Was there meant to be one?

According to a post made by Tom Kay a couple of pages back...

I heard nothing about it tbh :(
It's easy to forget how big they were, I was looking at the chart run for Steptacular earlier and had completely forgotten that it had 4 weeks at #1, all in the busy xmas season! Also on its second week at #1 it somehow managed to hold off a new entry from Westlife with their debut album, and Westlife were HUGE in 1999, I still find it surprising that their debut never topped the album charts!

The sales on that site are for the 90s only they, almost, correspond with what I have (from a VERY reliable source).

Their debut album was released head to head with the Manic Street Preachers (who, incidentally, had beaten them to No 1 just 3 weeks prior on the singles chart) and so it never really stood a chance back in 1998.

"Steptacular" held on to the top spot against "Westlife" by less than 1K, Westlife were mid week No 1 (I'm a font of useless knowledge) :D

Watching episode two of the Reunion now. Hoorah for Faye, as ever, definitely remaining by far my favourite Steps member  Ballsy and sweet in equal measure.

The Ultimate Collection is the #2 pre-order album on iTunes after Coldplay, it's number THIRTEEN on the overall Amazon top 100 and again, #2 on pre-orders after Coldplay.

Bloody hell :o

Does anybody else LOATHE H on this reunion documentary thing?

Oh FFS. I missed the 2nd part! Gonna have to catch the repeat again  But I have it on series link now. The 2nd part looked really interesting. I'm watching the TV channel "The Vault" and they're playing a Steps vs. S Club vs. Atomic Kitten top 30 (random inclusion but I don't care tbh! LOL) and it's got me thinking whether life behind the scenes was the same or similar for S Club. Did some of the others get jealous because Jo was the voice? Was Jon gutted about being "the one everyone forgets"? I'd be much more excited for an S Club reunion, but this Steps reunion IS making me listen to their classics again and is providing some light entertainment on what would usually be a dull day for telly.

I'm sure S Club have a similar story too, except without the controversial split. Remember though that they had Paul leaving and the 'drama' of the three guys taking drugs. Surely Tina was the one that everyone forgot as well, Jon at least got some lines every now and then

S Club won't be able to successfully reuinte now, Paul, Jo and Bradley have ruined that by going on tour as S Club 3 and generally cheapening the band name performing at Uni bars etc... where Steps could conceivably still sell out arenas. Plus Steps went out on top (with a huge #1 greatest hits) whereas S Club had faded out a lot by the time they split up, Seeing Double was a massive flop for a band of their stature.

I get what you mean dannjohn3 but you've got to look at it from their point of view - 3 of them went from having a massively successful job, to none at all. Going from earning millions, to earning nothing and having to start back up again. It's easy to forget how huge they really were. Very few acts can manage the consistency in sales of records, and they were at the top of their game when it came to touring. I think it was the space of 3 years (from the theatre tour to the steps into christmas tour) that they managed 1 million concert tickets. And sometimes the more successful you are, the harder the fall is.
If they were to ever record any new material I'd love it to be in the same vein as Agnes Carlsson, I can dream I suppose...

Ya i agree 100%, i really think it must have been awful for Faye, Lisa and Lee, as they had no idea what was about to happen, Claire and H has time to think their departure through and knew it would be the end, so going from been in one of the biggest pop groups and ready to perform to 15,000 to been unemployed when the show was over is a big thing take in for anyone. I dont know about anyone else but im really rooting for them to make a full return and id love it to go well, especially for Claire, Lisa Faye and Lee, to be honest ci doulnt give a shit about H as i have come to detest him from watching the documentary, even when steps were together i always though H was putting on an act and the documentary proved that for me, i have to say i love Faye, the documentary has really brought her personality to light for me.

My copy of The Ultimate Collection arrived today. Despite not being on the CD tracklisting, the video of Words Are Not Enough appears on the DVD. Some 'new' pictures of the band in the booklet too!
Just caught up with the show. What a c**t 'H' is! He really pissed me off when he said something like "Clare has a lot to make up for" or whatever! EXCUSE ME!? But I'm really feeling sorry for Clare for taking most of/all of the blame! I think this is just proving that 'H' is just a spineless little sod.

Rumored Tour Dates:

NIA, Birmingham, Thursday, April 12th

Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff, Friday, April 13th

O2 Arena, London, Thursday, April 19th

Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield on Monday, October 15th

Although tickets are already on sale.

When I saw the Oct 15th date, I thought it was this year. But it is 2012. Which will give me time to save up.

But there is a random 6 Month Gap between dates?

But how far along is Claire in her pregnancy? There is 7 months until the first date. Hopefully she will have time to lose all that baby weight.
