I'm going to go out on a limb and predict a top 3 for this. It's the most accessible (and strongest) thing she's done so far and the video, even if it's intended as a parody, is bloody well made and should get plenty of TV play.

God I hate this bitch SO MUCH. This song actually perfectly highlights WHY. Is she selling out for a hit to make some kind of pathetic 'statement' or is she just selling out for a HIT. Either way it's awful.

I think it could do quite well for her though, let's say #6-8.

thing is, if you just churn out the same stuff album after album, it gets boring after a while and some of the time, aside from you're fanbase, interest wanes. Artists should make progression with their sound to capture new fans and stay relevant as opposed to being 'so *insert year here*'

"...boring after a while..."

I agree, but it's not a long enough while between the debut album and second album to me. I think that the debut and follow up should be simillar, not exactly the same, as that would be boring, and then at the third album, do something a little different. Obviously keep to the genre your known for, but do something to keep people interested :D

Just as a matter of interest, what is it about her want for fame that annoys you?

Because you shouldnt do music soley for fame, you should do it for the love of music, and while it may get frustrating that you dont get noticed, you dont go and say 'Im not famous enough'. If she wanted fame then she should have gone on x factor.

She's not good enough for the X Factor... sure she has good songwriting abilities but you can't show that on a show like X Factor. There are plenty of people out there who make music just because it's their passion - they don't even have anyone like Digital Spy to quote that they wished they were famous. I just find her ungrateful to have found fame and a fanbase and it isn't enough. Marina & the Diamonds ("a metaphor for her fans")? More like a metaphor for the riches she wishes for.

Never liked her since that comment she made about being pissed off she wasn't more famous.

I've never even heard those comments.

Never liked her since that comment she made about being pissed off she wasn't more famous. It takes more work than an average album, with a shit lead single to be uberfamous, be thankful for what you've got. Now she turns to generic shit :D

I have to agree. Even if you feel you should be more famous, saying it makes you look like an arrogant twat.

I think lower top ten, with her going commercial she'll recieve a lot of R1 hype. I like the change for her, this is a great song and I *want* it to be 2-3. I wasn't a fan of her songs last era, this is my favourite song of hers already and the voice really suits the track (like with Sia and David Guetta)

I recall Amy Winehouse saying something along those lines after her first album, so if Marina does anywhere near as well as BTB did (though preferably without the early death part), I'll be quite happy. :)

I don't understand how people think she's selling out, I love this song but I don't find it mainstream at all.
You don't find it mainstream? Have you not heard anything from the top 40 this year? I am very disappointed in it. I never really understood all the hype in the first place, I thought she was hugely overrated and got the success her album deserved, it was a decent album, but really not that great, at least 5 major filler tracks. This however is garbage, so I'm sure it will be her most successful single yet! :D

Given that r*p seems to be mainstream now, and she isn't... well, you can draw your own conclusions... ;)

Mainstream pop has been a constant stream of club-y tracks for the last few years, with similar repetitive filtered synths that seem to be the mid-point between rave synths and trance synths.

Off the top of my head these have similar sounds

The Wanted - Glad You Came

Katy Perry - California Gurls

Taio Cruz - Dynamite

LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem

Rihanna - Only Girl

David Guetta - Sexy Chick

....I'm sure I'm leaving out some obvious ones. The pop experts here will know more.

Oh, I forgot Calvin Harris...Radioactive sounds more like his work than anyone elses.

Think #11-20

Want #11-20

It's not as good as Hollywood :(

I don't think Marina is 'selling-out' as such, I think it's a change in artistic direction for her. It still sounds quite sophisticated and typically Marina, but with elements of dance music incorporated. Radioactive doesn't even sound like the 'club-bangers' that are doing well in the charts at the moment and none of that list that Tony posted sound like Radioactive imo.
I wouldn't say they sound like Radioactive, but they don't really sound like each other. However they're all a similar type of song and it's definitely something I'd put this in too. They're all pop songs made to go down well in a club.
If you take the grand scale of pop music and dance music going back to the 80s then you see patterns. There's a current way of making a pop song that does well and Marina is using that template.

I see your point, but I think she does care about the music. She wants to be famous because she knows she deserves it. Obviously this is subjective but if she thinks her music is amazing then I can see why she is frustrated that not that many people are hearing it. I don't think she makes music to be famous, but rather she wants her music to be famous as she loves it so much.
