. Jessie only 'deserves' that #1 album over Adele this week if she sells more than Adele this week.

Jessie J reveals Price Tag's coconut man

Jessie J has revealed who she is refering to during the intro of 'Price Tag' when she does a shout out to 'coconut man'.

The singer told MSN 'It was a nickname for (songwriter) Dr Luke because he was always eating coconuts!

'He'd be eating them every five minutes and he'd get fresh ones delivered to the studio and everything'.

She added: 'And I called Claude (Kelly, songwriter) 'moon head' because he has a massive head, literally like a moon.'

I love Mamma Knows Best!

Me too! 'Big White Room' and 'Mamma Knows Best' are definitely my favourite songs on the album. I'm really enjoying listening to it, it's great. I hope it reaches #1 at some point, it definitely deserves to.
