Example - Change The Way You Kissed Me (2 weeks)

DJ Fresh - Louder (1 week)

The Wanted - Glad You Came (2 weeks)

JLS - She Makes Me Wanna (1 week)

Cher Lloyd - Swagger Jagger (1 week)

Nero - Promises (1 week)

Wretch 32 - Don't Go (1 week)

And then Olly this week, next week we have Ed/Example possibly getting #1.....then we have The Sats/Leona/Pixie the week after....then Dappy/One Direction. :o

When was the last time Brits held the #1 spot for this amount of time?

Hopefully the UK invasion wont last too long.

Why not? Surely you'd want good songs at the top regardless of what country the artist is from?

I do want good songs at number 1 and based on the last 7 weeks, we havent, in my opinion.

I believe we had seven straight British number 1s from Take That's Patience until Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) in 2006/7 period (there may have been more before that of course  )

but yes, this is very good (even though technically Dev had a number 1 as well) just think earlier in the year we had a top 10 with all American lead artists

Yeah but did we before? Bruno Mars, LMFAO, Pitbull, Nicole... The quality certainly wasn't any better.

Out of the 20 number 1s this year so far, I think the last 7 have easily been the worst

In answer to your question it was at the end of 2006 into 2007 when 7 UK acts topped the charts in succession from Take That's "Patience" through to "The Proclaimers "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" for a total of 20 weeks

Hmmm. Well aside from Jason Derulo (released in the middle of September) I can't think of any non-UK artists releasing to stop the trend. Mind you I haven't looked at the release schedule!

I think the charts have vastly improved in the recent weeks tbh.

I know it's not Buzzjack's ideal taste though. I think most people on this forum probably preferred earlier in the year when Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Britney Spears, J-Lo, Nicole, etc. were in the top 10, and everything in the chart was electropop.

Now we've got Christina Aguilera, Calvin Harris, Example, Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5, Wretch 32, etc. dominating, and not much electropop, dance pop, etc. So I'm not at all surprised people don't like it tbh. But I do.

For me its got nothing to do with it not being female electro pop. I actually really like Christina Aguilera & Maroon 5 and Ed Sheeran. I just think the number 1 singles have been pretty poor recently and some great songs have missed out. So the music isnt the problem, just the number 1s.

Maroon 5 might upset the apple cart next week.
I thought don't wanna go home by derulo split example and DJ fresh?

You're right he did- there are still 7 UK acts on the trot with Olly Murs today though :)

It's a dodgy one anyway as JLS "FEATURE" Dev who is american so it isn't a "pure" run unlike the 2006/07 one!

Earlier this year, with Adele?

Some of those songs don't 'feel' British to me though - mainly because I don't consider you-know-what as British in any way...
