August 20, 201113 yr I'm looking forward to this. Could be the first X-Factor album I own (I'm also interested in Rebecca's though). Didn't think BJ would get behind this.
August 21, 201113 yr I'm disappointed that he didn't write it :( nonetheless, he says his music is like Coldplay and Snow Patrol, if so, I VERY much approve :D If its anything like that i definitely approve too! Very curious, I think he's going to do really well - similar to Olly Murs i'd say success wise not music wise. Good album cover! Edited August 21, 201113 yr by Karma
August 21, 201113 yr I'm hoping Matt Cardle's debut album will be good. He's easily my fave of the male winners we've had, and gave some brilliant performances during the live finals (yes, he was inconsistant but when Matt was great he was VERY great).
August 21, 201113 yr very interested to hear this song, matt has said that he wanted to write a song like run for your life for years and when gary barlow sent it to him he immediatly connected with it, he was even emotional when recording the vocals which is strange when it wasnt his song... either way hope it goes number 1
August 21, 201113 yr I don't think it strange, if he can relate to the lyrics and believes in what he is singing then its understandable for him to be emotional. Just because he didn't personally write it does not mean it cannot be personal. :D
August 21, 201113 yr very interested to hear this song, matt has said that he wanted to write a song like run for your life for years and when gary barlow sent it to him he immediatly connected with it, he was even emotional when recording the vocals which is strange when it wasnt his song... either way hope it goes number 1 He's sold himself as a songwriter and therefore different from other X Factor winners, and so the fact that he is releasing a Gary Barlow song is a little tricky to explain without sounding a bit of a hypocrite - so he's obviously been told to say the song has personal meaning blah blah (it's all PR speak). Still it sounds a marriage made in heaven, Gary Barlow is beloved by nearly all and is especially popular with more mature ladies (which will no doubt be Matt's main market) so it's almost certain to be a big success. Whether he can continue to be successful is another matter, his songwriting obviously didn't produce a viable single. He's a bit dull and plodding really, only averagely good looking. He's already admitted he had to swallow his pride to go on X Factor, and so he has to swallow it again and release a song he's not written. Still if it sells loads I'm sure he will think it's worth it.
August 23, 201113 yr Run for Your Life will be released digitally on 9th October, CD single on the 10th. Video/Radio premiere on 5th September :cheer: 2 b-sides, Lost & Found and Chemical. Single cover:http://oi55.tinypic.com/30rtkow.jpg All from the e-mail I got from his website :D Edited August 23, 201113 yr by Regina
August 23, 201113 yr I''m liking the single/album cover, like that brown effect. :) Looking forward to hearing what he's come up with for his debut! :D
August 23, 201113 yr This is looking good so far, I agree, I love the single and album covers. I think this could be good
August 23, 201113 yr ngl, I'm interested for this! He is by far the best thing to ever come out of the X-Factor.
August 23, 201113 yr It's actually quite alarming when you think that out of 7 winners, Simon only really still has Leona that he hasn't dropped, Matt not having released anything yet, he doesn't really count. Out of everyone that has ever appeared on the X-Factor, who is actually still on his label? Leona, Olly (joint deal with another label though, yeah?), Cher Lloyd, One Direction (with both of Cher and 1D being immediately on the scrapheap if they flop). I don't think I can be bothered at this hour to think of the others...
August 23, 201113 yr Author From Wikipedia: Il Divo (2004–present) Leona Lewis (2006–present) Andrew Johnston (2008–present) Alexandra Burke(2008–present, in a joint deal RCA Records 2011–present) Susan Boyle (2009–present) Olly Murs (2009-present, in a joint deal with Epic Records 2010–present) Labrinth (2010–present) Jackie Evancho (2010–present) Matt Cardle (2010-present in a joint deal with Columbia Records) Rebecca Ferguson (2010-present in a joint deal with Epic Records) One Direction (2010-present) Cher Lloyd (2010–present) Ronan Parke (2011-present) Jai McDowall (2011-present in a joint deal with Sony Music) Of XF, he has Cher, 1D, Rebecca, Matt, Olly, Alexandra and Leona, but most of them are BGT/AGT etc. related. In fact, it's only Labirinth and Il Divo who weren't found by a Cowell fronted show. Except he seems to lose/drop most of the winners (Matt, Alex and Leona aside - even then Alex has a joint deal). He also seemed reluctant to sign Jai, he signed Ronan long before. I can see Matt switching labels after this album anyway tbh.
August 24, 201113 yr I am quite impatient to hear what he comes up with. The guy is irritating, big-headed and really not the indie/anti-commercial artist he pretends to be, but still it could be good. I think he will be quick forgotten honestly. Edited August 24, 201113 yr by Hayzayy
August 24, 201113 yr I never really got the 'big headed' criticism of Matt, particularly when Cher Lloyd's ego was huger. He had previous music and life experience that other contestants didn't have and that's why he appeared more confident.
August 24, 201113 yr Me to, i never found him in any big headed, i hope the material is really good and he does well, i was a big fan on x factor of him so im excited to hear his material.
August 24, 201113 yr Me neither, he was already in a band that had released records and played gigs before the X Factor, although he hadn't had any hits. So obviously he was going to be a confident musician, and I remember him not being that confident with his personality at first, a little bit shy. But anyway who cares? He's HOT :kink:
