I think its crazy for them to put a stop to the album, the ultimate collection has shown their is still an appetite for them and actually everything they have done since reforming has been a success, ie the album, the tour and the tv show which shows there is still huge interest in them, they even managed to get a number 1 in the download album chart aswell.

No offense but the saturdays label arent exactly handling the saturdays very well and havnt done so for a long time so i couldnt see them any better with Steps, on saying that the saturdays label dont seem to focus too much on high album sales so they are good in that way.
I'm hoping that Steps' success allows A1 to get a record label here and put out their last album. There is appetite for late 90s bands!

My point was about the sales. Not that they are a good label.

I saw The Platinum Collection in HMV today, what a hideously cheap and nasty looking release. On the outside it looks like the 3 studio albums in a nice outer sleeve. Take the albums out of the sleeve and they've all been very badly reprinted, the album covers/back look borderline blurry and have a grainy quality. Make no mistake, it's not bundles of old unsold albums being resold, these are newly printed albums - although done with such little care they look like fakes! :drama:
When cashing in the record company should have done it right, to be fair all 3 of their studio albums were good pop albums so they dont deserve such shoddy packaging. I know the platnum collection wont chart well but at the same i would love to find out its chart position.
Don't understand the logic behind this at all, with the right promotion and lead single I see no reason why it couldn't do better than a hundred and one flop albums that Sony push out year after year. There's a fanbase ready and waiting for this album. At least they're intending to do one, I hope they can find a label to support them, I want a proper final single at the very least, to wash away the memory of Words Are Not Enough!

Im afraid I'm not convinced a new Steps album would do well, so I can see their logic. In their hay day, Steps were good but the music industry has changed since then and I think their greatest hits re-release didnt even shift 200k. However, I do feel if the record company had put more imagination into the re-release by including more new material and remixes then it could have been more successful.

Just read on DS that they have another series of the reunion show coming up, so I would think an album is surely in order, but then again it could follow the tour and not much else I guess...
the new tv show and tour will definitly boost sales of the ultimate collection, but i reaklly hope it leads to a new album, id just love to see what sound they would come up with.

The Ultimate Tour begins tomorrow in Belfast. I won't be going until the 17th in Brighton!

Has the setlist leaked yet? I'm hoping for all of the hits in their original versions (no remixes of Heartbeat or One For Sorrow thanks).

Of excitement or disgust?

I was never that fussed on it personally

Excitement of course!

It's by far my favourite Steps song, the Bach To Basics mix in particular, but even the album version would be amazing.

I can never quite make up my mind on my favourite Steps single. It's a four way tie between One For Sorrow, Love's Got A Hold On My Heart, Last Thing On My Mind and It's The Way You Make Me Feel. Luckily, there's no question that these will all be performed

Well, 3/4 of them are UBERAMAZING so good choices!

I've always had a soft spot for Better Best Forgotten too, but I'm sure they'll be doing it anyway.

it's just hit me that I'm seeing them this month. I'm going to need to listen to their greatest hits again to get me back into the spirit, needless to say I think it'll be one hell of a night.
