I wouldn't really expect any more than Gaga is currently achieving for Marry the Night. Gaga's fans have all bought the album now and so sales of singles aren't going to be great. This always happens when an artist is so successful, fans don't just want one single, they want the entire experience! Look at Adele for example, she continues to release singles only for the purpose of remaining in people's consciousness, everyone has already bought the albums.

This reaches 100 million Youtube views. Iconic video and self-directed

"Edge of Glory" won't go platinum unless it gets a big boost, it's not even close to 500k yet.

For me, it should have gone:

The Edge of Glory (after closing the Brits with it as a world-exclusive)

Born This Way (with a held-back release)

--ALBUM--

Heavy Metal Lover

Hair

What a HOT MESS strategy.

How on EARTH would this work in the USA? Where would the hype, the radio spins etc come from?! *_*

Never go into A&R mate.

All I'm asking is a Poker Face/Bad Romance sounding tracks. Judas was close but the lyrics just made the song too dark I guess.

Eh? There was nothing dark about Judas. It didn't catch on because it was such a transparent attempt at recreating Bad Romance, except overthought with too many different styles from one verse to the next. The whole thing is just a bit of a headache, a total misfire.

I agree that Marry The Night is fun but after a single flops it's notoriously hard to make the next one a hit.

What a HOT MESS strategy.

"Born This Way" was a massive US hit on name alone, premièring the first single in the UK wouldn't exactly prevent it from doing well over there?

The main reason for having "Heavy Metal Lover" and "Hair" in there was for a bit of variety, I was a big supporter of "You and I" getting released because it wasn't a big 130bpm electropop track like the other four singles but in retrospect it was never going to do that well over here.

Besides, I never said that should have been the worldwide strategy. Releasing Y&I worked in the US whereas "Marry the Night" is underperforming over there, so maybe a different set of singles for different territories would have been a good way to go. Worked for Chris Brown because his team obviously saw that "Beautiful People" was a potential UK smash and "Look At Me Now" was more suited to the American market.

I rather think that people are fed up of her dark songs and just want a FUN record. Marry The Night isn't dark but some of her previous tracks possibly killed off the momentum in her releases. It shows the public isn't really into Marry The Night as much if after Children In Need and X Factor it still hasn't broken Top 10 tbh..

I find there to be alot of fun songs on the record.

Has she released any of them? I WISH THAT I COULD DANCE ON A SINGLE PRAYER.

Make it happen.

And you can be artistic and fun, without coming across as. "THIS IS ART, WATCH ME". Art speaks for itself and comes in many forms. Gaga does release very fine art, but she ruins it with her mouth, tbh. You cannot assume you have outdone yourself, especially when your "art" is for the public... that is for the public to decide. And 'Marry The Night' does not come close to outdoing anything she has done musically or visually.

It's all the same. Just rehashed... just my opinion.

You & I killed the campaign really. Stupid single choice. For a second it looked like Marry The Night could be a hit in the UK but she took too long to release the video.
I can see single #6 coming on the way.. Its dropping everywhere already. Gaga should've released the video a week earlier when MTN was at around #11 to get it into the Top 10 and having a boost there.
These never work

I know, especially with this only having 6,000 members.

I remember the one they had for Untouchable by Girls Aloud last year, it didn't even get back in the top 1000 on iTunes

It must have done - it re-entered at #152 last year, didn't it?

Gutted this flopped. Its my favourite single release so far this era, just surpassing 'Judas'. I'm hoping it'll rise again in January once the Christmas rush is over, though I doubt it'll happen.

JUST BLOODY RELEASE 'SCHEIßE' AND GET THIS ERA OVER AND DONE WITH. As much as I'd LOVE a video for 'Heavy Metal Lover', it wont perform any better than 'Marry The Night' so she may as well just finish with the track which could potentially give her another worldwide hit, then tour. Though, saything that, 'Marry The Night' had MUCH MORE potential and look what happened there.

I don't understand why MTN is not having the same impact as some of her other hits. I know it is the 5th single from a successful album, but it is an amazing song! I thought it was one of the more commercial songs on the album, more so than TEoG (although that was another of the more commercial songs).

But, I always thought that the most commercial song on the album would be Americano, and I still stand by that!

I think it's commercial, because it's so not commercial, if you get what I mean. The same way as Bad Romance.

She better release it (& finish with Scheisse)!!! My favourite song from each album has been track 5 (ILIR, DITD, Americano) and she hasn't released a single one yet. <_<

Most commercial song has to be "Hair" without a doubt, lyrically and sound wise. It's most radio friendly from the album imo.

I want Gaga to release Scheisse but I dread the outcome of the radio edit version of it..
