Before I started taking part in BJSC, I'm sure 'Jealousy' would've been a #1 for me, but now I've joined in the BJSC fun I'm discovering songs that I absolutely adore and 'Video Games' is one of those songs. Apparantly it's getting released in October (according to YouTube) and haven't a clue if that includes a UK release but I'm convinced it'll bomb in the UK...but when shite like 'Don't Go' can get to no. 1 in the UK, this proves how irrelevant the top spot can be in our charts.

 

03 (04) David Guetta feat. Sia - Titanium (04-03) [2 wks] - Love this, better than first two songs by far.

 

Again, this is absolutely ace. Such a Euphoric song and the chorus really makes it. Hard to believe it was only 12 months ago when Sia hit #1 in my chart with 'Clap Your Hands', I never would've predicted Sia to score another smash hit in my chart.

 

06 (05) Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger (10-05-06) [3 wks] - Great song, just a shame it won't be a #1 in the UK

 

It's hilariously ironic. :D Outsold by Wretch 32 and Emeli Sandé but is now above them in the chart. Then it was outsold by Olly Murs and Calvin Harris yet looks likely to outsell at least Calvin Harris but is also above Olly on iTunes. What are the chances Maroon 5 will eventually end up outselling the new singles by Example and Ed Sheeran? Radio 1 not supporting this song has got to be one of the best things to happen to this song. Maybe if Radio 1 finally playlisted it, the song would start dropping down the chart really fast. :lol:

It's now on the Radio 1 C-list which suggests this is most likely going to storm the UK charts upon its release in late September. Whether it can become a UK #1 I'm unsure but in terms of popularity and time of release, it could be the 'Barbra Streisand' of 2011.

Well you probably won't know this but Gotye's track is representing my country in BJSC. It's an excellent song, but a proper grower too. The video really adds to the content of the song and is visually interesting to watch. If it does get a UK release, I'd like to see this doing well.

Yeah, this has grown on me a lot too. I think the fact I'm starting to see the video quite a lot has helped as it just pushes the song to my attentiion. This is definitely going to be a big hit for me in the coming weeks.

I expected this to be at #1 or #2 this week on iTunes outselling the competition but it's just not happened. I have a feeling 'The A Team' may continue to sell really well long after this song has been and gone. It'll be interesting to see how this holds up next week with all the big new releases being added to iTunes.

I watched it too on Saturday night. It was a good show and Will's vocals remain unmistakeable. However, I did find some of the editing a bit amature and cringe worthy. Even though there were some moments I really didn't understand (when he performed one of his songs with loads of backing dancers just striding across the stage in time to the music I did think WTF? :blink: :lol: ) but other than that it was a good show.

I have to admit, whilst this riding high in many others' charts, I just don't see this getting to the dizzy heights of my chart. It may scrape top 10 but even that seems unlikely at the moment considering the 15 songs above it.

It sure is. Obviously 'Mr. Saxobeat' is easily your most successful entry to date spending three weeks at #2. Radio Killer ended up doing much better in my chart considering the number of points I gave it in BJSC XXXIIV. 'Feelings On Fire' is just one of those "small" hits that have been waiting for ages to make my chart. I don't think it'll get a higher peak to be honest.

I'm really happy to see Will Young still able to score #1 albums - to think it's 10 years since he made his name through Pop Idol (when reality TV was more genuine imo :D ). By that I mean if Will Young was on The X Factor 2009 (for eg) there's no way he would've won. Will is one of the best talents to come from reality TV, but he's also very lucky that he came about when he did - even Pop Idol 2 was a complete and utter disaster. :lol:

I know exactly what you mean. I'm also so that surprised 'When We Were Young' never really took off on iTunes. The fact that 'Love Love' was a brand new single and couldn't maintain its sales when released said a lot. It could well have got to #3 midweek and stayed inside the top 10 for 7 days but it didn't have the selling power. Then again, the lack of a video didn't help either. I still think 'Kids' was a great track and if only the video had been released much earlier, it could've been a much bigger hit.

'Feels So Close' frustrates me slightly. :lol: It starts off ok with Calvin singing over the piano melody. Then the kick drums come in and it sounds like it's going to build up to this massive Euphoric moment of glory. Then the beat kicks in with the guitars and it souns SO limp. :manson: It also sounds like he's tried to do his own version of 'I Gotta Feeling' and, imo, failed miserably. If only he made a heavy beat after the build up. It's really anti climatic. :(

'Jealousy' is excellent, the perfect comeback for Will. It also shows just how clever Will Young is in terms of marketing and selling the single. By releasing the single at the same time as the album, Will managed to boost sales of his single. Ie; if the album wasn't released, nobody would be cherry picking the single off the album to help boost its sales. I think it's a very clever tactic and it paid off giving Will his first top 5 hit over in 5 years.

I think 'Progressed' was just anorher record company con and a blatant attempt to milk more money out of 'Progress'. When you consider nearly 2 million people bought 'Progressed', why would those people buy the album again just for a few new singles. Take That would've benefitted more from releasing a new album of material including these songs. That way, the record company would've made more money than they have done from just a re-issue.

Oh there is. I managed to get the studio version without the talking. I agree the version with the talking is offputting but it's ripped straight from the music video.

The chorus is quite infectious. :D I didn't think I'd be that impressed with Olly Murs material but when he does the mid tempo pop stuff, he's at his best. I just don't think Olly suits ballads very well.

What's not to love? I think my Batidas English translation is genius and that helped me enjoy the song more (for the wrong reasons but still :P ). It's been my fave track you've entered into BJSC so far.

influenced metal on it as promised

 

I remember reading about this (on here maybe?) about Evanescence experimenting more with the electro sound. I could imagine them sounding more like Nightwish if this was the case. Judging from 'What You Want' it doesn't seem that they have. Maybe it's a misleading lead single to make exsisting fans think the new material is just like their previous material.

Have to admit, I only discovered The Storm thanks to this song becoming a big top 5 hit in Denmark. I've never heard any other tracks from them before. Was 'Wall Of Shame' from this year?

 

32 (--) Akcent feat. Ruxandra Bar - Feelings On Fire (32) [1 wk] I do like Akcent, but this is one of their weaker tracks. I wish they'd release more stuff in the UK though!

 

It's been on my BJSC reserves list for a while. :lol: I like this song but don't think it's brilliant hence why it's taken so long since BJSC to enter my chart.

If there's material to come in similar vein to this song then I will be interested. Some other posters prefer 'Vultures' but this is so much better. The synths really add to the atmosphere of the song making it much more haunting rather than the typical predictable pop/rock fodder.

Aww!!! :( I've been a fan of Will Young's music since he won Pop Idol in 2002. Will's brand of pop is very distinguished and unlike most other pop music in the charts. The video is typically Will in that its telling a story so it's more acted rather than the usual sing to the camera that most pop acts do.

The Czech song is pretty sad it's called gravestone btw... I meant the melody is quite similar, nothing more - 'Titanium' is indeed 'brilliant and effective' as you said ^_^
