Mutya is pathetic

SHE LEFT THE GROUP ON HER OWN and now her solo career hasn't exaclty been brilliant she wants the Sugababes back. seriously...

She doesn't want the Babes back. Nobody is denying that her solo career tanked (although it outsold Sweet 7 by nearly 10:1)

This has been gone over and over, she has the rights to a brand name she created and the financial goodwill generated by it. ESPECIALLY when there are none of the founding parties benefiting from the goodwill of the name. There is legal precedence and not just in the entertainment industry.

What Mutya has done is perfectly legal and something she and 1.0 is more than entitled too.

Just get over the fact that Mutya, someone more talented than every current member of the Sugababes combined and multiplied by Girls Aloud to the power of The Saturdays, has done something she is more than entitled to do and something that 4.0 is just going to have to get used to. Fact of the matter is: Mutya, Siobhan and Keisha are the holders of the intellectual property and the goodwill generated by the brand name they created and put the groundwork into. 4.0 will never be more than a bunch of management controlled puppets, they are not and never will be the Sugababes. Sorry to break the harsh truth to you.

LONG LIVE 1.0

I would love to see Keisha and Siobhan's reactions to this news.

Continue along those lines and you will be on the receiving end of a warning.

Constructive criticism is welcome, that is just a malicious attack and that I will NOT stand for.

Maybe she'd want to own rights to the name because it's the name of the group which she formed along with Siobhan and Keisha? I can definitely see where Mutya is coming from, the name Sugababes is a joke now and I don't think she wants the name of her group to be remembered as a huge joke.

Yeah I would do the same if i was her, I remeber 2.0 albums were all around 800-900K and Sweet 7 got around 20K  Real Girl sold over 100K+

I'm still not really sure why Mutya did this. I know she was a founding member and everything, but she chose to quit the band out of her own choice. If it was Keisha who had started this I would see why she was doing it, as she was kicked out of the band she founded.

Anyway I hope Mutya enjoys her cardboard Sugababes. Maybe she will make cardboard cut outs for people to burn :o

However, while the official EU Trademark website now lists Mutya - who founded the band with Keisha and Siobhan Donaghy in 1998 - as owner of the name Sugababes, she only has the rights to use the name to sell limited amount of products.

The sites states she has acquired the name Sugababes for Class 16 products, which are classified as "Paper, cardboard and goods made from these materials, not included in other classes; namely stationery, paper gift wrap and paper gift wrapping ribbons".

LOL

I just have to LAUGH at Mutya and at all of you who made such mean comments on the girls... Really, it's disgusting to read some comments. Some of you just don't even care about the band... you just want them to get f***ed... That says a lot about some.

She left the band on her own... What does she want the name for? To release singles that won't make the Top 100 (or even Top 200) like her last efforts?

And btw Silas, are you a moderator??? I can't see you being impartial AT ALL. You just hate 4.0. Period.

It's not my job to be impartial. Moderators are not robots, we are allowed opinions.

I'm here to attempt to keep the peace, keep discussion flowing and keep the forum neat and tidy (To put it basically)

Does this mean the Sugababes stationary we were all looking forward to isn't happening? DAMMIT MUTYA. RUINING EVERYTHING.

Let's look at this from the other side. It might mean that Sugababes can't use their names in physical copies of CDs, as their logo will be written on paper otherwise.

But Sony can go out from this situation claiming the new CD format. I can already imagine Amelle saying "alright, we decided to make an innovation an release an all-plastic physical format of CD: the booklet, the cover - all is made of plastics!" or something. OKAY, I need to go to sleep.

Personally I was going to buy three, then replace one steadily until none of the original three remained.

I like to be prepared. You never know what's going to happen. You could be on holiday in Japan or somewhere and lose one in a toilet.
