A few listens in, this makes me think of what The Feeling would be like if they weren't generally shit.

Yeah, the video is rather bleh, Matt looked fit though.

This basically. I wasn't expecting a huge budget video though tbh, and I guess him looking fit saves it

I think he looks more like an insincere dog-walker as opposed to "fit"

This is very much exactly what I expected his first 'proper' single would sound like from the very beginning. Like pretty much everyone has said, it's not bad but leaves no impression whatsoever.

Rankage:

1. Bad Boys

2. Bleeding Love

3. No Promises (his only good song)

4. Ambitions (actually a good pop song, although Donkeyboy's original tramples it into the ground)

5. Run For Your Life

6. Don't Call This Love (here is where we drop from average to downright HORRENDOUS)

7. Against All Odds

I would still say though that he's the only male winner so far to actually have proper popstar credentials and the potential to go anywhere, but it could just all go down the pan...

wow there is so much negativity on this topic. its not the greatest song ever but its not the worst by a long shot. alot of people here are acting like old women venting their frustrations on something that doesnt matter, it will sell a healthy amount of copies whether you like it or nott. so stop moaning and listen to anther song if you dont like this one..

lol i actually thought the song was quite promising, it was just too big a song for him. would have been nice to hear an alternate version from another artist

Is that you, Michael Jackson-impersonator-that-went-on-X-Factor-again? CELEBRITY IN OUR MIDST :o

You seem to miss the purpose of a "discussion forum". What sort of a forum would it be if everyone had only positive things to say? How is anyone behaving like "old women venting frustrations"? Do men not "vent their frustrations" in a similar fashion? How is expressing an opinion "venting"? Why are you FIGHTING THE CAUSE so strongly to the point of delusion for a song you yourself have said "is not the greatest thing ever but not the worst by a long shot"?!

I want answers AND I WANT THEM NOW.

lol im glad someone else picked up on that x factor hint there :)

unfortunately im not going to get into an argument, but just to pick u up on a point u just made, what sort of a forum would it be if everyone had only positive things to say..well i could say the same about the point of a forum if all that is said is derogatory things.

I want no arguments after recent times. Some songs will attract majority negative opinions if the member base don't like them, likewise with the reverse. That's just the reality of a forum where people of similar interests/taste come together. Also most threads are more balanced with the like:dislike thing.

Jake said what I was going to say, but much better. Basically Matt is the kinda music that isn't liked too much on Buzzjack, so largely the opinions are on the negative side. Whereas a Lady Gaga or Katy Perry would basically be all positive except maybe a few people and maybe the odd troll.

Oddly enough it was Gary's spoof song for Geraldine that stopped Leon from reaching a #2 peak position (although I'm pretty sure that the rivalry actually made Leon's sales greater than they would have been.)

Wouldn't it be nice if another songwriter rained a little on Gary's parade by bringing out a spoof song to rival Matt's? Just a thought!

Incidentally - I still think Gary's 'Winner's Song' SHOULD have been used for a real song - the lyrics (with a bit of help from Mr Kay of course) are quite apt.

But Jay its the negative things that bring the biggest laughs (some of the comments here have had me chuckling quite a bit). I find positive threads a positive 'no no'.

7. Against All Odds

Except poor old Steve* didn't get a proper follow-up launch/second single. That was his winner's song, and his only single.

*Not that I liked him much, and he was the co-author of his own undoing, but he did get treated dreadfully.

Matt's song is a bit dull, but I don't think his fans should be too disheartened that people are queuing up to be critical. It's a song from an X Factor winner. Everyone wants to express their opinion when he, or another finalist releases their proper debut. If everyone expressed their opinion on most new releases after one listen, most people would be saying they don't much like it.

Being negative just to get a laugh is pretty pathetic I think.

A bit of positivity is nice, especially on this site. :P

Do you apply this philosophy to the whole site, such as the Joe McElderry threads, or is this just for the people you like?

But he wasn't being negative for a laugh on Joe McElderry which he is allowed to do as he doesn't like Joe... #shockhorror

Nice is so overrated! I'd rather have a few seriously negative comments (as long as they're put over in a pretty funny way) than a load of 'nicey-nicey' positive comments.

Don't you agree?

There is more to this site than Joe McElderry threads.

Well, kinda. I still like nice though

It's not GREAT by any means, but I wouldn't say it's a bad song at all. It's exactly what you'd expect for his proper debut single - an entirely inoffensive and vaguely pleasant soft rock power ballad. The annoying thing about it will be exactly what was the annoying thing about Matt in the first place - something ALRIGHT which gets wholly overrated and treated as something 'real' and 'so authentic' when it isn't at all.
Hmmm, not the best on first listen but I'm sure it'll grow on me when I hear it every hour on the radio :P

Oh definitely. It definitely spices things up to have banter. The rate is an example (lol ur nice have a 10 was a lot less fun than OH MY GOD YOU ODIOUS QUEEN STOP BREATHING AND GO AND SHOVE YOUR HEAD BACK UP MARIAH'S ARSE etc.), but also anywhere on the forum, a bit of variety, as well as some laughs courtsey of sarky banter, is what keeps us going. Everyone would leave if it was 'omg love this track x' for pages and pages.
